Built in 1982, this property is set in a tranquil Dordogne village, six miles from the Dordogne River at Domme and twelve miles south of Sarlat. It is located within very easy driving distance of the many attractions that the Dordogne offers. It has a heated 50 square metre Roman-style swimming pool with an electric cover for security. The house stands in extensive grounds on the edge of the village which has a Boulangerie with range of general products, and an excellent restaurant. This five bedroomed house is accessed by six very wide steps onto an extensive sun-trap terrace.
The owners live on site in totally separate accommodation with their own driveway and gardens.
Le Coze is situated in a quiet lane about 10 minutes walk from the lovely village of St Martial de Nabirat. The views from the pool are beautiful and the gardens extensive. We found the property clean, the kitchen well equipped and there was plenty of space for the 7 of us (2 families). The terraced area shown on the photos is lovely for enjoying meals and BBQs outside and now has an electric awning to supplement the umbrella. The house is well placed for visiting some of the main attractions of the Dordogne area; Domme, Castelnaud, La Roque Gageac, Beynac and Sarlat. The highlights of our holiday including canoeing from Carsac to St Vincent de Cosse, cycling from Castelnaud to Daglan (there is a cycle hire place in Castelnaud) and visiting the Jardins de Marqueyssac by candlelight. It is a 15-20 minute drive to Gourdon which is worth a visit and in addition has a choice of at least 3 supermarkets; we found it less busy than shopping in Cenac or Sarlat. We would not hesitate to recommend this property.
Le Coze lies in the southern Perigord Noir an area famous for its foie gras, strawberries and walnuts which can be sampled in the wonderful local restaurants. Magestic medieval towns and spectacular caves are found nearby, along with the delightful River Dordogne. There are numerous historic and geographical sites, including Lascaux, Rocamadour, Padirac, La Roque Gageac, Sarlat and Domme that must be visited from Le Coze, as are the fascinating towns of Bergerac, Cahors and Figeac.
