About Amy Valenzuela
Professional female from the Washington DC area -currently living in Berlin Germany. International traveler.. Loves gourmet cooking. Very personable and easy going... I've been an avid user of VRBO during my world travels and can wholeheartedly say I have had wonderful experiences during my stays. I decided recently to open up my home to try my hand at hosting :)
Why Amy Valenzuela chose Fairfax
This property is not a mere investment property- it is my own personal residence that I am offering as a rental while I am working in Germany. As such, my home is furnished with lots of TLC, artifacts and artwork from my global travels. I am looking for travellers who will treat my home respectfully and enjoy the cozy home environment I created. My aim is to establish a personal relationship among my guests and provide personal communication and guidance during their stay.
What makes this Townhome unique

Convenient location, great home-base for exploring the DC area.
This is a clean, well appointed home in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Perfect for a small family or group of friends to use as a home-base for visiting the Washington DC area. Close to Dulles airport and the DC Metro system, and just a 45 minute train ride to the Capitol Mall, Smithsonian museums, Arlington and other area attractions. Plenty of shopping, dining and services nearby. Amy is an attentive and gracious host, well prepared to see to your needs.
It was a pleasure hosting you and your guests during your recent vacation in the Washington DC area. Thank you for the nice review!
Very nice home
The location and neighbor environments are very good. The service is excellent.
Fairfax Townhome, working Vacation
The location of the Townhome worked very well for my business trip, I spend enough time in hotels and to try and stay somewhere different when I can. With my wife, Brother and Sister In-law joining me with their 24 year old son the location worked great.
The unit was furnished and had all the amenities required making some meals and using the outside gas grill.
The only negative comment is that the home is too much like a home, lots of personal items from clothes to family pictures, dog toys in a basket, unopened mail, closets full of stuff, shoes, drawers full clothes to pots and pans on the Kitchen floor.
I've stayed in VRBO properties before but I never felt like someone just moved out the week before and thought I'll make a little extra money and list my home on VRBO.
Over all our experience was positive I would however recommend taking most of the personal items out of the home.
In my property/owner profile - I clearly state that this is my personal home I am renting while Im in Germany and not an investment property; and as such, it is furnished accordingly.
There was one small armoire in the guest room that contained some clothing and shoes (which will be removed). All bedroom closets are empty that I know of except the hallway linen closet which has extra towels and paper products. I was closely in touch with Grant D during their stay and he made no mention of any housekeeping issues upon his arrival when I specifically asked him.
I have rented my property for the last four years on Airbnb - where I am proud of my super-hostess gold status and I have only received glowing reviews from my other guests.
My other concern about Grant D. is that his review stated five people stayed in the property- He only paid for 4 people. I tried to reach out to him after this disclosure on his review to seek financial reimbursement for the extra guest, but he chose not to rectify this matter. As such, I would hope future readers of Grant D's review factor this into the credibility of his observations.
Great place for a family or couple if you want a short drive into DC but also want get away from the hustle and bustle. A nice alternative to cramped hotel rooms. Well-equipped Kitchen, large deck with a barbeque and media room downstairs with a large flat screen TV. Upgraded bathrooms, including a spay shower in the master suite. Quick drive to Virginia's wine country. I stayed there will looking for an apartment during a recent relocation.
Cozy and beautiful home in exceptionally nice neighbourhood
My husband, daughter and I staid at Amy's house close to Wahington, D.C. during my husband's business trip. The house was perfect for us, it is very spacious and well kept. The kitchen has all the supplies that you can think of and the porch is large and has a gas barbecue and smoker (which we unfortunately couldn't use due to the weather). I particularly liked the bottom floor with chimney and probably the largest flatscreen tv that I have ever seen (including netflix access). The master bathroom has a fantastic steam sauna, just to mention a few of the luxurious treets that Amy's home has to offer.
The neighbourhood is very nice, family-friendly athmosphere with some children around, yet it is very quiet. The house is located tight next to a little stream in the woods, perfect for a little walk in the morning or the afternoons. Overall, we can truly recommend Amy's house and would definitely choose to stay there the next time we visit Washington.
It was a real treat to host you, Sascha and your daughter Marlene. Thanks for taking good care of my place for two months during Sascha's business assignment. You're welcome back to stay again next time you're in the DC area :)
