“The next morning, about 15 miles down the coast, I find my Shangri-La, the place I could recommend without reservation or caveat. I almost miss it as I vacillate about whether to follow a dirt road because of a sign that simply states Playa Las Tortugas.” The Washington Post.

We had a wonderful two weeks at Villa las Mananitas! All of the staff was very helpful and we look forward to a return visit.
My family just returned from Playa Las Tortugas, and our 7 night stay at Villa Mananitas. We had an absolutely spectacular time, from the 100 ft walk to the beach, to the warm Pacific waters, to the gorgeous villa, to the stunning pool, it was all perfect. The staff (with a special "thank you" to Pascual and Chela) was there for our every need. We had 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts cooked for us and they were all delicious. The landscaping was flawless, and our gardener tended to the pool and grounds every morning. You could never leave the villa and have the time of your life, but the beach is fantastic. We had a great time doing the following- wading across to have lunch at Platanitos, a half-day of fishing out of Platanitos, an afternoon kayak session in the estuary, and a 2 hr horseback ride along the empty beach. We will be back. One note- the 3rd bedroom is separate from the main house, so not ideally suited for a young child to sleep in alone. But nicely appointed with a private restroom and shower.
soon as we opened the doors to villa las mananitas... I felt at home..... couldn't wait to explore the whole house and the beautiful landscaped yard and pool areas... I was not disappointed...!! my bedroom was like a showcase... waking in the morning... again opening my doors to the balcony... where I could view the ocean and watch the birds... and enjoy my coffee .... from there to the beach for a long walk... to the pool for a quick swim.. to dinner and the hot tub and a glass of wine... MAGICAL....
staffing was wonderful... from the meals.. to cleaning...etc... they were always available
if you want to relax ...need some quiet time... with all the comforts of home and more... I highly recommend...
We were so excited to get to playa las Tortugas and las Mananitas, yet were not sure what we would find. Well, paradise awaited us. For 5 days my wife and I enjoyed the solitude, the comforts of the home, the incredible pool, the ocean and our long walks on the beach. There were a few other families at the community, all doing there own thing. Highly recommended for a off the beaten track vacation. Thanks, we will be back.
My family and I stayed at Las Mananitas a little over a week ago. We miss it already! It is very spacious, well equipped with everything you would need, and perfect for entertaining. There are so many different places to enjoy a meal or evening cocktails, from the veranda to the wet bar area and also upstairs on the rooftop. Even with 7 of us staying there, it was still possible to find a private retreat at Mananitas. The private pool and jacuzzi were a real treat.
Playa las Tortugas is such a quiet and beautiful place. We felt like we were in our own little paradise.
We walked the beach every day, swam in the ocean and estuary, and even released some baby turtles. The staff was fantastic and took good care of us. This is our family's new favorite vacation spot! Playa las Tortugas is a perfect place to relax and unwind. We can't wait to return!
We had a really, really good experience at Playa Las Tortugas. The house was gorgeous, the staff were super helpful, the location is a dream, and we will definitely be booking here again. From the time we booked until we left everyone answered questions and helped us make our vacation perfect. We were travelling with 2 infants and a toddler, and they provided a play pen and high chair. The beach is secluded, as is the house. Playa Las Tortugas is perfect if you want to relax, though there are some nice towns nearby, there is so much to do right at the house there is no need to leave. The only warning I will give is to bring bug repelent. The noseeums were in full force during our stay (March), and their little bites left us all itchy.
My girlfriend and I stayed at this amazing home for a week and both say that is by far the best vacation we have had in 5 years together. Being on a relatively private stretch of beach 5 miles long, you can feel very much alone in this place, but the service from the staff reminds you that these are very much 5 star accommodations. Because this home has it's own private pool, we never ventured to the community pool, but understand that during the winter there are regular afternoon gatherings.
The Groundskeeper arrived each morning to tend to the pool, the patios, and the garden, keeping everything outside pristine, and even brought fresh coconuts for us upon request. the housekeeper not only provides daily cleaning service, but also the meals if you request them, and I suggest you do. Her chile rellanos are spectacular!
The ocean is warm and clear and although the waves were small, I even got a couple of surf sessions in. The nearest Village is Platinitos, just around the point and is accessible by car (the longest route) by Kayak, or by swimming across the estuary (easy, two minutes) and walking up the road on the other side. there are plenty of little restaurants on the beach and vendors for souvenirs. I suggest bringing a dry bag for the trip to keep anything dry that you will need. San Blas is a great town for shooping and exploring life in Mexico outside the hustle and bustle of busy Vallarta. It's about a one hour trip North.
We are home 2 days and already talking about going back, maybe even bringing friends... Maybe!
Boogie Boarding, Canoeing, Whale Watching, Bird Watching, Walking and Running on over 5 miles of sand beach, Deep Sea Fishing, Sea Turtle Conservation activities, Children's Pool, Excursions to waterfall and other sights, Wave-surfing in the kayaks or on boogie boards, Canoeing in the calm waters of the estuary, Surfing or Surf-fishing in front of the property, Enjoying a boat ride for Coastal Sightseeing, Ocean Fishing trips, Horseback Riding down several miles of the beach, Bird watching in our 1100 acres of tidal mangrove estuary; The El Cora Waterfall is found just outside the small mountain village of El Cora where you'll discover several beautiful waterfalls...the highest is over 100 feet and has a wonderful pool at the bottom of it, The closest golf courses are at Tepic (about 1 hour 15 minutes) where you can play all day for about $50 USD while your family enjoys the swimming pools and tennis courts.
