The house and its great location offers relaxed charm in exceptional natural beauty.
This is an old house that really feels like a "home" so you get to enjoy the charm and comfort of New England and relaxed back-country Maine. The home's location offers a very short walk to the free bus that takes you almost everywhere on Desert Island and frees you from traffic congestion and parking problems. Ten of us spanning three generations enjoyed the home and the spacious back yard and came away with good memories.
Comfortable, quiet surroundings with the Acadia National Park right outside the back door!
Cottage accommodated seven people nicely. Convenient updated appliances, comfortable sleeping arrangements, enjoyed the large yard and s'mores around the camp fire. Outstanding vacation spot!
So glad you enjoyed your week at Otter Lodge We love our location with
our Village totally surrounded by Acadia National Park, my favorite hikes
our just out the door and on one of the trails !
So glad to had s'mores by the firepit, what a great way to end you day
under the starry night sky that we have ....
We do hope you will stay with us again.
Very nice place to launch your Acadia adventure
The location allowed easy access to trails and all the things that Acadia and Bar Harbor had to offer - especially with a shuttle bus stop conveniently located.
The house had room to move and a wide comfortable kitchen for our group dinners.
Sorry we hadn't met the managers, as I am betting we would have gotten even more insider info on things to see.
So sorry we did not meet while you were here... that is one of my favorite things to do! Always here for any questions or information you may need.
So glad your group of 8 enjoyed your stay at Otter Lodge hope you had
several wonderful kayak trips and enjoyed the wonderful hiking! Please back and stay with us again..
Perfect place for our family gathering
There were 10 of us... we enjoyed our stay very much, great location , enjoyed the
firepit at night. nice cool breeze. kids went to hiking trail down the street .
Enjoyed the Otter Creek Markets Lobster Dinner on the picnic tables. We will
definitely stay here again. It is ideal for our family and this was our second stay.
Great location - quiet neighborhood - close to Bar Harbor and trails
We wanted to avoid the hustle & bustle of BH and this was a perfect spot. It was just a 10 minute drive in to town for dinner/shopping. The Otter Creek Market at the end of the street had all of our basic needs and we stopped in daily. We were also in close proximity to some great trails. It was a great home base for everything we wanted to do on MDI. We tried the free shuttle only once which was an easy 10 minute ride in, but a grueling 1.5 hour ride back due to the crazy amounts of holiday traffic on Park Loop Road.
The house was spacious, clean and well stocked. There were plenty of bed options which was convenient as parts of our family only stayed for part of the week. We enjoyed a fire in the backyard pit once and sat out in the sunny backyard multiple days and enjoyed the sound of birds & nature.
The house had one minor issue due to recent plumbing work and Peggy was very responsive and had it resolved in record time. They were great hosts - thank you so much! We'd love to come back in the fall sometime!
Great place for a family reunion
We rented the "Otter Lodge" for a family reunion. It was such a comfortable site for our event. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, the living room was comfortable for relaxing and visiting together. The yard included plenty of space for frisbee and eating outside. Even better, our large group was able to overflow into campsites in the adjacent Blackwoods Campground (NPS), the Otter Creek Inn (a small privately owned motel)as well as a second rental home owned by the same owner. There was plenty of room for everyone, all within easy walking distance. Otter Creek is so convenient, close to rock climbing at Otter Cliffs, hiking and biking throughout the park and cultural events in the town of Bar Harbor. The house is close to the park bus line so it's easy to get around.
Bar Harbor is just 3.5 miles away where you can find galleries,
restaurants, shops, tours, bicycle & kayak rentals etc..Acadia Nationl Parks newest hiking trail to Otter Cove
connecting to the Gorham Mountain Trail this opens miles of hiking from the cottage.... and just a short walk to the shore and Otter Cove
with connector trails to the BEST HIKING
(in our opion) in the Park !
We offer Wi-Fi
Within The Village of Otter Creek and the Otter Creek Market ,bus stop for the FREE Island Explorer Bus.:
Enjoy a Lobster Dinner or a great Lobster Roll at the
local Otter Creek Market or a great cup of coffee.
The Burning Tree - one of Maines finest gourmet restaurants in
walking distance (reservations strongly reccomended) Do stop in the little Otter Creek Market ,at the end of the street, my favorite place for a Lobster Dinner ! or coffee and muffin before starting your day...
Nearby are entrances to some of the best hiking trails in the Park,as well as ahuge variety of outdoor activities including canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, sailing and biking.
