Cosy Farm Cottage in the Heart of Dorset

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Lovingly renovated farm lodge; large private garden; brilliant views. Sleeps 5

Cosy Victorian farm lodge full of character, with its own private garden and broad horizon views over the downs. Newly and lovingly renovated and redecorated throughout. Located on a working family farm in the heart of the Dorset countryside, but also just 30 minutes from the World Heritage Jurassic coast. Family friendly or good for group of friends.

Furnished with an eclectic mix of modern and period furniture, North Lodge has two bedrooms with comfortable king size beds, original scrubbed pine doors and detailing, and views for many miles over the country landscape. For comfort, Sealy posturepedic mattresses and DORMA anti allergy duvets.

Single bedroom on the ground floor, can alternatively be used as a study. Freshly laundered linen and towels provided.

At the centre of the house, the dining room with timber floor. Large, comfortable sitting room with wood-burning stove and TV. Brand new well-equipped kitchen with Travertine tiled floor and dishwasher. Modern bathroom with shower over. Utility room with washing machine and drier.

Large private garden with outdoor furniture and bbq.

Wonderful walking on the farm and in many areas close by, both coast and countryside - and along the river Stour at Blandford for example. Mountain biking on the farm and at other locations nearby.

The house is entirely private with its own garden, but we live not far away on the farm. Easy to contact us at any stage before or during your visit if have any questions or need assistance.

We are about 1 mile from the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum, with butcher and baker, M&S food shop and Tesco, as well as places to eat and drink.

Further afield there are excellent gastropubs and restaurants, real ale pubs and even a Gin House (in Wimborne). Hod and Hambledon hills and Bulbarrow, with outstanding views, are just a short drive away.

The cottage provides an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of England, from the Jurassic Coast to the Cerne Giant; Hardy's cottage and Shaftesbury's famous Goldhill; many sandy beaches including Sandbanks and Studland; shopping in Bournemouth and Poole; Monkey World, Corfe Castle and Bovington Tank Museum; Compton Acres and Stourhead; Dorchester and Poundbury; to name just a few.

The house is on a farm without ready access to public transport so you will need a car. There is parking next to the cottage for two cars.

The house is fully equipped to help you enjoy your stay, including:

Family-friendly items: high chair, booster seats, travel cot, selection of childrens' DVDs, books and games

Bath amenities: hair dryer, toiletries, towels, child loo seat

Entertainment: WiFi, flat screen TV

A charming country cottage with lovely owners

  • 4 of 5

We arrived early but the owner came to let us in and bought us a lovely homemade cake! The cottage is charming and has a nice big garden. The kitchen is large and well appointed. We really enjoyed staying here.

We had a great 4 day stay. The cottage has everything you need and is so well equipped. So homely & cosy and with great comfy beds. Shame about the weather we had, but hope to come back in the summer and enjoy the great garden & stunning view. I would defiantly highly recommend a stay here.

Stayed 4 nights in May. We had a wonderful holiday. The cottage is really well decorated, spotlessly clean with everything you need. Hosts Westrow and Helen were very welcoming even left us gorgeous home made cake and were really helpful with ideas of where to visit in the area. Beautiful views form the garden.
