Located on upper level of the historic Pier 14 Pilot Station (still operated by the Columbia River Pilots) the Pilot House is an elegantly appointed luxury suite in the heart of Astoria's historic waterfront. Surrounded by water, nearly every room offers a panoramic view of the Columbia River.
The 1700 square foot unit has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths with 4 gas fireplaces. The spacious living room has leather furniture with a queen-size sofa bed. There is a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with a dining room that can seat 10 people. The master bedroom suite has a king size bed, full bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub and shower with a private deck off to the river.
The Pilot House has the warmth and feel of a home with high-end features of a four-star hotel. The building was restored in 2005 and is listed on the National Historic Register of Historic places. Inside you will find museum quality maritime artifacts throughout.
Astoria is the perfect getaway for any interest... history, outdoor adventure, or maritime activity. The Pilot House is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and many local attractions. Both the 5-mile river walk and trolley line run right outside the door.
This property is incredible. The views are breathtaking, the location is walkable to all the restaurants, bars, and shops in downtown Astoria, and the interior is well-done with comfortable beds, three spa-like bathrooms, and a great open family/dining/kitchen area. Truly, none of us wanted to leave when our weekend stay was over. Can't say enough good things about this place!
If you want stunning views of the Columbia River, look no further. Would stay again and again.
This place is top notch! Stunning condo, stunning views, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We wanted for nothing. There is a small co-op just up the street to walk to for wonderful veggies and gourmet ingredients. The perfect stay!
We have been to Astoria three times in the last few years and stayed at other hotels. The pilot house beats them all. We were there on a very rainy weekend but it didn't bother us because of the fantastic river view and the cozy living room. The beds were all so comfortable and the house was very clean. We are ready to come back to the pilot house the next time we are in Astoria. A great family gathering place. If you like to watch the ships this is the place to stay!!!
We joined with two other well traveled couples and went to the Pilot House. What a weekend. The men had a blast tracking the ships and the trips by the pilot boats. The ladies enjoyed the view, the lovely fireplace and reading - and later walking and shopping. We did all of the tourist things, had wonderful food both at the condo and at local restaurants.
We loved it and will certainly return.
I am not going to rehash the previous reviews,I just want to reiterate that this is a fabulous, well maintained, facility. I loved it, my kids loved it and it will be our future choice for stays in Astoria (which we do a couple of times a year). One recommendation, when you get there you will find a coupon for a pint of ice-cream at the local friet and scoop. Don't pass it up. It is great also. Some things that might come in handy. The refrigerator is standard size so bring all the food you want. There are plenty of towels and linens. I do like my own brand of paper towels so I would bring my own and toilet paper if you have a particular. The provide several packets of coffee and it is the good stuff. SBC. I also suggest that you look at the books they are well chosen and a fascinating history of the area. Go down to the Pilot Office and introduce yourselves. They are extremely friendly and knowledgable. Utensils are plentiful for cooking. Spices are sparse but will get you through. I would take some sugar as well as any creamer you want for the coffee. There were some packets of each there but again I like my own. We got there on Sunday and had a chance to stock up on fruits and vegetables at the farmer's market right across the street. Hope you have a great a stay as we did.
