About the property

Characterful, two double bedroom property, just a five minute walk to Blenheim

Make yourself at home in a delightful Grade II Listed cottage, centrally located in historic Woodstock, close to all the amenities of the high street and just a five minute walk to Blenheim Palace.

Completely refurbished throughout 2016, this 18th century property makes a great place to base yourself for exploring Woodstock, Oxford and the surrounding Cotswolds area.

Tastefully decorated and with a homely feel, the cottage offers accommodation for up to four people in two double bedrooms (one king size, one double), where you'll sleep well on good quality Hypnos mattresses and soft white bed linen. Enjoy a soak in a roll top bath in our heritage bathroom. Prepare your meals in a our characterful kitchen and chose to eat in the dining room or 'al fresco' in the quiet courtyard garden, British weather permitting! And for those 'rainy play-days', we offer unlimited high-speed internet throughout your stay.

In terms of parking, 300 years ago when the property was built the word 'car' hadn't been invented. However, there is a public car park less than 90 metres walk away as well as free street parking around the corner.

Going into Oxford? Jump on the S3 bus from the High Street. It takes about 30 minutes.

Arriving from London? The newly opened Oxford Parkway train station is just five miles away, or 10 minutes in a taxi.

About Bowler Hat Letting

Hello, I'm Angie.

After quitting the rat race I wanted to do something totally different.

With my background in building and manufacturing, renovating a property wasn't too out of my comfort zone.

I see the key facts of running a business remain the same: offer a great product, at a competitive price, look after your customers and I find you can't go too wrong.

Running a holiday let is a brand new and exciting experience for me. It's important to me that your stay is as memorable and relaxing as possible. I want you to come again or help to spread the word.

Bowler Hat Letting purchased this house in 2015

Why Bowler Hat Letting chose Woodstock

My husband and I found an unloved property back in 2015 right in the heart of Woodstock and brought it back to life, through blood, sweat & tears. The muscle pain has gone now but I'm still waiting for my nails to grow back!

So why stay here? Well it's a convenient location, has lots of character and I care about you having a great stay.

What makes this house unique

Location, cosy cottage and my commitment to my guests.

Beautiful stay in every way....

  • 5 of 5

We had a very memorable 3 night stay which was perfect from start to finish. We stay in cottages in the Cotswolds several times throughout every year and this was one of our favourite mini breaks.

Angie the owner was incredibly kind, accommodating and helpful throughout the booking process and throughout our stay. She greeted us at the cottage and even gave us the most beautiful anniversary gift. She is passionate about providing the best service and every single detail has been thought about with such care. The cottage was spotlessly clean, luxuriously cosy, homely and beautifully decorated throughout. The quality of the furnishings was incredibly high from the luxurious bedding to the stunning log burner. Angie even provided a highchair for our 2 year old daughter and welcomed her with a balloon.

You really couldn’t ask for a better location with the beauty of Woodstock right on your doorstep. There are some fabulous restaurants and shops. We went to the Christmas light trail at Blenheim Palace which was spectacular. We had snow on our last day to round off a perfect mini break.

In all our cottage stays, I can honestly say that we have never come across anyone who has given such great attentiveness, genuine care and kindness to her guests as Angie. We would like to thank her and look forward to that drink on next stay which we are already planning!

With heartfelt thanks,

Laura, Phil and Amelia x

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Laura for such a glowing review. It really means the world to me to see my guests enjoy themselves. We all live such busy lives and when we treat ourselves to a break , we deserve to feel we're escape reality just for a short time. I put my heart & soul into running this new business and I just treat people the way I'd like to be treated. Look forward to seeing you soon. Take care my friend, Angie xxx

A charming cottage in a beautiful village

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent and relaxing two night stay in this wonderful cottage. Angie made us feel very welcome even before we arrived, arranging an early check-in for us and leaving all the information we needed to explore the local area. Blenheim Palace is literally just around the corner and can be walked to in a few minutes. The village is very quaint and absolutely packed with restaurants and pubs. The cottage itself is very charming and finished to a high level with all mod cons.

Impeccable cottage

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we got there until we left 20days later we loved the cottage.

From the lovely beddings to the cute kitchen and the sitting room ,Angie has made it perfect.

England drinks a lot of tea but I used the French press and made coffee and used the Denby cups that are there. Angie had left bread ,cheese and milk so we did not have to go to the store the next morning.

You will find that the best part of the cottage is the owner Angie, I feel like I have known her a long time .

She called me her Auntie, we’ll rightly so as I am pretty old.

This cottage is like a sparkling gem once you open the blue gray door.

Like it says Charming 18th Century cottage.

Loved it.

Owner's Response: Dearest auntie Birgitta! How very lucky I am to meet such warm & wonderful people such as yourself & Dennis. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay in England & my cottage. I try to make each stay as special as I can. To me, the best part of running a holiday property is looking out for my guests and making sure everything is the best it can be.. (Oh sorry about the weather! :) You were both a pleasure to host. Really hope our paths will cross again. Lots of love & take care, Angie xxxx

Beautifully decorated, well-equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay in Woodstock this week. The cottage was beautiful and furnished to a very high standard. Angie, the owner, has thought of everything and the house is very well equipped. The Crown pub is very close by and we can highly recommend that too! The best bits of the cottage for us were: the log-burning fire and easy to control heating (it was cold this week!), the lovely high-end bathroom, crisp white bed linen and thoughtful touches like chocolate sprinkles and marshmallows for your hot chocolate, as well as the yummy cupcakes! We'll be back :-)

A perfect Woodstock experience!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we decided to book Bowler Hat it was a first class experience. Angie was prompt in her correspondence but also so friendly and helpful. Our trip was to celebrate my husbands 60 th birthday, Angie met us on our arrival with a beautiful birthday cake, a beer and a hand made 60th banner, it made my husbands day!

The cottage is spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, toasty warm and within easy walking distance of everything in Woodstock. The bed was super comfortable with beautiful linen.

Blenheim Palace is an easy, flat walk, we ended up spending two days there visiting, so much history and would recommend the walk around the palace grounds.

Our only disappointment with our stay is that we did not book for a longer period, 3 nights were not enough!

Thank you Angie, you are the perfect host.

This property is a perfect holiday home. The owner shows unique care for each of her guests.

  • 5 of 5

This 300 year old cottage has great character and charm giving you a unique experience of stepping back in time with all the modern amenities. The attention to detail and cleanliness makes your stay very comfortable. The owner, Angie, treats you as her guest and not a customer. She listens to things you mention, and exceeds your expectations going above and beyond. We have rented multiple homes in various countries similar to VRBO/ Home Away contracts loving many. However, this rental has exceeded all others we’ve had in that past with comfort, cleanliness and the feeling of being home.
