Lost River Cabin is a rustic log cabin located in the beautiful and picturesque Methow Valley in north central Washington State. The cabin is minutes from the North Cascades National Park and Pasayten Wilderness. The cabin is situated on an acre and issurrounded by tall pines - privacy plus! Lost River cabin is situated 20 miles west of the town of Winthrop.
The cabin has two bedrooms (queen/full), a spacious loft with deck, a full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room.
The cabin is completely outfitted for your comfort. Just bring your personal belongings and food and you're set for a great get away.
We always wanted a cabin in which to share with family and friends. It's in a great recreation area of Washington state and it is quite different from our primary home. We enjoy the outdoors, the sunny weather, and the beauty of all four seasons.
We had a great time at the cabin. We were greated by 2 bucks who lounged near the hammock most of the afternoon. We were disappointed we weren't able to see any airplanes land, but enjoyed walking around the landing strip. I hope we left the place in order.

This is very lovely cabin in great condition in a very beautiful area. It is quiet and the stars are amazing at night. The guest book revealed that some guests have been renting this cabin for their vacations for 30 years!!! We (me and my husband and two kids 5 and 7) stayed for 7 nights and enjoyed this place very much. The living area is cozy. The kids enjoyed watching Nick Jr on cable TV. We enjoyed the cabin's DVD selection as well. The kitchen is well equipped. We had canned and microwaved foods and frozen pizza that we baked in the oven. There is a gas stove (I think) but we didn't want to bother with cooking. The dishes and utensils are in great shape. The bathroom is clean and adequate. The kids took the upstairs loft queen bed and my husband and I took the downstairs full bed. There is adequate storage and closet space. The washing machine and dryer are clean and functional and I appreciate the cabin's well stocked household detergents and towels and paper products and even found a bottle of permethrin spray when a wasp invaded the cabin. Once a moth came into the cabin when we left the door open and it was dark outside. Other than that, we didn't see any mosquitoes or other insects. There is no cell phone signal but the Internet/Wifi is great and I used Skype to call my voice mail to check messages. The cabin truly has everything you need except for food and gear for your outdoors activities. Would definitely stay here again if we return.
By the way the cabin is located at the northern end of the Methow Valley and there is plenty to do there. The general store/gas station is 6-7 miles away and it is a beautiful establishment with a cafe and ready-made sandwiches you can take for your day out and a great selection of organic produce and frozen items. There is a nice souvenir section too. There is hiking and biking and horseback riding in the summer (and crosscountry skiing in the winter I assume). We drove up Hart's Pass (the highest road in Washington) and that was not for the faint of heart (great views all the way up and down. It was one-lane, unpaved, winding and without guardrails.) We were also able to drive from our cabin to the Mt. Baker area, the Cascade River Road, Chelan and Leavenworth. It is a very good base camp for a family vacation in the North Cascades.
The cabin itself was fantastic. Very relaxing and close enough to Slate Peak to make a nice little day trip. Unfortunately there were also a few issues. The grill was filthy and caked with grease, to the point that when we tried to use it the grease caught on fire and we needed to use baking soda to put it out. We cleaned the grill ourselves for the sake of future guests because it's a safety issue and we'd hate to see a fire. Lastly, there was a used tampon applicator on the bathroom counter next to the sink---definitely not something you'd want to find upon arrival. (Perhaps left by the cleaning crew?) Other than those two issues the stay was awesome and we would return. Lovely area and the cabin was quite comfortable and beautiful.
It was exactly what we were expecting from the pictures. There were more neighbours then we thought there would be. But it was still nice. Get the groceries in Winthrop, as the Mazama store was quite expensive. The beds were comfortable. And Ginger "the canyon" dog came every day to visit.
This was located close to the sno park so we could ride our snowmobiles right to the mountain. Not alot of parking for our trucks and trailers was the only issue but we figured it out. The cabin is cozy and has everything you need. Location is beautiful. We will definitely stay there agian!
Lost River Cabin is a delightful, cozy retreat (and pet-friendly!!). With the surrounding wilderness, access to Winthrop and proximity to trail heads, it is an ideal place to unwind and experience some adventure. The cabin is immaculate and the kitchen is well-stocked. The wood burning fireplace adds an elemental ambiance to an atmosphere that already promotes a relaxed 'down-shifting' mode. The owners are superior hosts; gracious, friendly and always accommodating.
My friend and I had a great weekend of relaxation and fun starting with a beautiful drive over the North Cascades highway. We went on a 3 mile hike in the misty rain to some falls and then had a delicious dinner at Mazama Country Inn. That cabin was cozy and warm with the wood burning stove and all the amenities we could ask for. I would love to stay there again.
