|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
3 bedroom/2 bath ranch style home on 300' of Deep Creek,a tubing and
trout stream flowing out of The Great Smoky Mtn. National Park.
Located on almost an acre with room to play or just relax on the
screened back porch and Deck as you listen to the creek.
Come and stay on the quiet side of the Smokies!
Our house is filled with antiques and memorabilia from the past, particularly the Appalachian culture, from a outhouse bookshelf, farm tools, apple butter stirrer, 1930's wooden canoe book shelf, and tobacco trays, cutter and cans.
First let me say this is a beautiful home. It has everything you need for a home away from home. Our family had plenty of room. We are a family of seven with ages ranging from 82 to 3. Everyone was able to have their own bedroom space and the Sun-room is set up for the younger ones. The back closed in porch was a great place to relax in the evening before bed or in the morning as you enjoy your coffee. The Deck area is a perfect place to enjoy a meal outside or just relax and watch the kids play. The backyard has a picket fence around it so the kids have a place to just get outside and you don't have to worry about them getting into the creek. I can not say enough positive things about this house. It is close enough to everything you want to do and still be back home to fix supper. The kitchen is well furnished. Everything was there for us to cook any meal. You provide the food and they have everything you need to prepare it. The charcoal grill in the backyard was an added bonus. You will not be disappointed with your stay here. We did not want to leave when our stay was over and we are already making plans to stay here again next year for our vacation.
I have enjoyed staying in Chestnut Lodge several times. It is a short drive from Deep Creek in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can even tube from the park all the way to the house. There was plenty of room for the seven family members to spread out.
The location of the property is just perfect, it's close to about everything and easy to find. The property was exactly as described, and the owners are very friendly and easy to deal with. We loved staying here as did our kids, and will definitely book the lodge again. The decor is comfy-cozy and you feel totally refreshed after staying here. We loved having our morning coffee on the screened in porch while overlooking the creek. The home and property were clean and looked as pictured.
Our family stayed at Chestnut Lodge during Labor Day weekend. This home had everything we needed for our family of 7. The home is quite charming and was extremely comfortable for all of us. It is very spacious and even had a small fenced area in the back for our dogs to enjoy. The entire property is huge and very nicely maintained. The covered carport was an added bonus. The deck out back overlooks the creek and there is a BBQ where we were able to grill while listening to the soothing sounds of the creek. The location cannot be beat, as we were two minutes from downtown Bryson City, so it's easy to come and go as you please. The house is situated on Deep Creek and it was a delight to listen to the creek in the mornings and evenings. We were pleasantly surprised by the neighboring goats, who provided entertainment for our dogs. Chestnut Lodge is the perfect rental because it's close to all the surrounding activities and we will definitely return in the future.
First, the kids (4) had one of the best times of their lives. I could not get them to come in to eat, they want to be outside so much. Most nights they slept on the large screened in porch.
Second, the adults (3) ran like we where kids again. Went fishing in the BACKYARD!!!. Tubing for everyone....
Needless to say but I will, a spectacular time was had by all.
Logistics: this is just about at the center of everything we wanted to do. It is close enough to town to get supplies yet far enough away so we don't even know there is a town close by. Tubing was just about 1 mile away, which by the way the start point is in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park... the ending point the BACKYARD!
You will more than likely experience the same one issue we had. This vacation was too short for such an amazing place.
Chestnut Lodge was part of a near-perfect vacation. Our favorite parts of the property were the screened-in back porch, the fenced-in backyard area where the small children could play safely, and the deck overlooking Deep Creek. There were 8 of us and the house was very comfortable, and large enough that no one ever felt crowded. We ate outside on the deck every evening, enjoying the cool breeze from the creek. In addition to playing and tubing in the cold creek, we made trips to Bryson City for shopping (Buttermilk Farms = awesome shop), went whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, took the children to a nearby gem mine, took the scenic train ride through Nantahala Gorge, went to the shops and museum in Cherokee, enjoyed a couple of local restaurants, and went up the Road to Nowhere. The house is in a great location, with a short drive and easy access to everything we wanted to do. The owners were responsive and always helpful. We will be back!
