Relaxation 101: So Inviting and Minutes To Pocono Raceway/Ski Resorts/Kalahari!

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,400 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 10 Sleeps

You could not ask for a better location! So much to do within the resort and if that is not enough, you can increase your offerings (like some fabulous state parks) within a short ride of the community, if you so choose! But there is no pressure to do so, just the availability of many options if you are so inclined! Relaxation seems to be the #1 activity when visiting!

Of all the vacation properties we own, this one is THE most relaxing!

And now with our recent upgrades it is the undisputed winner hands down! We love the brand new kitchen, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, hardwood laminate flooring throughout (I too thought it was the real McCoy at first), and the new baths are luxurious! Freshly painted, new carpeting in the first floor bedrooms, it looks and lives great! If we need to sleep well, this is where we go because it is quiet, private and off the beaten track.

General Description

This beautiful contemporary home with cathedral ceilings features 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, two story stone wood burning fireplace, loft, garage, decks (front and back), a screened porch, fusball table, darts and so much more. Winter, spring, summer or fall you will find this haven like no other. A place to unwind, privacy and close proximity to pools, walking trails, recreation, ski slopes, fine dining, state of the art Logan Steele Rec Center - you choose the pace and on your terms. We've created the perfect back drop for you to cook waffles and pancakes on a Sunday morning, or to roast marshmallows and make s'mores over an open fire in the back after a day at the beach, to get caught up on your summer reading list, to watch the newest release, to relax, to unwind after a day at the slopes, to celebrate a glorious day with a cocktail or sip your favorite cognac in front of a roaring fire - the choice is yours.

Lake Naomi is Like No Other!

Our home is conveniently located just steps away from the Lake Naomi Clubhouse and pool. Be sure to check out the Logan Steele Community Center which opened May of 2007 with a heated indoor pool, state of the art exercise facilities, steam room, sauna, hot tubs, kids rec area, indoor tennis, gym, dog park and so much more! It's wireless with a nice cafe'!

Lake Naomi, a 277 acre lake community has been designated a Platinum Club of America, a prestigious honor bestowed to only 235 clubs of the 6000 that apply. It is also listed in the 99 Best Resort and Recreation Communities, according to J.B. Wiley and Sons.

The endless walking trails, access to the lake and guaranteed relaxation all come with the house at no additional charge! For an additional fee, a temporary membership to the Lake Naomi/Timber Trails Resort can be arranged giving you unlimited access* to all pools (indoor and out), platform tennis, dog park, sauna, steam room, fitness, tennis, golf, club restaurants, kid's clubs, the fabulous new rec center and so much more! Rates vary depending on the time of year. Whether you want to golf, hike, sail, swim, ski or just lull the day away, there is no place in the Poconos more beautiful and relaxing. *Green fees and court time may be additional.

The two pools are open starting Memorial Day weekend and remain open until a week or so after Labor Day, weather depending. The pool is closed during the week until mid June and after Labor Day weekend. The HUGE indoor pool is open year round. We are situated within a 7 minute walk to the FABULOUS Lake Naomi pools which overlook the lake with views that are simply breathtaking! You can't beat our location if the Lake Naomi pool is a frequent destination while vacationing!

In the winter, this home is minutes from some of the best ski resorts in the Poconos - Camelback, Jack Frost, and Big Boulder. Not to be overlooked, is the neighboring Pocono Raceway. And the brand new super duper Kalahari Indoor Waterpark, open year round with day passes, dining and shopping all available on site! Fine dining, Pocono 500, Pennsylvania 500 Sprint Cup races, theatre, concerts, culture, you name it! And if your kids need eye candy and an activity that is sure to wear them out, be sure to check out the Kalahari resort just minutes from the house. The arcade, shops, indoor water park are nationally among the best! We are very fortunate to have them so close to the house!

The new NASCAR retail shop is one-of-a-kind with all the latest NASCAR merchandise. Lake Naomi is only 14 miles from the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It is very convenient for local shopping and the outlets which are less than a twenty-minute car ride. And don't forget gambling and the casinos that have recently come into the region - if you need a little excitement, risk and reward are just a short car ride away!

Although during the summer months the community is quite popular, the spring is a great time for hitting the trails horseback riding. Smell the aroma of mountain flowers... kayaking, fishing, bird watching, white water rafting, horseback riding, hunting, paint ball......YOU CAN DO IT ALL HERE!

And then come autumn? A favorite destination for leaf peepers with its abundance of color and you can do it all over again! So visit us in the Poconos, 2400 square miles of mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and woodlands. The community boasts 25,000 acres of surrounding forest and game lands. Don't miss Bushkill Falls (the Niagara of the Poconos), the Delaware Water Gap, the Appalachian Trail, Lehigh Gorge, whitewater rafting and SO MUCH MORE!

Poconos - the stream between the two mountains!

Modern Home for a Friends & Family Ski Trip Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Wendy was a really great communicator. She treats her rental property like a business which I appreciated. Any message I sent leading up to or during my trip had a response within 7 mins. No exaggeration. She laid out all the do's and don'ts of her property very clearly. How to turn xyz on, when to take out the trash, wifi pw etc.

The accommodation itself was great. We were 8 adults and one 6 year old. We had 3 cars, they all fit in the driveway. The house was nice and warm for a winter weekend vacation with modern decor. The common areas were spacious and worked well my party's needs. The wifi was great and worked throughout the house. The house is about 15 mins away from Camel Back Mountain which was perfect for us.

I would definitely recommend staying at Wendy's home.

Thanks for the hospitality Wendy.

Gorgeous house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time in this beautiful house in Lake Naomi. Wendy (the owner) was very helpful and accommodating to our needs. We rented the house for my mom's 60th birthday with my whole family and it was just perfect. The kitchen was roomy and great to cook in, the living room was cozy, the beds were comfortable, and the dining room table was great to have the whole family around for a nice dinner. If you rent this house, you won't be disappointed! Thank you so much!

Pocono Retreat !

  • 5 of 5

A recent visit to this wonderful home confirms everything which is described in the web site. The layout is excellent and the house is easy to live in. A renovated kitchen opens onto the dining room and living room. The flow of traffic is terrific. Two bedrooms and a bath on the first floor provide private quarters!

A loft on the second floor allows for separate activities, TV, games, etc. And the two bedrooms and bath on this floor again provide private quarters.

Outdoor living is also part of the plan! There is a delightful screened porch off the kitchen. An outdoor patio with lounge chairs is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain air.

This house offers complete privacy. But Lake Naomi and its club are nearby as are popular attractions for young and old.

Our visit was a completely satisfying experience.

Great Place for the Family!

  • 5 of 5

An awesome place for the whole family! There was always something to do for the kids. The Community center was perfect for not only the kids, but the parents too! There was an arcade, an indoor pool (with lifeguards always on duty), basketball courts, tennis courts, and even racquetball courts! For the parents, there's an awesome fitness center! Also at the pool there was a relaxing hot tub. And when all the kids got hungry, we went to the delicious cafe! We spent some time at the community center, but we also went to the lake. It was perfect for the kids because it was like going to a beach, but safer and smaller. Me and my husband were able to relax without having to worry too much about the kids. Great place for the family, HIGHLY recommend!!

Beautiful but at a High Unexpected Cost

  • 2 of 5

The house was great, we had a fabulous time. I would love to give this place at least a 4, but dealing with the owners left a very sour taste. The woman is a handful to deal with, to say the least.

To begin, I practically went through an interview before I was considered, where do I live, what do I do for work, who do I live with, it became a bit inappropriate. I had an uneasy feeling about in the beginning, but it was 1 month before the new yr and we were getting desperate. The rental is priced very well, but beware b/c she will try to get as much money out of you as possible. First there is a cleaning fee. When we left she complained at how dirty the kitchen was. The place was not left in disarray, everything was put away, deck was cleared. I'm sorry, but if I am paying a cleaning fee I will not be wiping down the counter tops. We were all very careful to keep the house in tip top shape, b/c I sensed the owner was quite particular. In the contract it states not to move any of the furniture. And by that she means inches! The table was literally moved 6in to make room to pass, there were 10 of us! The fooze ball table was moved also a few inches so that we can use it "moving charge". She also complained about pillows moved from one room to another. Which I doubt was true b/c we did not spend much time in the bedrooms, let alone moving stuff from one bedroom to another.

There is also one other thing. We were supposed to turn on and off the power switch to the water heater or something like that. Accidentally we turned off power to the whole place, and a few pipes froze. We admitted our fault, even though it was not clearly marked for which one to turn off. And if not familiar with the switches it can be confusing. Anyhow the supposed damages were to be subtracted from the deposit, and she stated that the damage would be significantly more. So we rightfully asked for proof. Pictures and estimates were requested and when they were finally sent they were very vague, the picture was of a corner! Furthermore her stories weren't completely lining up. First it was a professional, then it was her husband, then another professional doing the work. Reviews from other sites have sited similar difficulties with this couple. They own a construction company and close associates of theirs are plumbers. Coincidence? maybe. Needless to say we didn't get our deposit back. Its really unfortunate, the place was great. But the trouble afterward was not worth it.

Owner's Response: Frozen pipes and water leaks are potentially costly to repair and can tarnish any vacation; events such as these are not consistent with our theme, "Relaxation 101." We try to anticipate issues before they occur by communicating with our prospective tenants and encouraging a dialogue. We send specific instructions about how to access the property and what to do upon arrival, including details as to how to turn on both the water heater and the well pump breakers upon arrival and off upon departure. These renters figured out how to turn them on when they arrived; not sure what happened upon departure as the electrical panel is clearly marked. We invite renters to call us for clarification if they are unclear or something is not satisfactory, which this renter did prior to check-in as they forgot to bring along the email with the instructions and needed some assistance initially. I am still unclear why someone would turn off the main breaker to a house in the Poconos during a spell of subzero temperatures...As soon as we discovered the frozen pipes we immediately took measures to thaw them and eight hours later we learned the hard way that one of the water lines froze and ruptured. This was evident from the water leak that ensued. The drain hose from the washing machine also cracked during this period. We communicated with the renter, apprised them of the situation and put them on notice that we would do our best to minimize the costs and repair as qucikly as possible so future rentals would not be impacted. Repairs were made within the week, we did alot of the work ourselves (but hired a licensed plumber and professional painter), we forwarded invoices and sent them photographs not once, but three times. The texture painting was done so well the damage was indiscernible from the photos. We offered to send the cracked pipe as further evidence but they did not respond. Oftentimes we run our rentals through a local realtor; however, it is the policy of the local agencies not to accept rentals from parties with no rental history in the area over new year's - which was when this rental occured. This does not seem fair to us, so we will accept "first timers" but only after receiving assurance that our home will be treated with respect and we do that by developing a rapport. A cleaning fee is customary with area rentals. It is not the cleaners'responsibility to put the house back together again and do a "deep clean" which was required upon their departure.

About Wendy Ney Manley

We own a hand full of vacation rentals and we pick our properties based on whether we would enjoy vacationing in a certain region and if the house would create a meaningful and memorable backdrop for friends and family to gather. We try to create an environment that offers more personality, comfort and coziness than a sterile hotel room or a home that is void of any warmth or homey feel. When we vacation we want to do so in a carefree environment that is neat, clean, updated, welcoming and relaxing.

My husband jokes that some day he would like to actually use the homes we work so hard to maintain and update, but our children are younger and very active so our free time is not our own.

My husband is from the Buffalo area and I grew up in the Philadelphia area, although college, grad school and our early careers took us to various places across the country. We returned to the Philadelphia region to start our family and our home base is a suburb of Philadelphia.

Welcome to our home away from home!

Wendy Ney Manley purchased this house in 2003

Why Wendy Ney Manley chose Pocono Pines

When I was between jobs and our children were very young, my mother convinced us to get away for a few days and suggested the Poconos. 'The Poconos???!!!' I said...immediately heart shaped beds, champagne glass hot tubs and all that is tacky is what came to mind! Lake Naomi could not be further from that vision! We stayed with friends in Lake Naomi and quickly became hooked! An avid tennis playing family, you have fabulous facilities, high level competition, not to mention the gorgeous lake and pools - we loved our time there! We own places at and on the beach and this is the place we relax the best, year round! You can choose to be solitary or find a pick-up game if one feels like venturing out, find a desolate lake view beach or eat with friends poolside or lakeside and have a delightful and satisfying culinary experience.

We fell in love with Relaxation 101 when we pulled up to the house! Steps from the Lake Naomi pool, we were instantaneously struck with the open floor plan and the two story stone fireplace as soon as we opened the front door! We loved the fact that if you are in the kitchen you are still a part of what may be unfolding elsewhere, enjoying a roaring fire or just hanging out after dinner either sitting around the large DR table or outside in the screened in porch.

When we need to get away, this is where we come, year round and so close to home! Rarely is traffic an issue and if we want to shop the outlets, ski or check out Camel Beach the opportunity is there!

What makes this house unique

Recently we renovated the kitchen, the two baths, and replaced all the flooring on the first floor with an engineered laminate that really opened up the space. and holds up quite well to typical wear and tear and significant foot traffic The bathrooms are so much more luxurious and kitchen is so much more functional.

Don't forget to check out the fusball table - a favorite hangout for my kids, and likely yours too!

We love the stone fireplace that runs two floors, the open space floor plan, the screened porch, the brightness of the house even though we are in the woods, the wonderful cross breezes and the single car garage which provides protection when the weather is not cooperating.

We added a portable air conditioner to the first floor in 2016, although the canopy of trees and cross breezes when the windows are open make the house very comfortable in the warmer months.

Again, we have tried to decorate in a manner that is comfortable, tasteful and inviting and based on our guest book, our guests overwhelmingly agree. We hope you do too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time at the house. Lots of fun had by all at the L_____/G______ wedding! Buck provided lots of laughs and we loved the porch. Thank you for allowing us to use your home.
