About Mary Jo Selden

We love to fish and dive and feel that this is the best location in the Florida Keys to do all that we enjoy to do. We hope you will feel this way too.

Mary Jo Selden purchased this house in 2003

Why Mary Jo Selden chose Big Pine Key

We love the location of this property due to the Key Deer preserve. We get herds of key deer and their babies in our backyard which brings us delight. This property is close to Key West and other keys to visit, but it is always nice to come home to Big Pine Key.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed it. We love seeing the deer come into the yard. We caught fish everyday. I really love the shower!!! You have a wonderful home, thank you for sharing it. I could not have wanted anything else.

We had a wonderful stay! The owner is a dream to work with. She gets back to you in an incredible time frame. The home is in a beautiful location in the key deer preserve on a quiet street on a canal. Within one hour of arriving we were met by the key deer. They came everyday and allowed us to pet them. The home is beautifully decorated with everything that you could possibly need and more! It is incredibly clean and well maintained. We sat on the screened in porch every morning and night and watched the sunrise and sunset - incredible! We loved being able to kayak to the bay from the home. The fishing off the dock is incredible too. This home is wonderful for relaxing and de-stressing. Worth every penny! Would highly recommend this home to my family and friends.

a peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

what a perfect getaway. the location was amazing. located on a quiet street with direct water access. we sat on the deck every morning and watched the tarpon rolling in the water and the key deer walking in the preserve while we had our coffee. the house was great. I felt at home as soon as we walked in. The nicest and cleanest rental I have stayed in. close to great restaurants and entertainment but far enough off the beaten path to feel like you really had a getaway. I can't wait to go back. Perfect!

A Great Natural Escape

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for September and October of this year and were blown away by the key deer visiting daily. With the launch ramp next to the house and the dock in front it's perfectly located to fish and lobster the back country. Just a few miles from "Civilization" (Winn Dixie, CVS, etc.) but so private too. The owners stayed a few nights in their half of the duplex while we were there and they were so kind and generous when we would meet outside but we never heard them next door. Very comfortable living area with a large nicely stocked kitchen. Stay here!!

Tranquil,Beautiful,clean,convenient,well stocked!

I could not have enjoyed my stay here more!It would not be possible! The tropical breezes and scenery are fantastic. From the sunrises to the sunsets, from the groups of deer in the yard, to the crystal clear water- it could not have been more enjoyable. The open plan is roomy and comfortable. So relaxing. And so well appointed. I enjoy cooking and did not want for anything. From the grater to the spagetti spoon- I needed nothing- it was all here. And so clean! It was great to just relax in the clean comfortable surroundings and not need to do a thing BUT ENJOY MY VACATION.Everything I needed for entertainment was there. 2 TVs ( LOTS of channels), CD and DVD player, stereo player with radio. And outside, of course the world famous Florida Keys waters, biking and walking the neighborhood, nature trails ( and don't miss the Blue Hole). Deer are everywhere as the home is located in the Key deer refuge.I couldn't believe the numbers everywhere - so beautiful to view. Then if I could pull myself away from Big Pine Key- to the south is Key West. Fun shopping, great restaurants and incredible architecture. To the north just a few miles is Bahia Honda State Park- voted one of the nations best beaches for the beauty that can't be beat. Just north of that is the 7 Mile Bridge. I enjoyed walking and biking on the Old bridge which has been made into a great park- fun experience. Can you tell I enjoyed every minute? And did I mention the outdoor private shower???What a great amenity. Large dock also.Owners couldn't have been easier to work with! Easy to reserve.I highly recommend this rental to any type group as it work for anyone!

greatest place to escape the north

  • 5 of 5

This is the place!!! Exceptionally clean and taken care of. Owners are attentive and want you to enjoy your visit.Everything you need and most of what you want. Great value and my best pick in Big Pine Key because of the peace and quiet, comfort zone, ideal location. We rented this terrific vacation rental a few times already and keep coming back when it's available. Owners are informative, accomodating and great to work with. Immediate replies and info when asked and so helpful! If you need to get away from the cold,or looking for one of the best rentals in the Keys, come here.We biked and walked for miles, safely. We went on a boat, what afun time!Key west is close enough to go for a few hours or the day. Great wildlife and especially our little keydeer friends.Again, thanks for providing the perfect getaway, we'll be back soon!
