This is a great location, but the apartment is small. The only thing was we couldn’t find the remotes for the air conditioners. We searched all over, but finally found them. The apartment was very clean with ample towels and linens. It’s centrally located and walking distance from everything. The palace was about a 15 minute walk, the Grand Via was about a 5 minute walk. There are a few parking lots in the area and street parking if you can find it.
Terrible property owner.
We didnt have hot water first 2 nights. Fixed then broken again 2nd night. Thought I had reserved for 4 people & would not have a problem paying $80 had we been able to shower for 2 days! Landlord has now kept our deposit & claimed WE broke the shower door that was already broken when we tried to shower. He’s completely unreasonable & hard to communicate with. VRBO has multiple case # records on my calls. Let me know if case #s are needed.
Brilliantly located apartment in Madrid City Cetre
The apartment is really well located to visit all the sights of Madrid and a few minutes away from Tribunal metro which easily takes you to the airport. You are able to walk to everything within 20 to 30 minutes. The apartment has a large double bedroom, with a spacious bathroom and adequate living room and kitchen. Second bedroom is quite small and probably best for a child.
The owner is so nice, I'd like to be able to write a good review.
Ivan is a very kind owner. He was super gracious when I arrived very late for check in (two delayed flights), and my cell was not working to let him know (problem corrected by Orange in Madrid). He was patient through the check in process and made sure we had everything we needed before he left.
Because he was so kind, it is unpleasant for me to have to give the apartment a tough review.
Although it is true that the location is convenient to many sites, the neighborhood is not for everyone. We could not sleep because of all of the extremely loud and possibly intoxicated people standing directly below the window, in the street, talking and singing all night through to 7:00am. We are big city people. This was not normal city noise.
The building is dated and needs refurbishment. It was dark, damp and the entrance/stairs actually felt "creepy." The tenants should insist on improving this entrance.
The apartment itself has cosmetic improvements. It is very small- particularly the common spaces- although it has two bedrooms (1 queen, 1 twin). I would say max 3 persons.
There was a strong unpleasant odor that mixed with the smell of cleaning supplies too, so that we had to keep the windows open in spite of the noise. There were loud partying sounds coming from inside the building too throughout the night.
The apartment needs a deep, thorough cleaning (including professional extermination services), a new mattress/pillows/etc., and should only be marketed to travelers who want to be up all night partying. I cannot recommend it to anyone else.
Again, the owner is a super nice guy and the location is convenient. With the above improvements, this property has potential for the right demographic.
Ivan is a fabulous host. I had a minor issue (of my own doing) and he was there promptly to resolve it. The apartment is fully equipped to provide you with the experience of actually living in Madrid. It’s close to a number of restaurants & places to grab a drink. Also steps away from buses and the metro. One way that I look at places that I stay at is I ask myself a question-“Could I live here for at least a year?” Unequivocally I could live here!!! Again a big thanks to Ivan, what a great host. My thanks for making my trip pleasurable 👍👍👍
It’s smaller than it looks in the photos. Great air con and location. Nice bathroom. The washer was not working when we were there. The host, Ivan was excellent. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy.
