This exceptionally well modernised, Cape Cod style family home, located in the village of Tregurrian offers an enormous amount of living accommodation for 2 or more families wishing to holiday in the increasingly popular Watergate Bay area, 3 miles north of Newquay.
The house offers 4,000 square feet of internal space comprising 7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, a huge modern kitchen diner with black granite work top and games room, complete with half size slate bed snooker table. The property is fitted out with solid oak wood flooring and slate tiles and limestone tiling in the bathrooms. Sleeping up to 14, it is ideal for family groups & is just a short walk from renowned Watergate Bay and its many amenities (including 15 Cornwall, the new Jamie Oliver restaurant).
We have also built a large west facing decked terrace running along the front of the property above the garden that allows you to enjoy the sun late on into the evening.
The house is in a fantastic location - it is literally 2 minutes from Newquay airport and you can walk to Watergate Bay in 10 minutes. Drives out to Padstow, Newquay and other bays very easy.
The whole booking process through the owner was simple and efficient.
The house itself is deceptively large, with 7 good sized bedrooms.
We were a party of 11 and there was more than enough space for all of us.
The kitchen is large and was able to seat all for dinner which was nice, and there is a nice outdoor space for BBQ's and social gatherings.
The pool table, bar area and table tennis table got the most use and provided us with many hours of amusement.
There is also a nice lounge with SKY tv and comfortable furniture.
Would highly recommend this house for group/large family gatherings
We stayed in this beautiful house for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary, a party of 12 adults, 2 young children and a baby. As soon as we unlocked the door we were blown away by the size, decoration and layout of the property. The bedrooms were well decorated and comfortable, as were the many bathrooms. The hot water was constant and the heating was adequate when needed. There is a spacious, well appointed kitchen with enough space to relax in the other downstairs rooms also. It is set in a lovely garden with a beautiful sea view from the front facing bedrooms. The owner was constantly in touch with us and was quick to refund the deposit on our arrival home. This is the place to go for a large party in Cornwall, providing you respect the property. We will be returning at some time in the future and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
Stayed with a group of friends for 4 nights, had a great time. All the rooms are very nice, and the facilities in the house are excellent. The decking on the front is brilliant for when the sun comes out.
Short 10 minute walk down to the beach at Watergate Bay and only a 10-15 minute drive to Newquay.
Would highly recommend this house for groups and families, we would love to go back.
We were looking for family holiday accommodation for a Golden Wedding Celebration. There would be thirteen in the party with ages running from eighty to five. One problem we had was that we required individual bedrooms. Many large holiday homes had dormitory type bedrooms, however the Blue House was ideal, having seven bedrooms.
On arrival we found an impressive large house with blue painted weatherboarding. The gravel drive easily took our four cars. We entered the large light airy hall which gave a nice first impression. Turning to the left we found a games room with table tennis table, television and a selection of games for all ages.
Beyond the games room was the very large kitchen dining room. A large refectory type table with bench seats was of an ample size to seat all the family. There was also a seating area where the family tended to congregate whilst meals were being prepared which was a nice touch. In the kitchen area a central island provided ample work surface as well as the surrounding work surfaces. A large American style frig-freezer provided both food storage and supplied chilled water and ice. A wine chiller was fitted under the central island. Two dishwashers were provided although due to the plumbing could only be used one at a time but this was not a problem.
Ample crockery. glassware and cutlery was available. The family cooks did not want for any cooking equipment. A utility room leading off the kitchen contained the washing machine, drier, ironing board, etc as well as a toilet Overall we were extremely impressed with the domestic set-up.
Returning to the hall, there was a comfortable sitting room at the rear of the building, with ample settees and armchairs. A large television with Sky completed the room and off the room was a small office with access to the internet.
To the left of the hall was a room containing a small snooker table and a bar. We did not use this much but could see that it would be popular with somewhat lower age group. Beyond this room was the first of the seven bedrooms together with a separate bathroom.
Going up the main staircase there was a corridor running almost the whole of the house. At either end there were two en-suite bedroom and mid-way were two more bedrooms serviced with a separate bathroom. At the right end of the house was a separate floor containing two more bedrooms and a bathroom reached by a second staircase.
Watergate Bay is beautiful and The Blue House is an absolutely fabulous place to stay. There were 13 of us for a Hen Weekend and the house is big enough to provide personal space but homely enough to accomodate us for meals together and a cosy night in on one of the nights. Really nicely decorated and had everything we needed. Can't recommend this place enough!
My wife Monica and I and our family of three daughters, their husbands and five grandchildren aged from eight to eighteen have just spent the most delightful week in The Blue House celebrating our Golden Wedding. The listing description was absolutely accurate, the property was exceptionally clean and well-maintained and provided ample space for a large family. The kitchen/dining area was superb with excellent space and a ful range of equipment. The lounges were first-class with Sky TV, internet facilities anbd a snooker/pool table. The lawned garden was excellent. The ensuite bedrooms were among the best we have ever encountered. The owner's customer service was excellent.
The proximity to a quite superb Cornish beach (a surfer's paradise) was most welcome. All in all a holiday home to be recommended to anyone for families of any age. Our granchildren loved it as did we adults.
