Large stone farm house with modern conveniences in the Texas hill
country west of Kerrville. Located on a private road (104 Easy St) off Hwy 39
between Ingram and Hunt across from the Guadalupe river.
Four bedrooms and 3 baths. A king in the master and 1 twin in the mother-in-law BR share a bath, 2 twins in the middle BR have a private bath w/tub and 3 twins in the loft with a shower. Sleeps 7 to 8 adults. Great for large or multigeneration families.
Papa Mac purchased this 1890s stone farm house and defunct dairy as a get away from it all. His personal Easy street. He promptly improved the farm house and added a studio and cottage. Soon after he added a pool, the first in the county. His wife, Edith, a painter, inspired and was the driving force to found the Hill Country Arts Foundation down the road. Along with assistance founding the art club and garden league, the family became a part of the area's history. Throughout the years multiple generations of the family have lived at Bumblebee Lodge and continued her legacy at the Hill Country Arts Foundation.
Rocky McAshan purchased this house in 1945
Reasonably priced with lots of space, unique charm, and a large pool.
The ability to rent both the lodge and the cottage, as well as the large amount of parking available, makes this an ideal spot for family reunions.
Continuing with Papa Mac's theme of "getting away from it all" this also makes an ideal location for short or long term rentals here, on Easy Street.
We had a wonderful time! Lots of good friends and a family reunion. Sleeping arrangements were great, as were all the spots for visiting and gaming. Thanks again for a third wonderful few days.
If you are looking for some quiet family fun, this is the place to go. Overall, my family had a very pleasant stay at this house. The central heat and air worked well. There is an extra window a/c upstairs. There are a lot of different games, toys, high chairs, pots, pans, utensils, seating areas, etc. On one day out, when we returned, there was lost power in the kitchen, but after finally finding the breaker box, we reset it and didn't have any more problems. The upstairs beds (3) were not comfortable at all, but small kids may not complain. The downstairs beds (2) were very comfortable. There is an old electric coffee maker (bring your own filters and coffee). The bathrooms and showers are a good size with good pressure with plenty of hot water. The fireplace was nice but needed a good cleaning (dirty and full of ash). The floor downstairs is very squeaky. There is a musty old smell, especially in the room with all the old books. My son who has asthma had a really hard time trying to sleep with all the dust and mustiness and needed his inhaler frequently. We loved the piano. The pool could have used a good cleaning, however, that didn't stop my teenagers from jumping in. Someone eventually did show up during our four night stay to try and clean the pool and turn the water on for the water slide (which was turned off again on the morning of our departing day). We liked there is a BBQ pit, but the patio furniture needs cleaning and seat pads need to be replaced. We weren't able to enjoy the patio as much as we wanted. We just put a blanket on the wooden rocking bench so we could sit. Nobody bothered us the entire stay which was nice. The house is very roomy for large groups. Overall, a very nice and quiet stay. Definitely worth the money paid, and I got my deposit back quickly. There is no direct river access. It seems this was an awesome place at one time, but could use a little updating to make it awesome again. With particular attention to the outdoor seating areas. Afterall, that's where you want to be during vacation, outdoors enjoying the sun and sitting by the pool. 😎
The house/lodge was so nice and large. Room for quite time and fun all in the same hour. The weather was a little cool for the pool, but that is a large and family friendly pool. The yard area is clean and very safe for kids and fur babies. We didn't spend much time at the property, but noticed the nice stairs to the creek. The nights were beautiful and we felt very safe in this area. We will be finding another long weekend to visit.
Plenty of room for a family/group!
Rustic with plenty of character
The house is nice and has a real home like feel. Plenty of room. Kids loved the piano . Was too cold to enjoy the pool but kids really wanted to get in lol! Bed is comfortable. Will come back when warmer
Plenty of room for everyone and the pool is a bonus! A great value for what is offered - would recommend to any family that enjoys space and seclusion!
We had a couple small issues during our stay, but be confident that the owner has very good customer service and will work with you to make your stay enjoyable!
