Dar Zette is a beautiful & tranquil house hidden away in the heart of the 18th century medina. Recently restored to combine modern comforts with Moroccan tradition, it has the added advantage of a large pretty courtyard complete with fountain. Perfectly situated for the bustling souks selling spices, carpets, jewelled slippers & Thuya wood boxes with cafes and restaurants nearby and the wide sandy beach of Essaouira only a minute away.
Surrounding the open courtyard on two sides, the house offers light and peace. The wide folding doors of the salon allow the ground floor rooms and courtyard to become as one – wonderful by candlelight in the evening. Built on 4 floors, the house allows much privacy for reading and sunbathing. Kilim covered armchairs, hand-painted furniture, old chandeliers and antique rugs throughout, Dar Zette has it all.
We had a really lovely time. The house is beautiful - we all wanted to stay for longer! The way you have decorated it is gorgeous we loved all the rugs and things - particularly the big buddha lamp. We also loved Essaouira. The weather wasn't great while we were there but we found cosy bolt holes to drink mint tea in etc. we loved Taros and found a really lovely restaurant called 'la cle de voute' where the staff were exceptionally accommodating and warm - when we arrived both our little girls were taken in for a kitchen tour and as we left were both given the hugest hugs. The food was good and the general atmosphere was really cosy and friendly.
We would love to come again some time.
We were a three generation family group aged 4 to 70. This riad met our needs perfectly as there were plenty of bathrooms and separate terraced sitting room area outside the various sleeping areas. The riad has been tastefully furnished and decorated and had a lovely atmosphere. The roof terrace was fabulous with plenty of comfy loungers for everyone. Rachid the manager and Saadia, the cook housekeeper looked after us very well, with Saadia cooking a lovely pancake breakfast for us every morning for a very reasonable price. The location of the riad was very convenient and much easier to find than others we had stayed in.
The house was exactly as the description and pictures provided. It was very spacious and had everything that we required. The location was perfect as we were not toofar from the main square but still very quiet inside the house. Also the house is a 10 minute walk from the beach so we were able to walk down and soak up the sun
The facilities were very good, especially with the number of bedrooms and bathrooms plus the added bonus of a private roof terrace.
The property was very clean and the lady who came to clean was very polite and helpful, as was Rachid the manager who was very helpful and saw that we had everything that we needed.
The owners were very quick to respond and we were very looked after by Rachid.
I would highly recommend this property as essaouira is the perfect place to go and relax and enjoy the beach and sights
all the nearby restaurants served very good food and the pancakes are to die for, it was very easy to obtain halal meat for the family as we cooked some meals while we were there and also very easy to walk down to the market to buy fruit, vegetabes and groceries.
It's also very good for shopping and the prices are reasonable for gifts, definitely buy from here if you re heading to marrakech
all in all we will definitely be back to essaouira and when we do we will book this property again
The property was typical Moroccan, beautifully decorated. Kitchen well equipped and beds comfortable. Lots of places to sit and relax throughout the house. Loved the way you could step out of the house into the busy market streets where you could explore all the little alley ways.
Provision of a safe box in the building would be beneficial to keep valuables in.
This property was perfect for our stay. Everything was so close: the fishing port; a food market; souks full of interesting Moroccan souvenirs and a lovely expansive beach. The property was beautifully decorated and, included a roof terrace. We will return.
We enjoyed our stay very much and like to come back soon again. Dar Zette is a quiet and comfortable refugium in the midth of Essaouiras`ancient medina with a window to the sky . A lovely place to relax at the top of the house or at the beach as well as a starting point for all the interesting things Maroccans life presents.
Essaouira offers something for everyone. The climate is semi-tropical staying warm and balmy throughout the winter. A UNESCO world heritage listed city, Essaouira has a relaxed laid-back atmosphere where you can enjoy the hubub of the souk, the bustle of the busy port with its fish market, the romance of a walk along the ramparts at sunset or exploring the streets and hidden passageways of this special town.
Other Activities: small traditional port, souks, cooking & eating, hammams, historic sites, bird watching, camel riding, land yatching, kite surfing, 4x4 off roading and quad biking.
