Chez Montrachet is a recently renovated, spacious village house over 100 years old located in the tranquil village of Puligny-Montrachet, where some of the finest white wine in the world is made.
The beautiful transformation has brought modern comfort into this house. The renovation displays beams that came from ship masts, exposed stone walls and the original tommettes (Burgundian tiles) dating back over a century.
The spacious rooftop terrace has a panorama across the village roof tops and also some views of the hillside Puligny vineyards. Alongside the terrace, a fully equipped summer kitchen decorated with original oak beams provides immensely enjoyable and easily managed atmospheric outdoor dining.
The sheer size of the house is evident when you step through the door on the ground floor where the two large rooms of over 40 sqm each are located. The entrance flows into a spacious open dining room and beyond sits a fully equipped, modern kitchen that will excite the most passionate of chefs.
The living room is full of comfortable seating, elegant artwork and is perfectly lit for reading and relaxing. There is even a large wood burner for guests in the ‘off season’ requiring warmth. Modern essentials include satellite TV, a Bose Bluetooth speaker and wifi throughout.
There are two large double bedrooms and one twin all elegantly decorated with en-suite bathrooms.

About Su Bishop
Chez Montrachet is owned by Diane, a Hong Kong based entrepreneur. A frequent traveler to many points of Europe, I decided how sensible it would be to have my own base that would offer me comfort and relaxation in an environment that was the flip side of Hong Kong. My property is managed by Su and David Bishop owners of Location Burgundy, specialists in the management of holiday home rentals in Puligny- Montrachet, Meursault, Cissey, Pommard and Beaune. Su and David have lived year round, in nearby Pommard for more than 15 years and have incomparable knowledge of all the attractions, services and facilities in Beaune and the surrounding wine villages.
Su Bishop purchased this House in 2015
Why Su Bishop chose Puligny-Montrachet
Residing in Hong Kong, I wanted to find a holiday home in Europe that I could use as a base for traveling and exploring. My criteria included easy travel routes from UK where many friends live and work, as well as good road, rail and air connections to other European destinations. Studying the map, it soon became obvious that the area around Beaune was a good place to start my search. I knew a little about Burgundy wine but my first visit made me realize just how very special the wine villages and surrounding vineyards are. It was July. I rented a small house in Puligny Montrachet, cycled through the vineyards and enjoyed the long, summer evenings. Perfect! Puligny Montrachet fulfilled my dream of an ideal French village. This is where I decided I wanted to be.
What makes this House unique
The ‘piece de resistance’ of Chez Montrachet is the magnificent roof top ‘terrasse’, which enjoys views over the village rooftops and up to the Puligny Montrachet vineyards. The terrasse leads out from a fully equipped summer kitchen, all bubbling with original oak beam and lots of character. Outdoor dining could not be made easier or in a more tranquil environment. Chez Montrachet oozes charm and comfort with many of the origins of this stylish 18th century house still on display. Exposed beams, traditional tiled floors, and stone walls are merged tastefully with modern materials and home comforts to achieve an agreeable and restful ambiance. The village of Puligny-Montachet has much to offer all visitors. Within the space of a 5 minute walk you will find a boulangerie for your morning croissants, l’Epicerie for daily groceries, a cool wine bar for aperitifs, a bistrot/café L’Estimanet, and Le Montrachet, an excellent, one star Michelin restaurant.
