Luxurious, Private Beachfront Residence at Playa Las Tortugas

Bedrooms 3
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Villa, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

'Villa Las Mañanitas at Playa Las Tortugas is your quiet oasis on miles of palm-lined sea turtle nesting beach north of Puerto Vallarta. It is one of 12 unique residences for rent at Playa las Tortugas.

“The next morning, about 15 miles down the coast, I find my Shangri-La, the place I could recommend without reservation or caveat. I almost miss it as I vacillate about whether to follow a dirt road because of a sign that simply states Playa Las Tortugas.” The Washington Post.

Take a stroll on the pristine sandy beach that goes on as far as the eye can see.

Experience indescribable sunsets and watch a formation of pelicans fly just over the wave tops, or see whales breach and dolphins play practically in your vast front yard.

Paddle by canoe or kayak through the tidal mangrove estuary to see multitudes of tropical birds endemic to this beautiful state.

Have a relaxing and intense massage under the palapa by our talented massage therapist. Take in the aroma of blooming plumeria and just....relax.

Make yourself at home in the gourmet kitchen and prepare fresh fish for dinner purchased from the fisherman on the beach. You might also canoe to Platanitos for sarandeado style barbecued fish, or fresh shrimp cooked over a mesquite grill. Even better, enjoy a traditional meal prepared by our wonderful cook.

Our villa features three large bedrooms. Each bedroom has super quiet air conditioning, tv with dvd player and extensive library of books and dvds. The master patio has a magnificent view overlooking the ocean and yard filled with tropical plants. The third bedroom is attached to the house, but with a private entrance and ensuite bathroom with tub and shower. Relax with a wonderful candlelight bubble bath. The surf and stars will lull you to sleep each night.

Our living area is furnished in tropical furniture with eclectic art work from all over the world that enhances the feeling of peace and tranquility at our villa. The dining area is outside on the terrace overlooking the pool and the ocean. The gourmet kitchen features a dishwasher, side by side refrigerator with icemaker and numerous small appliances.

Our pool area features a fountain and casita bar complete with sink and refrigerator, including glassware and dishes for entertaining. View the Pacific Ocean from the infinity edge of the pool while surrounded by palms and lush tropical vegetation. You may want to have a soak in the hot tub while watching the sunset.

Enjoy the magic of our corner of the world. Mi casa es tu casa!

The entire state of Nayarit area enjoys one of the most favorable climates in the world. Average daily year-round temperatures range from highs of 80-85 degrees (perfect beach weather) to lows of 60-70 degrees (perfect sleeping weather). Swim year round, but consider packing a light sweater for the evenings in the winter months. Rain, when it falls, generally occurs between June and September as night-time or pre-dawn thundershowers.

You can visit small typical Mexican villages, enjoy fresh fish and other local seafood at small rustic beachfront restaurants, tour a tropical river and waterfalls, see historic San Blas, and drive up through the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains to colonial Tepic where crafts of the Huichol Indians are found.

Playa Las Tortugas has kilometers of uncrowded, clean sand beach, and a number of activities both on property and nearby such as Surfing, Wave Kayaking, Boogie Boarding, Fishing, and Shelling, Canoeing, Whale Watching, Bird Watching, Walking or Running on Miles of Sand Beach, and Sea Turtle Conservation activities (during season) at the Sea Turtle Conservation Camp. Frequently there is one festival or another in small towns within an hour of our location. There are a number of excursions you might take, with or without a guide.

Playa Las Tortugas is located on a section of coastline which is nesting habitat of several species of sea turtle in the beautiful state of Nayarit, Mexico 70 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta (PVR) International Airport and about 50 miles west of Tepic, the colonial capital of Nayarit.

We are happy to arrange transportation for you in our private shuttle, you may rent a car and drive your self which a large number of our guests do, or if you'd like to be more adventurous you may decide to come by bus and local taxi. We can send you details on the numerous car rental companies, or instructions on which buses and local taxis to take. It's quite easy to find your way from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport to Playa Las Tortugas, and the roads are normally well-maintained. Your valid driver's license is accepted in Mexico, and the driving rules are virtually the same as most countries. Write us for a copy of detailed driving instructions and a map. Your scenic drive north from the airport takes less than 2 hours and goes through areas of old-growth jungle and coastal hills.

Your vacation place in the sun on miles of tropical beach awaits!'

Guestbook comments from the manager

Four friends and I just came back from staying at Villa Las Mananitas. It was an amazing vacation. The house is located at the edge of the property leaving it quiet and isolated. The completely empty beach stretches for miles and miles (we walked for an hour and still couldn't see the end). The waves were fun to play in with only a light/moderate undertoe (don't recommend going out past 200 metres).

Food was excellent and our housekeeper/cook Mariam was polite and friendly (and tolerated our horrible Spanglish with a smile). She cooked unique meals for us including preparing fish from our coastal fishing excursion. On the excursion side we did the coastal fishing, whale watching, horseback riding and kayaking up the river. All were excellent and very reasonably priced. Getting around without your own car can be a bit expensive, but there's enough to do at the resort to entertain a group of people for a week.

House is nicely furnished both inside and out with plenty of places to take your meals or just lounge on your own away from others. Third bedroom is small and shower pressure was weak, but first two bedrooms are stunning with beautiful views of the ocean. Being so close to the water and having the beautiful pool definitely make this one of the nicest properties at the resort. Mosquitos aren't bad, but look for a spray that offers protection from no-see-ums ... something with DEET.

They are only out in evening, but can be annoying.

All in all, you will likely not find this kind of luxury at this price point and we are already planning on coming back next year.

Thanks so much! And a really huge thank you to everything you did. Everyone loved their stay at Playa Las Tortugas and some of us are already planning on coming back next year. It was such a peaceful relaxing trip and even with the few hiccups we found all the staff amazing.

A week of paradise at Villa las Mañanitas on Playa las Tortugas!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a drive to your own private paradise, plan your stay at Villa las Mañanitas! You will NOT be disappointed. My husband and I spent a week there with our 2 teenage daughters. We loved it! The girls each had their own bedroom & bathroom, although the preferred showers were those in the main house. The house is decorated with museum quality art, yet not too fancy to be at the beach. There are many wonderful eating, napping, reading areas. Having our own pool was THE BEST! We actually never swam in either of the community pools. As we walked through the complex, we realized how lucky we were to be in a beachfront villa. We easily split our days between the pool and beach. Riding the waves on boogie boards was fun, although the owner should really invest in new boards. I ran on the beach every morning, and captured amazing sunset photos every night. At very low tide, we explored the other side of the estuary. Among other critters, it was exciting to discover 2 small octopuses (octopi)! As for staff, Jose was wonderful. He carried kayaks to the estuary so we could paddle back and see birds feeding at low tide, talked to the turtle camp staff and let us know when we could participate in a turtle release, arranged to have a caballero meet us on the beach for an evening horseback ride, and set up wood so we could light a bonfire on the beach (marshmallows and roasting sticks, too!). Miriam, our maid, cooked wonderful meals for us on 3 days. We only left Playa las Tortugas for one day, and that was for our very educational and interesting visit with Daniel and his wife at the Capulin Coffee Project. We rented our CRV from Gecko Rentals in Bucerias. They were incredible to deal with! Highly recommend! The drive itself is a wonderful adventure through the mountainous, rural area, rich with agriculture... pineapples, mangoes, bananas, jack fruit, watermelons, nuts, dairies, coconuts, coffee, papaya and more. We did our grocery shopping in Bucerias. I had packed a couple of insulated carrying bags to keep certain items cold on the long drive to Playa las Tortugas. Oh, oh, oh! How could I forget to mention the amazing gardens surrounding the villa! Such a beautiful variety of well established plants! Butterflies and hummingbirds liked the gardens, too! (As did the no see-ums & mosquitos. Even with bug spray, we all got bit. Souvenirs to bring home!) My family loved the private villa and beach. We hope to return!

We loved our vacation at Playa Las Tortugas. It was perfect for our family. Our group included me, my husband, our daughters, 10 and 12, and my mother in law and her husband, in their upper 80s. The set up was perfect for all of us to enjoy a vacation together. The kids swam in the pool and played on the beach, the grown ups swam and walked on the beach and the senior citizens enjoyed bird watching, sitting on the beach and sitting on the terrace. One of the king bedrooms, was on the same level as a bathroom, kitchen and terrace making things very comfortable for the 88 year olds.

We elected to have Miriam prepare breakfast and dinner daily and we are so glad we did! Everything she prepared was delicious and our kids even ate and loved foods they have never tried.

Releasing baby sea turtles was definitely a high point for all of us. We also had a really good time going fishing and whale watching out of Platanitos with Mario. We saw several whales! Mostly we just enjoyed the warm, sunny weather, the secluded beach and the warm ocean. There's lots to do without going very far -- boogie boarding, surfing, swimming, walking along the beach, playing on the beach, beach volleyball...

It's true that it's a ways from Puerto Vallarta, but that's what we were looking for. We didn't want to be in the hustle and bustle of a resort town. We wanted to feel like we were in Mexico and to be able to enjoy the beach and surroundings. That's just what we got!

The house itself is beautiful with Mexican decor, a fantastic pool and beautiful gardens. The living room and two master bedrooms have nice indoor outdoor connection.

Villa Mananitas- Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned from Playa Las Tortugas, and our 7 night stay at Villa Mananitas. We had an absolutely spectacular time, from the 100 ft walk to the beach, to the warm Pacific waters, to the gorgeous villa, to the stunning pool, it was all perfect. The staff (with a special "thank you" to Pascual and Chela) was there for our every need. We had 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts cooked for us and they were all delicious. The landscaping was flawless, and our gardener tended to the pool and grounds every morning. You could never leave the villa and have the time of your life, but the beach is fantastic. We had a great time doing the following- wading across to have lunch at Platanitos, a half-day of fishing out of Platanitos, an afternoon kayak session in the estuary, and a 2 hr horseback ride along the empty beach. We will be back. One note- the 3rd bedroom is separate from the main house, so not ideally suited for a young child to sleep in alone. But nicely appointed with a private restroom and shower.

life is good

We were so excited to get to playa las Tortugas and las Mananitas, yet were not sure what we would find. Well, paradise awaited us. For 5 days my wife and I enjoyed the solitude, the comforts of the home, the incredible pool, the ocean and our long walks on the beach. There were a few other families at the community, all doing there own thing. Highly recommended for a off the beaten track vacation. Thanks, we will be back.

Just Paradise! Our family's new favorite vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Las Mananitas a little over a week ago. We miss it already! It is very spacious, well equipped with everything you would need, and perfect for entertaining. There are so many different places to enjoy a meal or evening cocktails, from the veranda to the wet bar area and also upstairs on the rooftop. Even with 7 of us staying there, it was still possible to find a private retreat at Mananitas. The private pool and jacuzzi were a real treat.

Playa las Tortugas is such a quiet and beautiful place. We felt like we were in our own little paradise.

We walked the beach every day, swam in the ocean and estuary, and even released some baby turtles. The staff was fantastic and took good care of us. This is our family's new favorite vacation spot! Playa las Tortugas is a perfect place to relax and unwind. We can't wait to return!
