Can't imagine a better vacation rental in the Sacred Valley
The home and grounds are fabulous and the photos do not do it justice. Be prepared to be blown away. The grounds are so amazing that you won't want to leave to explore the Sacred Valley. You are surrounded by fruit trees and hummingbirds. It's hard to decide on which deck to sit and relax or which fruit to sample next.
The location is perfect (Sillacancha is the name). It's an easy trip by collectivos (1 sole, flag them down at the roadside) to Urumbamba (ATM, mercardo, lots of restaurants) or smaller town of Calca. It's a great location to visit MP, Ollantaytambo, Pisac, Sky Lodge zipline, SV brewery and more.
There is great hiking from the house up a side valley. You can hike to a waterfall from the house or to the village of Cancha Cancha and lakes just beyond (steep but worth it). Our only complaint is that we had to leave. There is so much more to do and explore.
There is a small store just out the gate that has surprising just about anything you may need (including veggies, yeast, flour etc to make pizzas in the pizza oven). The kitchen has everything you need and they even stock the fridge a bit before you arrive.
Alvaro is sweet and is good at using Google translate if your Spanish isn't great. The caretakers, Naomi and Elias are wonderful and willing to help take care of any need.
Our kids loved the family's sweet dogs and floating wooden kayaks (carved sticks) through the irrigation channels/waterfalls (beautifully designed part of the landscape) that run all around the property. Our kids begged us to just stay at the house---this is unreal in our adventure seeking family.
A previous review mentioned lack of hot water. That must have been resolved, as we had plenty. You do have to be careful not to run any other water at the same time though, which is no big deal. Wifi wasn't working while we were there, but we were able to pick up LTE signal from time to time and always had a cell signal (I have AT&T).
There are 3-4 homes within the gate, but it's very private due to the landscaping.
We can't wait to return.
Thank you for your comments and we hope to have you back soon in our little paradise.
Beautiful and relaxing home and property
Our family of 5 (3 teenagers) stayed for 3 nights near the end of our Peru adventure. The home is clean, beautiful and spacious and the grounds are spectacular. We felt completely safe and secure the entire stay. The home is in a gated/fenced compound with a few other houses, and you have access to all the gardens and the pool building where we played games at one of the tables and the kids swam a couple of times. There is also croquet and bocce ball where you can play out on one of the lawns. The lady who looks after you (Noemi) is so lovely, kind and helpful and even though we had a bit of a language barrier, I enjoyed her and her family so much. She had beautiful flower arrangements throughout the house and the fridge was stocked with fresh fruit, meats, cheeses and drinks when we arrived. It was such a welcome few days of relaxation. Noemi arranged for a horseback ride for us up to a waterfall, they pick you up with the horses at the back gate, which was one of the kid's favourite things. The owner and caretakers speak very little english and we speak very little spanish; however we were able to communicate with google translate, charades and alot of laughter.
There are only two downsides of the home. One is that the house is located in a small town in between Urubamba and Calca and since we didn't have a rental car we felt a little isolated; however we figured out the collectivo system and were able to get to Urubamba and back for 2 soles each. (just remember to ask for the name of the little town to come back to, we didn't and had a whole collectivo of non-english speaking locals worried about us and trying to help:)) To get the collectivo, just go to the main road and stand on the side of whichever direction you want to go and flag one down (they come by every few minutes). I recommend checking out Calca, we went through it on our way back to Cusco and it looked like a great town. The second downside is the hot water. There is very little hot water and we could only figure out showering in one of the bathrooms by showering for one minute until the water turns cold, turning the water off for a minute and then turning it back on for a minute. Maybe there is another trick?
Overall, it is a fabulous and relaxing home in the center of the sacred valley. I would definitely come back, I would just rent a car in Cusco and drive out.
Thanks Noemi for taking such good care of us!
My family and I love this place. We will definitely come back
Our staying at this beautiful cabin was amazing. My kids fell in love with the adorable pets, the big gardens, and the swimming pool. All the installations were clean and all furniture were of great quality. Noemi, the house keeper, was very kind, attentive and very helpful with everything we needed. This property is huge, private, safe and very well taken care of. Pictures cannot portray the beauty of this property. Mr. Alvaro Morante, the owner, was an excellent host. I will definitively recommend this place.
Grateful for the concepts poured and we will always be attentive to attend all our guests with the same affection and care possible.
From the Lanazca family we can say that they are very respectful, careful and delicate people, they are a very nice and especially educated family.
