Overview

Bridport Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

6 bedroom farmhouse to sleep 16 in the countryside of the Marshwood Vale

Taphouse Farm has a large detached stone and brick built house with a slate roof. The farmhouse is situated in the peaceful, picturesque Marshwood Vale; an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The farmhouse has 6 bedrooms, (2 family ensuites) and 2 bathrooms and sleeps 16 plus 2 cots. It has full central heating run off an oil-fired boiler and log fire in the lounge. All exterior doors and windows are double glazed. At the front side of the house is a (12'x8') double glazed conservatory and sliding patio doors to the garden, ideal for that evening drink and barbecue. There is a large stoned patio area with wooden picnic tables and bbq.THERE IS A HOT TUB ON THE PATIO.

The large games barn has a skittle alley, table tennis, 6x3'pool and snooker tables and darts board. There are plenty of car parking spaces near the house and games room.

Guests are welcome to come to the main farm to watch the milking, see baby calves, beef animals, sheep, and dogs. Lambing is usually between February and April. Watch sheep and cattle in the fields in spring and summer out over the garden fence. We also grow winter wheat, spring barley, forage maize and various crops for animal feed. We will be pleased to show you around and answer any questions. We are inspected annually for ABM/FABBL Beef and Lambs Scheme and NDFAS for milk production.

Directions to Taphouse Farmhouse - The easiest way to come is via the village of Marshwood. Turn off the B3165 beside the Church and School at Marshwood; follow this road about 2 miles until a four cross road. Here turn right to Whitchurch Canonicorum and Taphouse Farm is the first farm you will come too on the right side of the road. You may come from the A35 Bridport to Charmouth road. At Morcombelake near the Artwave turn to Whitchurch Canonicorum, follow until a four cross road in the village, here turn right, go past the Village Hall once the School. Take first left marked Gassons Lane, opposite the Berehayes Holiday Cottages, marked Bettiscombe and Marshwood. Follow this road 2.5.miles ignoring all farm entrances until a four cross, here turn left and Taphouse is immediately on you left. We wish you a safe and pleasant journey and if the weather is very wet please use the first instructions, as occasionally the River Char will cover the road near Whitchurch.

The perfect week away in the countryside!

  • 4 of 5

16 of us came to stay for a week aged between 11 - 77, we had the most amazing time and were all very sad to leave. The clean homely cottage is spacious, warm and has all the amenities you could possibly need (including enough saucepans, oven space etc. to cook an Easter roast for 16 people). It is set in an idyllic location with a lovely garden over looking fields (the swing was a big hit). The games room kept everyone entertained in the evenings along with the well maintained hot tub. Although it is in the middle of nowhere, everyone we bumped into was very friendly, including the farmers who came over to talk to the children about the cows and sheep. It is the perfect place to get away from everyday life, and we would all highly recommend it :)

Great place

  • 5 of 5

12 of us had a great long weekend here. Good comfortable house, with a well equipped kitchen, and a comfy lounge. Particularly liked the fire.

Games barn and hot tub really made the weekend. Would definitely come back.

Weekend to remember in glorious countryside.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time, especially the children who loved the games room and the run of the garden and the adults adored the hot tub. That was a bonus! The house was warm, clean and enough space for 15 of us. Would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the showers. Enjoyed being near the coast, too

Tap House Farmhouse - Peaceful relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the house in the middle of a downpour, but spirits lifted when we saw the farmhouse. The house is an ideal destination for a larger party. The hot tub is a dream and the games room great fun of an evening. We all had a great time and would be happy to return, (a sign of a good holiday). The area is fantastic.

Yes it is isolated but to us it was part of the charm, if you want bright lights and night life you will have to drive. Personally I enjoyed the peace and relaxation. Remember it's a farmhouse !

Spacious but run down

  • 3 of 5

For 17people it was spacious enough. Hot tub, very dirty on arrival, thick scum when bubbles turned on, owner did change the water which improved it. Kitchen quite well, equipped. All showers need attention and shower heads cleaning, they were spurting or dribbling. Some towel rails broken, some sink plugs didn't work. Fold up bed base unusable, too many gaps, put mattress on floor. Games room, good equipment but very dirty, especially mattress at the end of the bowls run, it was full of dirt. Good outdoor space, children enjoyed that. Spent most of our time on the beach. Excellent fish and chip shop in Charmouth. Would recommend with reservations.

Owner's Response: 1.Taphouse is in a hard water area so by the end of a week the showers/shower heads will scale up slightly but they are always good on arrival. 2.The Games 'Barn' not room is cleaned on changeover days. It is a barn with painted concrete floor, painted stone walls plus exposed beams. The mattress is there to help protect the walls from the skittles balls and is replaced regularly. 3.The Hot tub levels are checked 3/4 times a week during the day time when guests are out. The water is changed regulary, more so in the summer but it takes a day to empty it, clean it and refill it then 48 hours to reheat it. With 16 persons using it and if they leave the jets going when they leave it will look cloudy very quickly, obviously we cannot police this. 4.We have a yearly 'Quality in Tourism' inspection and we are comfortably 3 Stars. We are 1 point below 4 Stars because we offer bedding as an optional extra rather then include it. 5.We will sort any issues you have with the house but would appreciate being told whilst you are there rather than when you leave. We can then do our best to fix it or replace an item, we keep lots of spares.
