Why James Ludwig chose Irish Channel
This house is in New Orleans' Irish Channel neighborhood. We're right in the heart of Magazine street, with lot's of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shopping nearby. Within a short walk, you can experience two restaurants consistently ranking in New Orleans' top ten - Commander's Palace and Coquette. There's also a Starbucks just a block away, not to mention our favorite deli - Stein's Deli.
What makes this House unique
We're so close to everything and you get the best of all parts of NOLA - Uptown, Garden District, Downtown, and French Quarter. The Garden District and all of its beautiful homes are just on the other side of Magazine Street. St. Charles Avenue, where you can catch the street car, is just 6 blocks away. The French Quarter and Central Business District are in walking distance - about 2.5 miles. The Universities - Loyola and Tulane - are also nearby.

Great location, quiet neighborhood
The Irish Channel property was lovely; but it was very odd for two couples to share this property given that the layout required one couple to walk through the bedroom of the other to get to their bedroom. This should be highlighted in the description of the property, as it could present an awkward situation for others.
The TV didn’t work (satellite connection problem) and because it was a holiday, there was no way to get it fixed. That was very unfortunate. In addition, the fan in the main parlor couldn’t be used because the remote that ran it had been lost and the owners hadn’t gotten that replaced. Also very unfortunate.
Thanks for the feedback, Julie. This property is shotgun style, which is typical for New Orleans. We have updated the description to include this description. Also, DirecTV is coming out tomorrow to fix the TV - apologies for the the issue.
Great home base for NOLA visit
We stayed here for a family visit to NOLA to celebrate Thanksgiving. To accommodate our group, we actually rented two houses - this house (the "little house") and a larger one two blocks away (the "big house"). Though we referred to this one as the little house, it is actually spacious - high ceilings, two nicely-appointed sitting rooms (one with a dining table), kitchen, two good-sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. We cooked a turkey and pie in the kitchen and it worked well. The bedrooms and baths are well-furnished. James the owner lives nearby and was great to work with. The Irish Channel / lower Garden District location is ideal - great for walks in the Garden District and even walks to the Warehouse District, and convenient to Magazine Street shopping and Uptown dining. I agree with the commentator who said the back bedroom could use a better cover over one of the windows to block out the morning sun, but it was not a problem for us in November. Also note that you have to pass through the first bedroom to get to the back bedroom - very common in shotgun houses. All in all, highly recommended!
Very Charming home!! Owner and neighbors great!!
We Had a great experience staying at the charming Irish Channel home!! Easy to get around the city from or just stay on Magazine Street and enjoy the vibe.
Owner James was great and gave us a call before we arrived which really helped with access and getting in the house. James came over introduced himself and welcomed us to New Orleans.
Very nice neighbors just next door!
Before we came we inquired to James about dog care at a kennel. He recommended Bow Wow camp just 4 blocks away!! What a great place for the dogs and us to know they were safe!!! Thank you so much! All in All a wonderful stay and experience. We will return!! Julie
Loved location. Loved Neighbors.
The shower in Master Bath absolutely needs to be fixed because door could not be closed. The sunlight in Master bedroom was too bright...in the morning. However.....More light would be great throughout the rest of the house and a place to put luggage. More Lamps would be great!!! One TV was inadequate. Please, Get a new bundgy cord on front gate. Nice owners, safe area, great location. I’m sure that that the nice owners will make this place perfect.
Lovely time
We all loved being in the Irish Channel. I have never stayed in that area before and found it to be charming. All four of us definitely want to come back.
Very nice
We would stay again. Very clean. As described, no surprises.
