Overview

About the property

This unique, characterful property has been thoughtfully designed to make the best use of space available and is Grade 2 listed. It lies in a picturesque setting and results in a charming cottage with a wealth of interesting and original features – panelled wood doors and wardrobe and Stuart beams. The holiday home boasts a reading/dressing room, a log burner, beautifully dressed windows with stylish fabrics and accessories. Original Lakeland slate flooring and exposed oak beams, with contemporary oak flooring upstairs. The view of local fells can be seen from the southern kitchen and bedroom windows, tempting for walkers. Guests can simply park up for the week and enjoy the lakes on foot. The cottage has walks straight from the door, along with breathtaking lake and mountain scenery. This cosy village cottage is designed for two. Note: No children allowed, including infants or smoking, but dogs may be considered. Shop (Spar), ATM, garage and gastro pub 50 metres away.

The cottage was built by 1690 and was originally part of the Coaching House, now Traditional Grade II Listed, and stables on the main Windermere route.

Outstanding, circular walk from the cottage to Troutbeck; after a visit to the National Trust Townend Hall, have a drink at The Mortal Man then follow old tracks and footpaths up to the top of Wansfell, for outstanding views over Windermere and Ambleside.

Cute little cottage

  • 4 of 5

Rosebud cottage is very cute and had been decorated with much love and thought.

We found it to be rather cold, but managed to keep the log burner going.

It is perfect for a base to discover the lakes.

We visited Pedro’s a couple of times and we canno praise it enough, great food and drinks and very friendly staff who made us feels extremely welcome.

Great, cozy cottage. It was the perfect base for our trip.

The kitchen was well equipped, with everything we needed. The cottage was in a brilliant location - great walks on your doorstep to Troutbeck/Townend and easy walk into Windermere for pubs. Enough space for the two if us and our big labrador. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely short break at Lorraine and Chris's cottage. The cottage was well equipped, clean and tidy, good instructions provided. It was in a nice quiet location with plenty of great walks on the doorstep. Very easy to walk down to Windermere.

The shower went cold pretty quick the first time I used it even though we had only used the hot water for dishes bit this was easily resolved by putting the hot water on for extra time and it heated up quickly. Unfortunately we were unable to use the log burner as the wood provided was wet. We did try to by more wood but we couldn't find anywhere selling dry wood as it was raining heavily and the shops we found had the wood stored outside. The cottage was certainly warm enough with the heating on but it would have been nice to use the fire.

We would definitely stay again and would recommend.

Quaint little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Conveniently situated little cottage, beautifully renovated with good facilities. Was very cold weather so we certainly needed to use the wood burner to keep us cosy. Good walks from the cottage onto the fells.

Lovely Stay for Short Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quaint little cottage, which was in a ideal location for a few frosty walks and for visiting some of the local villages. The cottage had everything we needed, albeit a little chilly due to the winter weather, and Lorraine were very helpful in providing us with all the information we needed. All in all we had a lovely time, thank you so much x
