Perfect cottage for couple or single guest in quiet, village with great pub

Character cottage for two in the centre of this pretty conservation village of Paxton on the Scottish Borders.It is pet friendly and there is no charge for one dog.

This cosy 19th century cottage has been fully modernised to a high four star standard and has free WiFi. It has a full kitchen area with granite worktops, dishwasher, oven, washing machine etc. The open plan lounge and dining area offers a flat screen tv above the old stone fire place and full central heating. Upstairs there is an ensuite bathroom with large walk in shower with modern rainhead fittings. The vanity unit has illuminated mirror above and is provided with organic soap and shampoo. Naturally we provide fluffy Egyptian Cotton towels kept warm on the heated designer towel rail.

The queen size double bed has pillow topper mattress and cotton sheets with the option of duvet or blankets. There is a second tv provided. Hot chocolate and tea making facilites included.

We provide a Welcome basket with a selection of local goodies including home made jam and shortbread and our dog friends get dog treats too. Water bowl, poo bags and dog towels are included for their comfort too.

The conservation village of Paxton has a great pub that serves excellent meals. The Palladian country House of Paxton is a short walk from the cottage and there are delightful riverside walks along the Tweed. up to the historic Chain Bridge or down stream to Berwick. Enjoy a pleasant walk around this ancient town with its medieval walls and arches and there are sandy beaches at Spittal nearby. Of course a visit to this area should include a visit to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and then along the coast to Seahouses or Bamburgh Castle. Up the coast of Berwickshire you will find the charming harbour of St Abbs and the horseshoe Bay at Coldingham.

Find time to travel inland to visit Duns Castle and walks, Jim Clark Tropy room and the magnificent Edwardian House of Manderston. The Lammermuir Hills and the Cheviot Hills are great form walking and cycling and a cycle shed is provided in the parking space at Tweed Cottage

John and I have been involved in tourism for many years and aim for the highest standards achievable in character and historic properties. Our small group are all four star and our English properties achieve GOLD (award not available in Scotland) John is a musician and conductor and in his spare time. Christine is a board member of the Scottish Association of Scottish Self Caterers and other professional organisations. We have run and owned large hotels and award winning pubs in Scotland achieving the prestigious National Pub of the Year award. Our interests are music, fine dining and cooking, dog walking and holidaying

Tweed is a gem set in the conservation village of Paxton. We fell in love with it as our aim is provide quality cottages for the single traveller or for couples. The cottage is within walking distance of the river Tweed and Paxton House. It also has an terrific friendly pub just two minutes walk away.

Cosy and welcoming and in a great location. We love the 'cottage features' - beams, stone fireplace and an unattached garden 25 metres away and next to the dedicated parking space There was space to erect a cycle shed especially for the many cyclists who love the quiet roads
