Enjoy your vacation at this fabulous round house in a tree-filled
setting, tastefully decorated, located on the tip of Indian Pass.
Indian Pass is located at the extreme west end of Apalachicola Bay
where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico. This conflux of fresh and
saltwater makes one the most fertile estuarine areas of the world.
While the area was settled by Native Americans for thousands of
years and then again by the early European explorers modern
civilization has conveniently skipped us over.
Long Known as Florida's 'Forgotten Coast' most of the inhabitants
here have fins or feathers. No high rises or motels but miles of
unspoiled beaches, succulent oysters, world class fishing and
spectacular sunsets. Beachcombers are greeted by miles of shells,
fossilized shark teeth and pottery shards from our earliest
This comfortable two-bedroom, two bath retreat offers lots of
privacy in a natural setting just steps (150 ft.) from the beach.
Wrap-around deck with chairs and a slight view of Indian Lagoon, lots of
wildlife, and great birding. Explore St. Vincent's Island across the
Pass. Bring your kayaks, canoes, binoculars, and camera. Excellent
fishing and crabbing, shelling and long walks on miles of pristine
beach. Private and peaceful.
Thank you for letting us enjoy The Barnacle---BEST VACATION WE'VE EVER HAD! And our dogs, Pinto & Chili agree! :-) Truly one of a kind house in a one of a kind location---we loved getting back to nature & enjoyed all of the outdoor activities!
We had everything we needed right here-----thank you for the great accommodations!
Still so much we wanted to do-----needed another week :-). We are sad to leave, but can't wait to return! Indian Pass is Awesome & The Barnacle is a great place to take it all in!
We had a wonderful time at our week long stay in the Barnacle. The cottage was delightful: attractive, clean and furnished with everything we could need. I especially enjoyed the kitchen, which had quality cookware and utensils. It was also a treat to have comfortable living room furniture. We have found that rental cottages are often lacking in both kitchen and living room amenities.
To top it all off, the Barnacle is located on charming Indian Pass. Indian Pass beach is beautiful, tranquil and just a short walk over a board walk, or down the street from the Barnacle.
When we return to the the Florida panhandle, we would love to stay at the Barnacle again.
Date of arrival February 18, 2017
Janis and Victor are wonderful hosts and the proper was exactly as advertised. The beach was steps from the house and was so peaceful. We will return
The barnacle is a perfect place for birdwatching in the treetops. We hit the beach in the morning and evening and chilled on the porch mid day. Perfect place to get away and relax.
Indian Pass is so laid back, no crowds, very little traffic, and EVERYONE is so friendly. The barnacle is quaint and comfortable; it is located just a few yards from the beach. Just a few step down a hidden like path and when you reach the end it’s like you are at a secret beach. On the beach you will meet friendly beachcombers and dog walkers. You can find endless amounts of shells. Our children loved finding whole sand dollars. If you love to fish, you can fish right off the beach. My husband fished every day, he tried the artificial bait but, yeah right the fish here go after fresh bait! I talked to Janice several times before our trip, she was very helpful in sharing information in regard to Indian Pass beach and surrounding areas, activities, stores (there is a Piggly Wiggly and a Dollar General to get groceries and that is it!!!) restaurants (our favorite was Joe Mama's Wood Fired Pizza) in the area she also helped me with knowing what to pack and what not to pack. This was a wonderful trip and we all came back very relaxed! If you want a 2 bedroom quiet house to spend lots of family time and cook together in you should look no further!!!! This was an amazing trip and house.
My sister and I went to Indian Pass looking for rest, quiet and an unspoiled beach. We really found that and more at the Barnacle. Up in the treetops - literally - it seemed like we were way out in the woods! The wildlife came around to visit, which we greatly enjoyed. The home itself is clean and very comfortable. The beach is quiet-if you want crazy party time this is not the place for you! But if you want to walk, rest, enjoy the sand and perhaps watch some fishing, this is the place for you. We will definitely be back. Oh don't miss the great oyster bar at the Indian Pass Trading Post. That was a blast too when we wanted to do something a bit higher key!
My family and I made reservations at the Barnacle for a weeks stay. My husband and I wanted a respite from work and to spend some quality time with our daughters before school started. The weather was iffy, cloudy, rainy and a little cooler than average. We didn't mind a bit. We cooked, played cards, watched the Olympics, got up early before the rain and took long walks with our dogs. We enjoyed our stay so much. The house was clean, comfortable and lovely. The beach was a boardwalk away. The scenery was beautiful. Our hosts Janis and Vincent were accomodating and welcomed us on arrival. On the whole we ate too much, slept too much, got a little too much sun and left sadly... a perfect vacation.
