The surrounding areas host a wide range of activities from walking among beautiful countryside, historic sites, sampling local cider and delicious food, a trip to the theatre; or more adventurous activities. Hereford is only five miles away with its shops theatres, cinemas, restaurants and beautiful Cathedral.

A five minute walk from your door takes you down through into the beautiful Wye Valley to many footpaths that let you walk by the river for miles, passing secret islands and countryside spots which cry out for a picnic. The Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons, and even the Malvern Hills are lovely hill walking for those who like to get to the top of the world and take in the view and The Orchard is perfectly situated midway between all three.

Canoe hire companies stretch the length of the river Wye and exciting Karting, adventure activity and Pony Trekking venues can be found within striking distance. You have a huge selection of cycling routes taking in the small quiet country lanes you would expect in one of England’s least populated counties. If you like the more rugged and wild off-road cycling experience the Forest of Dean provides those too.

History is all around you here and we have a collection of great historical grand Castles like Croft or Eastnor, windswept ruins like Skenfrith or Painscastle, beautiful religious monuments like Hereford Cathedral or Tintern Abbey.

Herefordshire is a rural county with a great tradition of agriculture, we have a wealth of local produce and specialist food outlets along with restaurants that specialise in providing us with high quality interesting food that’s hard to find anywhere else in the country. There’s food festivals throughout the year, local cider and cheese making tours, giving a great selection of local produce for you to try. We also have a range of restaurants from the friendly local country pub with filling traditional menus to something a bit more adventurous from Michelin starred chefs.

Lovely and well equipped accommodation with beautiful views.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in this very peaceful location. The views are truly amazing and with the warm, sunny aspect it was a joy to sit and just appreciate. The property is well designed, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable. The outside area is spacious and very well kept and we enjoyed the added benefit of walking in the sunny Orchard assessed through the gate from the garden. Suzanne and John were very welcoming hosts and it was lovely to meet them. Our only regret is we wish we could have spent more time here but hope to return for a longer stay next time.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful area.

  • 5 of 5

Arrived to a warm cosy and well appointed property with lovely views across Herefordshire, a tasty welcome pack and milk in fridge was a nice extra, we hadn't expected. Lots of information on things to do and everything you would need on your stay was included by the owners in the beautiful glass fronted oak framed building. Thankyou for a lovely few days away for our anniversary.

Stunning views, peacful

  • 4 of 5

We absolutely adored the orchard. The owners were very helpful and treated us with some really lovely honey and flap jacks.

The cottage itself was amazing. On holiday we rent cottages all over Europe and the orchard was by far our favourite. Not only was it super clean but everything that you needed was there. Top it up with super friendly and helpful hosts and your holiday gets off to a great start. A lot of light, nicely decorated, and again super clean. The cottage had everything we needed, and we enjoyed having a bbq outside as wel as enjoying a night in reading a good book and at the same time enjoying the views. The walk in shower wasn't really our thing as the bathroom was quite wet after showering but it will certainly not keep us from coming back. We look forward to visit again!

Peaceful, scenic base for exploring the surrounding countryside

  • 4 of 5

We were given a warm welcome when we arrived at The Orchard. The owner, Suzanne, had opened the cottage doors as it was hot and provided us with a fan to cool the rooms down. We appreciated the welcome pack of local products and the milk left in the fridge.

Situated in a peaceful, private spot, the cottage has an attractive outlook over the surrounding fields. There is a pleasant sitting out area with barbecue, perfect for when the weather is good.

Inside is immaculate and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped with most things you would need on a self catering break. We liked the walk in shower and found the bed to be comfortable.

We would definitely recommend the property to friends and family, and look forward to our next visit.
