As our 3 children have grown, we have enjoyed many wonderful adventures in the mountains, skiing or hiking. We fell in love with Powder Horn mountain in 2008 and when the opportunity arose we were delighted to be able to buy The Tree Haus. We look forward to making more memories and are happy to be able to share it with others. We hope you will enjoy all the fun and tranquility here as much as we always have.
Chuck and Debbie Davis purchased this chalet in 2016
Close enough to Boone (9 miles), a college town, with lots of great sports, concerts, plays and more, yet you definitely are in a mountain community on Powder Horn!
Spend the day hiking amazing trails, playing in the streams and waterfalls, swimming in the community pool, enjoying paddle boats on the lake, fishing, taking a quiet walk in the woods, take a short drive and ski at one of the area's slopes or go into Boone or Blowing Rock for shopping and antiquing. At night, return to the comfort of the Tree Haus. We know you will be happy with the unique charm and space of our chalet at our rates!
Our guest book journal is full of wonderful & amusing comments of Tree Haus adventures! Please add yours before leaving, for the enjoyment of guests who follow. Reading the journal is the 1st thing we do each time we arrive!!
We love that you have such great memories & are willing to share them!
Please come again!
Love, Debbie and Chuck
We had an amazing time. Debbie was so wonderful and helpful about telling us about places to visit or eat. We loved our stay and are looking forward to our next one. We couldn't have ask for a better house to stay in or experience.
We took the kids to the mountains for a long weekend. From the first time that I contacted Debbie the process was easy. She sent me plenty of information about the area and the check in process. The house perfect for our party of 4. We spent most of our days away from the house hiking and white water rafting but we did make it down the pond to fish one day....even though we didn't catch anything. after we left I sent an email to Debbie about 1 issue we had. She responded quickly to let me know what she was going to do to fix the issue. I was very impressed at how easy she is to deal with and her willingness to do whatever she needs to do to fix a situation and make things right. Thank you again for allowing us to rent your home for our trip.
From beginning to end, my experience with Debbie and Chuck was extraordinary. Reserving was easy, Debbie was always very responsive to my many questions. The property was beautiful. The house was clean, well equipped and really made to feel like a home away from home. Every morning we enjoyed coffee on the deck and were visited morning and night by a family of deer. A hiking trail is right outside of the house, with many more within walking distance. There is a beautiful creek close by and several lakes for fishing. The kids loved that they had their own space on the lower level, equipped with bunk beds, tv, foosball table, private bath and deck. The upper deck was a wonderful spot to read after a day filled with activity. Although there are other houses in the area, it feels very private. If you aren't used to mountain driving, I recommend arriving during daylight. We didn't get a chance to go to the pool or clubhouse, but plan to do some more exploring on Powder Horn Mountain during our next stay. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. Thank you Debbie and Chuck for your hospitality!
Beautiful property in the middle of nature. So much to do in the community and outskirts. We chose rafting and Worleys cave with high adventure expeditions. I highly recommend participating in their adventures. My kids and I really enjoyed walking the trails following the stream and exploring laurel trail. I highly recommend this property.
Our stay at the Tree Haus was a wonderful retreat from the pressures of everyday life. We enjoyed the hiking trails near by and fishing in the ponds in the area. The club house offered swimming, pool tables and paddles boats for entertainment. Most of all we enjoyed not having phones and wifi in the house. It gave us time to rest, recharge and enjoy time as a family. We hope to be able to return again in the future!
My family and I stayed at the Tree Haus for four days/five nights, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The owners are total pros at this, and sent tons of helpful information out before our arrival. We knew what to do, how to get there, as well as information about what to do in the area. She called me before our arrival, and kept me updated on work they were doing on the mountain that could affect us. I love lists and organization, and being our first time renting a home, this was the perfect experience for me.
Our children(14, 8, 6) fell in love with the house right away. Being from Florida, anything with stairs is a novel experience, but then there were the games, foosball table, and bunk beds!! We all had our own rooms, bathrooms, and even different floors for the different ages. I never once heard 'I'm bored', and they went into mourning when we left.
Our party of five had plenty of room and we were never crowded. We say deer from the balcony and enjoyed dinner on the deck or at the dining room table. The kitchen had all the things we needed, and all we needed to bring was food and our personal items. The house was very clean and well maintained. It was definitely furnished with comfort in mind.
Powder Horn Mountain has many activities to enjoy. We spend two whole days just exploring the community: the pool, hiking (which is really cool and has different levels), little Sliding rock, etc. The house is only 20 min +/- from a grocery store, and we took day trips to Grandfather mountain and the Linville Gorge area.
The house we went to in the next area was only one story, was much smaller, and had an open floor plan. It was nice, but we all missed the Tree Haus right away. I can't recommend this house and these owners enough. I really hope we get the chance to go back, and I know this was a vacation my kids won't soon forget.

Here is a Quote from MSN City Guides article: 'America's 10 Best Outdoor Towns' regarding Boone: 'The tallest mountain in the East lies not in Vermont, New Hampshire or Maine but near Boone, North Carolina. It's 6,684-foot Mount Mitchell, a centerpiece of the Pisgah National Forest and Blue Ridge Mountains, whose valleys hide hip
little hiking towns like this one. Appalachian State University attracts outdoorsy students to Boone, where you're as likely to find a latte (Espresso News) as a low-key country restaurant with fried chicken (Daniel Boone Inn). Paddlers hit the Nolichucky and French
Broad Rivers for class III and IV rapids (Mountain Adventure Guides, Erwin, Tenn.) while mountain bikers wheel along the 18-Mile Ride (Magic Cycles). There's even skiing here at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort
and a handful of other small resorts. For a classic adventure, tackle the 40-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail that runs through here; even in the summer, temperatures remain refreshingly cool.'
