About David Catalino

Grew up in New York State. Attended University of San Diego School of Law and fell in love with San Diego. This beach house started as a family venture with my mother and sister in 2002 and we still take care of all details ourselves.

David Catalino purchased this townhome in 2002

Why David Catalino chose Mission Beach

This beach in South Mission (Lifeguard Tower 10) is the biggest beach area in San Diego. There are volleyball courts and room for any beach game you can think of. You can also find an area of sand all for yourself for sunning.

The property faces south and gets sun on the patio all day long. Sunsets are visable all year long from the beach as the sun sets to the west over the water.

What makes this townhome unique

Large patio to grill and enjoy the sun and your family. Mainly families with young children stay in this area of South Mission Beach as it is away from the roller coaster and the teen action that is a short walk north.

Beautiful Balboa Ct Beachhouse

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been coming to Mission Beach twice a year for 8 years. We love the location of S Mission Beach area.

After reviewing this home on VRBO it was our choice for this trip. Dave was fantastic having checked in several times during the week to see how things were. He is an outstanding host.

The unit was comfortable with everything you need for a great week in the area.

We will be back to this VRBO. Our friends will also know about our great stay.

Owner's Response: Marcia, Thanks for your comments but I disagree with your analysis. I had all six neighbors complaining about the noise coming from my unit while your group was there for two weeks. I tried to work with you to minimize the noise and lobbied the neighbors to understand the noise of three children crying constantly was normal. Problem was you and your adult child did nothing to help the cause by a complete lack of attention to the three children under two years old who screamed constantly due to your lack of attention to them. Your lack of understand of the situation you caused was mind boggling. My compassion for your situation and helping out foster kids was the reason you were allowed to stay, inspite of breaking the house rules. Your first breach of the house rules was bringing 8 people when the unit Is advertised for a max of 6. You accomplished this by sending a reservation for 2 adults and 3 children and arriving with 3 adults and 5 children. This was a clear breach of house rules which limits any groups to six people. Your next breach of house rules was making noise that bothered neighbors and not just one but six. I bargained with them to let you stay. They requested that I ask you to leave but I insisted, and you be able to stay and that you would quiet your family down. Further complicating matters was that your adult son aggressively confronted a neighbor on the court when asked about the noise. That scared every neighbor from voicing their complaints about you, to you directly and the reason I had to intervene daily. I also refrained from rating your group on the HomeAway website and giving you the zero out of five stars you deserved because I applaud your work as a foster mom. While my duty is to provide a great unit and atmosphere to my guests, I must also provide a quiet environment for my neighbors. Your group was the most challenging I've had in my 15 years in the vacation rental business. Your negative criticism of my attempts to help you, in spite of breaking the house rules constantly, leaves me saddened. South Mission Beach is a quiet family area so North Mission Beach or Pacific Beach maybetter suit your family's needs. Sorry your experience was as bad as mine. Dave

Nice stay

  • 4 of 5

Nice house with privacy and room to relax. A bit noisy when people are upstairs, but I'm sure there is nothing that can be done about it. It wouldn't hurt to provide a king bed with more than a bed frame in the master bedroom. Bed easily slides around. Bedsheets had a hole in them. Love the living room, kitchen, and dining areas. Nice bathrooms too. Could use more beach towels.

Great location great memories

  • 4 of 5

My family of 5 just had a great week, enjoyed being so close to the beach and walking/biking distanct to so many great places. Access to the beach toys was a huge hit with my kids and the laundry was a huge hit for me. We will be back for sure.
