For many years I searched for the ideal Maine Cabin / Camp and instantly fell in love with The Cabin. Beautifully constructed cabin with half log exterior, large field stone fireplace, beautiful sunsets, westerly views, long dock with easy shallow walk to deeper sections, are just a few of the reasons you'll find this an idea Maine rental.
Messalonskee Lake, also known as Snow Pond, is a pristine body of water 9 miles long. Part of the Belgrade Lake chain, this location offers spectacular views, crystalline waters, towering pines with birch and mixed hardwoods, nesting loons and a plethora of bird life.
If it's privacy you want - you will find it here! The Cabin is the only dwelling on the road, no one is to the left, only woods, and the next camp to the right has a wide buffer of trees between the properties.

'What a great week we had staying at The Cabin... The Cabin itself was so comfortable to stay in. Swimming, kayaking and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit!' Cathy and Lennie
'As soon as we drove down the lane and spotted 'The Cabin' we knew we were in a very special place for our vacation. Upon entering The Cabin our feelings were confirmed! From the comfy beds, shower and gas stove all of our expectations were exceeded... Catching a fish off the dock while watching a beautiful sunset was fun. After a full day, falling asleep each night to the calls of the loons was the perfect ending to a perfect day. We're looking forward to a 'return visit' Dan and Kathy
'What a delightful week! Peaceful, calm and serene are the words that come to mind. The water was refreshing - crystal clear! We appreciated all of the special touches - the videos, the kayaks, the fire pit, the beautiful fireplace, Internet access, etc. Weespecially enjoyed the heron, the bald eagle snatching fish from the lake and the family of loons... Fishing was great! Leaving is the most difficult part. Thanks for everything!' Sue, Matt, Micas, Seth, Julie and David
'The Cabin felt like home the minute we stepped into it - a cozy, relaxed atmosphere full of warmth... We'll be back.' John and Meg
'We enjoyed our stay very much, despite three days of rain. The paddle boat and kayaks were lots of fun. The water was perfect.'
'We had a wonderful week at The Cabin. So relaxing. Our days were filled with kayaking, swimming, cycling, running and lots of reading. The loons were in front most of the time - their calls at night made me smile. The fishing was great! Dad's 20 inch large mouth bass was the highlight of the week (especially his week!) Thank you for everything. We will be back in August 2009.' Heidi and Warren
I grew on Snow Pond (also know as Messalonskee Lake) in the 50's and 60's and have always loved the lake. I lived for 4 years year round on the lake and was dismayed to see so many of the cottages and cabins being torn down. So I started my search and when I saw the cabin I knew it was the place for me. I purchased it from the original owners with some of the original furniture. Come to find out the man who a build the cabin was my Grandfathers supervisor at a local woolen mill. It's very cool to know my dear grandparents sat in the very chairs I know have. The family camp still exists on the lake and hopefully will last.
Pamela Kick purchased this cabin in 2008
I fell in love with the cabin from the moment I saw it. The extra large living room with knotty pine, the huge field stone fireplace, the lovely kitchen and dining room (seating for 10) and especially the enclosed front porch. I could sit listening to the many birds and watching the lakes for hours on end. It really is a very special place.
Thank you for a wonderful spot to enjoy our vacation. The weather was perfect! We had a great time swimming, boating, reading, fishing (well, the guys did) and most of all, relaxing.
The cabin was great - we didn't want for anything. It was nice to meet you as well. Thanks again, Linda and Gere
What a relaxing vacation. I really felt that I got the much needed recharging to start the new school year.I was up there with my husband, 7 yr. old daughter and 2 golden retrievers. It was perfect for us. I only left the camp for groceries. I never nap at home, I napped there every day!!! Wonderful!
Quiet, peacful, but offers a lot for all ages. Loved the movies there.Plan on being there again nest year, maybe two weeks this time.
