Delightful Colorado vacation home!
We had a marvelous experience in this beautiful home. John and Dondi were gracious hosts who thought of every detail. The house and grounds were spotless (even to my picky standards), the kitchen was very well stocked, the furnishings were comfortable and luxurious, and the location was perfect - far enough away from town to enjoy complete silence, yet only a short drive to restaurants and stores. This home was a wonderful respite after long days of touring and hiking. Our only regret is that we didn't plan to spend more time at the house!
Amazing Family Vacation!
This property was simply amazing! Our family of 4 has vacationed in the Durango for several summers and this home was our favorite! The property is breathtaking! So beautiful, lush and green. So much space for my 9 year old son and 12 year old daughter to run and explore! We especially loved the sound of the water in the creek off the patio. We enjoyed nighttime fires, bbq's, and relaxing in one of the many hammocks on the property and reading a book! We went on walks in the evening and were able to ride our mountain bikes from the property to trails. We even were lucky enough to see some wildlife in the morning and evenings while out and about.
The home was immaculate; very clean and beautifully decorated. It was in the perfect location; a short drive to Durango or to Purgatory. It was all that we could have hoped for and more!
John and Dondi were so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable; from building a fire in the evening, surprising the family with s'mores to make at night, fresh flowers on the table when we arrived, and taking the kids in a quick spin in John's amazing historic cars!
We will definitely be back next summer! Our kids have even made it known this is the house that they want to return to each year. Thanks for sharing your amazing home with us!
John and Dondi have created a perfect paradise. You will not want to leave the patio. From the running brook to the fireplace it is heavenly.
We hope to return many times.

Quiet, beautiful location outside of Durango 20 minutes north. Everything of great quality from laundry and outdoor bbq to kitchen appliances and bed linens (Although I did miss my king size bed). Beautifully remodeled interior of an historic stone house. Large shade trees and running watercourse through the yard. Very friendly and interesting owner and neighbor/manager. Thanks John and Dondi!!
Great place to stay while skiing Purgatory
John is a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a great ski vacation! Thanks you!!
Absolutely incredible setting for relaxation and serenity and quality family time.
I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to have spent New Year’s with my family. We arrived late and were greeted by cheerful Christmas lights and lighted deer throughout the property, and there was even a lit Christmas tree in the living room. The vintage farmhouse was beautifully decorated and furnished, and everyone relaxed in total comfort while playing games and doing puzzles. We woke up to almost a foot of snow the second morning, which made the setting only more perfect. The winter wonderland was so peaceful, and provided a perfect opportunity to snowshoe to the river to watch the train go by while relaxing in the hammock. Yes, they still had a hammock out in the snow! Conveniently located between Durango and the ski resort, this is the ideal spot for winter enthusiasts. I’m already looking forward to yet another visit to this little paradise in the mountains.
We are located in the beautiful Animas Valley between Durango and Purgatory Ski Resort on a premier biking loop. We are fifteen minutes from Durango and twenty minutes from Purgatory. The area offers activities including skiing, hiking, biking, rafting, and jeeping. In Durango, board the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train, a coal fired, steam powered train which winds through the San Juan National Forest to Silverton, Colorado, revealing majestic mountain views experienced by miners, cowboys and settlers of the old west over a century ago. Visit Mesa Verde National Park, about 45 minutes from Durango, and tour the cliff dwellings and archaeological sites of ancestral Puebloans who inhabited the area in 13th century.
