|Minimum Stay||6 nights|
In beautiful Barrio El Cerrillo, 5 min walk to Plaza Santa Domingo, main market and all walking streets.... this is truly a home away from home ... it's set up with everything you need to feel comfortable.I've just completed a renovation which connects the house with a walkway and opened up the kitchen to the garden and corridor with lots of light.
You'll find 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a large brick fireplace in the living room and pot bellied stove in the kitchen/dining area. In the bedrooms you'll find lots of closet space with electric blankets and down duvets for those colder nights. The kitchen is fully equipped lots of work space as well as a ceiling fan for those warmer afternoons while cooking. Mexican brick and flagstone floors thruout the downstairs, with views of the city rooftops and mountains from the outside corridor.
The kitchen/dining area has an open air feel, the with large windows and doors viewing the garden,The dining room table seats 7-8 comfortably. The house is fully decorated with local crafts and fabrics, library of books, dvds, mini-component system, TV, and lots of other things to make you feel very much at home while in San Cristobal...Just about everything you could need during your stay is there.
There is full wifi internet throughout the house ...Local land line for calls in town but please, no long distance...I have a magic jack plus phone line with a local Los Angeles phone number making calls to and from the US and Canada free of charges (think Vonage) New Flat screen TV with apple tv, loads of dvd's and sound system connected. Also iPod connector in walkway with speakers and connection. The kitchen has just been renovated with new appliances and stocked for any cooks needs. Electric blankets available and down comforters for those chilly nights. There's always lots of hot water with a solar hot water system and back-up on demand hot water heater. Aquazon water filtration system in the kitchen making water from the unit free of bacteria and fine for drinking and cooking.
*This is an adults only rental!, The rental is for the bottom of the house with the upstairs bathroom and linen closet..The upstairs bedroom is not available with the rental, Handiman and Housekeeper once weekly and Gardener twice monthly included with all rentals.

I fell in love with San Cristobal many years ago and finally decided that this was the place I wanted to move to and spend my years. I currently work in Los Angeles and love my work, which is the only reason I'm not down there now. So I try and split my time in both places and make my home available for guests when I'm not there.
sherry klein purchased this house in 1991
I have a great staff that cares for the house while guests are present. We are walking distance to everywhere...and the house is gorgeous:-)
You will have everything you will need for an amazing stay at the house. The kitchen is a cooks delight, fully stocked with most of the cooking utensils needed to create any meal . It's my "home" and not just a rental property:-) Changeover day is flexible but Fridays are the best!

Everything I'd like to say has been said in previous reviews. Location is terrific: all major attractions within walking distance, ditto for very good restaurants. Street is quiet; garden, with an abundance of flowering plants, humming birds, even more so. As with many San Cris houses, the colonial house front is unassuming, making the delightful interior even more beguiling. We loved the variety of local crafts, obviously lovingly collected over the years - we noticed something new everyday (we were there for three weeks). The kitchen is a dream to work in, extremely well stocked, and since there is an enormous local market nearby, we cooked quite a bit. Evenings were fairly cold when we were there - we made good use of the living room chimenea, which worked flawlessly.
Teresa, the property manager, addressed every question that we had immediately and with great charm - we can't thank her enough. Our local birding guide, Alberto, was a real find, taking us to places that we would never have found on our own.
Stuck in Houston, waiting for a rescheduled flight home, but still dreaming of the jasmine cascading down the garden wall. An outstanding value.
We stayed at Sherry's casa for 3 weeks and had the most wonderful time. I have stayed at a lot of vacation rentals and Sherry's is the most well appointed by far. If you want to stay in for the night, wifi is good, there's access to Netflix and lots of DVDs and there's lots of cookware in the kitchen. If you want to go out, the casa is in a great location in town. There's no washer/dryer, but the lavanderia around the corner will wash, dry and fold for 10 pesos per kilo so I didn't miss doing laundry! And the water filter in the kitchen is such a bonus in Mexico.
All of the people that we interacted with were lovely. Gonzolo the taxi driver picked us up on time in Tuxtla and drove us to San Cris in his comfortable sedan. Teresa greeted us at the casa and explained everything in detail. She stayed in touch through WhatsApp to ensure all of our questions about the casa and getting around San Cris were answered. Clara the housekeeper and both gardeners are so sweet. Sherry herself was available for any questions and very attentive.
I have nothing but good things to say about our stay, and if we ever return to San Cris, I will certainly stay at Sherry's casa again!
We have stayed in many vacation rental houses in Europe and North America, and Sherry's house ranks among the very best. As pointed out in other reviews this is a very comfortable house conveniently located to various attractions such as the downtown area, St Domingo and the public market as well as Na Bolom. It has a large well equipped kitchen, a living room with comfortable chairs, a dining room that together with one of the bedrooms, the kitchen and living room overlooks a wonderful meticulously kept garden filled with flowers. It is clear that this is an owners house and not set up for the sole purpose of vacation rental. The manager, Teresa Berlioz is very efficient and helpful including arranging transfers from and to the airport. If we return to San Cristobal we will for sure want to stay in Sherry's house, and if any of friends plan on going to San Cristobal we will recommend that they stay in Shery's house.
Thank You Sherry, for the use of your wonderful hideaway in San Cristobal.Arriving at the end of February (cool & damp)we made good use of the fireplace in the evenings with a crackling wood fire.Arrival of March and a change in the weather (for the better),now able to relax in the small very private garden each afternoon with a cool drink.
The house is situated on the northern edge of town, but is just a few short blocks to Centro, if you head south.Leaving home turn left and 100 yards will you'll find yourselves at a small fountain (sans water)and the Italian restaurant (#1 Tripadvisor)
and right next door another different restaurant, both good food though not the cheapest in town.Turning left at the fountain 5 short blocks and your in Centro, but turn right 3 blocks puts you in the crowded hub-bub of the central market, fresh fruit veg meat fish flowers etc.should the market prove too rustic for your tastes, across the road you'll find a smaller supermarket, with bakery and pharmacy.Back at the fountain, if you proceed straight (west) 2 blocks and your at the artesans market with it's vast array of stalls.
The home suited our needs ideally, being both close to centro and markets and transportation. A word about transportation, depending which exit you take from the central market ,you'll find Colectivos (6 Pesos anywhere in town) or taxis. Sherry
was most attentive(via e-mail) even supplying her own gluten free recipes, with Teresa ( local) checking on us once a week.
Well equipped home ,excellent location, quiet (except for fireworks) and breakfast with the hummingbirds, altogether made a most satisfactory holiday!!!
Thanks again to Sherry and her aids. Ed Nanaimo BC Canada
We spent three weeks at Sherry's house on Dr. Navarro, we loved every bit of it. The house was beautifully decorated, clean and has a very homey feeling. Kitchen had everything you needed for cooking plus the water purifier was a wonderful. We especially loved the wooden drying racks above the sink. (never saw that before) The house blog had everything you needed and was very helpful. Sherry has a Magic Jack in the house to call USA free of charge which was a nice plus.
Teresa the house caretaker was very helpful and pleasant to work with. She would check in with us from time to time which was thoughtful. She even made arrangements for a taxi to take us to the Airport on our departure.
Clara (housekeeper) and Martin (handyman) we saw just shortly but both very pleasant.
We enjoyed sitting on the deck daily and soaking up the beautiful weather and peacefulness. Loved all the hummingbirds.
The house was in a great location and we loved walking the streets of San Cristobal. We especially enjoyed the outdoor market which was close by.
It was one of our top vacations and having Sherry's house as ours for three weeks topped it off. We would definitely recommend visiting San Cristobal and stay in this fabulous home.
Thanks for sharing your home with us!!

Lisbet and I cannot say enough about " Sherry's Charmin Casa " ! The house is as charming and beautiful as it appears in the photographs and Sherry's efforts to provide us with assistance and precise information regarding the house and payment policies prior to arriving and , transportation to and information about San Cristobal upon our arrival were exemplary. She could not have been more helpful ! Thank you so much Sherry !
The kitchen was exceedingly well equipped with everything we needed in order to feel at home and the cleaning lady , the gardner , the handyman and the property manager all helped to make our stay a truly wonderful and memorable experience.
Thanks to all of you and thanks to the hospitality of the people of San Cristobal all of whom made us feel welcome and made our time there so enjoyable.
We will be back !

This beautiful house was a delight to stay in. We were there for a month and everything works so well--its peaceful, comfortable, very well thought through. There is solar heating for the water, filtered water for drinking, a charming garden, a very well equipped kitchen. The house is full of Mexican art and perfectly maintained. The owner, manager, and staff were unobtrusive but accessible and helpful. Perfect in every way.

The Casa is set up as a home away from home, both for myself and the enjoyment of my guests. We're located in the historic district of town on Calle Dr. Navarro in the Barrio El Cerrillo ,2 blocks from the church of Santo Domingo and a 5 minute walk to the zocalo and main mercado. I was off this site for awhile during my construction so there is time-lapse for reviews here, more recent reviews listed on other sites!:-) ..... please be aware that This is an adults only rental and I'm sorry, but I'm no longer accepting pets!
