The cottage is in the country apart from any town or village. You may experience any type of weather to color your stay. Both my husband and I work fulltime and live next door. The cottage has been in the family since the 1960s. Most of the neighbors have been owners for almost as long. We enjoyed the cottage with our children since we moved back to Door County in 1983. In 2001, the cottage was totally gutted with the 350 sq. ft. kitchen added. In 2007, we built a home next door and began renting the cottage. We still care for it as our home and truly want each guest to have a memorable stay.
My husband and I stayed in this beautiful cottage for a delightful week. We rested in quiet with nature all around- deer, birds, the bay outside our huge windows. We watched gorgeous sunsets with a bonfire steps down from the cottage. Everything needed was there from kitchen things to wood for the bonfire. Comfortable anywhere in the house from cozy bed to comfy chairs, deck adirondacks , even rockers. The views were stunning and the tall windows made it even better. The golden glow of the inside with all wood beams, ceiling, walls and floors was so beautiful.
We hiked in a national forest every day but one. The trails were varied and peaceful. We loved the hiking! One day it rained and we gratefully stayed in the cottage to read, rest and enjoy just being there. Great for a couple! A wonderful treat you will not want to miss.
Thank you for your gracious hosting, Trudy and Mark and sharing this gem.
We had the fortune of staying at Toft's Point-West the week of July 11th. We had high expectations based on previous reviews and we were not disappointed! The process of renting the home was professional and seamless with Trudy at the helm. The cottage is clean, remote, and provides breath taking views of lake Michigan sunsets. We love coming to Door County and now have a special favorite place to stay.
We stayed here the week of the 4th of July. We have a 2-year-old and were so excited to have some time away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. The Tofts went out of their way to make sure that they made the cottage safe for our little girl by wrapping up the corners of the fireplace. We loved all the yard space, and the location was perfect for kayaking and watching the beautiful sunsets in the evening. We very strongly recommend this place. In response to another reviewer's comments about no wi-fi, that is just the way it is in that part of Door County. It is a nice excuse to disconnect, and there is a wonderful little coffee shop called the Chocolate Chicken where you can connect to the Wi-Fi for free while you have a treat. It is one of the only places in Egg Harbor you can connect.
This was our first stay at Toft’s Point West, and the place was perfect for our needs. The cottage is clean and comfortable, and the bed in the bedroom was comfy. We loved the many big windows, with beautiful views out all of them. Even though there are big windows, the property is wooded and the cottage feels very private. We have been to Door County many times and while there are many things we love to do there, it was hard to pull ourselves away from the cottage because it was so pleasant. Each time we left for an outing, we were so happy to get back. We had planned to mostly eat out, but our favorite meals (with the exception of the Friday night fish fry at the Sister Bay Bowl which should not be missed) were the ones we cooked at the cottage and ate sitting at the table looking out the windows! The kitchen was nicely stocked with plates, pots, pans, etc, and we had everything we needed. We spent most of our time outside because it was so beautiful. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee and eating breakfast on the deck attached to the house. After some morning/afternoon activities (our favorite was riding our bikes in Peninsula State Park and visiting Cave’s Point) we'd return and head down to the waterfront to watch the amazing sunsets perched in comfortable adirondack chairs. At night, we enjoyed the fire pit down by the waterfront (thanks to the owners for a plentiful supply of wood). We loved the natural surroundings and all the animal activity (squirrels, rose breasted grosbeaks chipmunks, hummingbirds, a loon, pelicans, etc). We also appreciated the fresh flowers in vases that were set on the deck and kitchen tables to welcome us (beautiful irises and peonies). The owners live next door and are perfect hosts – they are there if you need anything, but fully respectful of your privacy. We’ll be back!
PRO: Quiet, picturesque location on a very rocky shore; a pretty one-bedroom cottage with a supersized kitchen. CON: Deck is large but unsafe with many rusted nails protruding from every board. Ants were found throughout the cottage (needs an exterminator). Owner's customer service skills are seriously lacking -- she hadn't even put sheets on the bed when we arrived (at the official check in time) and scolded us when her own cat snuck into the non-pet friendly cottage. The advertised Wi-Fi is hardly ever available, and cell reception is spotty, so understand that you will be "away from it all" if you come here. BOTTOM LINE: Cheaper, cleaner places available in Door County with better customer service, but the view of the water is pretty sweet from this updated cottage.
We stayed at Toft's point during our honeymoon in May. It was perfect! The cabin was neat and cleans and included all the amenities needed. The property is quiet and tucked back from the road but close enough to run into Egg Harbor for dinner or anything else. We utilized the full kitchen and stayed in one night...spectacular sunset views! Views of the lake from every room. I recommend this cottage to anyone looking to stay in Door County. You can beat the cleanliness of the cottage, the lake views and location. We look forward to staying here in the future.
