Perfect Cabin in Mt Desert

  • 5 of 5

My wife, dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Summerwood. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities that we needed. It was great to be so close to Acadia National Park and have a quiet and peaceful stay. This will be our first choice for return trips to Maine!

Great Stay on Mount Desert Island

  • 5 of 5

This is a very cozy 1 bedroom home in a fantastic location for Bar Harbor and the surrounding areas. They had a fold out couch and we were comfortable for a family of 4 plus our dog. The house is very clean, nicely decorated, and was a great place to come home after a long day cruising around Maine. The owner was very responsive and check in and check out could not have been easier. I would definitely recommend this rental!

Perfect location, perfect cottage, perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

Summerwood was exactly as advertised - extremely confortable and well-equipped - a real home away from home. It's location in Otter Creek village and in the park gave us easy acces to the trails and to the shuttle bus route. The Village market was very convenient and made AMAZING lobster rolls. We also loved the Sunday market in Bar Harbor and the Burning Tree for supper (both recommended by Peggy). All in all, a perfect stay and we really couldn't ask for more.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Bar Harbor, and we arrived to Acadia National Park being closed due to the government shutdown. Even so Peggy e-mailed us a list of things to do and places we could visit in and around the park, accessed via county roadways and short hikes; and hiking trails within the park that we could get to without having to drive into the park. Summerwood was a perfect home base for our week in the area, far enough away from the hustle & bustle of Bar Harbor but an easy drive of four to five miles when we wanted to go in for meals, shopping or activities in town. We loved our getaway to Maine, and Summerwood made it a special memory for us.

lovely vacation cottage

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a delightful week at Summerwood Cottage. It was everything in the description and more. The location couldn't have been more perfect - a quiet residential street, just a few steps away from the Otter Creek Market and the shuttle bus stop. One could manage fine without a car, though we did enjoy our drives along the park loop road.

The house itself was very clean, sunny, and roomy. We loved the high ceilings, old woodwork, and skylights. We had originally planned to be there as a couple, but in the end my daughter joined us and slept on the pull-out sofa. The house was plenty large enough to accommodate us all. We especially enjoyed spending time on the large covered porch. The only complaint we had was too many mosquitos, but that was pretty normal for summer. We loved cooking on the grill almost every night. Speaking of food, don't miss the lobster pizza from the market. And the Bar Harbor Brewing Company Ale.

We would definitely come back here on our next trip to Acadia. Thanks!!
