Mulberry Mansion is a traditional 18th century house situated in the heart of Makrinitsa: one of Mount Pelion’s most charming and magnificently preserved villages. The building itself is of great historic importance and has features of exceptional beauty, as evidenced by the Greek Ministry of Culture, which gave the building protected status and designated it officially as a work of art. Mulberry Mansion also boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountain landscape as well as the Pagasetic Gulf, the islands of Evia and Trikeri, and the nearby city of Volos whose glittering city lights make for a spectacular view at night time.
Guests enter Mulberry Mansion through a cobbled path (kalderimi) leading to the slate patio and the ground floor of the mansion, which is surrounded by fruit trees, flowers, and the soothing sound of nearby water fountains burbling in the background. On entering the ground floor the guests find themselves in a stone-built interior with a seating area/dining room, two bedrooms, a large bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a store room. Both rooms have central heating units, traditional decorative fireplaces, wardrobes, and semi-double beds/divans which are ideal for sleeping or simply relaxing in the company of friends and family. The first room has two semi-double beds at each side of the decorative fireplace and the second room has only one.
The kitchen offers all the modern conveniences such as a large refrigerator/freezer, a kitchen sink, a stove, silverware, dishware, cookware, basic cooking utensils, and a dish washer. The bathroom is also filled with all the necessary amenities such as a porcelain bathtub with a shower set attached, a dressing table with a large mirror, a wash basin, a toilet and a washing machine. Both the kitchen and the bathroom are centrally heated.
Important note: All fireplaces are decorative and do not operate.
Much like the surrounding area, Mulberry Mansion is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday with friends and family or for a romantic retreat. Given the spaciousness of the house, it can cater for both privacy and sociability as suited to your needs. Combining traditional architecture with modern facilities and impressive views, Mulberry Mansion offers the unique experience of staying in one of Mount Pelion’s most carefully preserved traditional mansions, while you explore the beautiful countryside and local colour. Mulberry Mansion is after all conveniently close to all local amenities, and has easy access to the road network that connects Makrinitsa with neighbouring villages, Aegean/Pagasetic Gulf beaches, and the port of Volos where you can catch ferries to nearby islands such as Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonisos.
