About Colin Thompson

Colin is a Man of Kent. he was born in Broad Oak and went to school in Canterbury. He now lives in the English West Midlands with Partner Margaret and their ancient Cocker Spaniel Barney. He is an active member of the Ironbridge Lions club and is involved with local green space organisations including the Friends of Telford Town Park. Why Colin Thompson chose Canterbury

Colin was born in the house which stood on the site of Kath's Cottage and grew up there with his 4 siblings. Their mother, Kathleen, lived in the village until her death in 2014 at the age of 101. Although he now lives in Shropshire, Colin is proud of his Kentish roots and remains very close to the very large family in the Canterbury area. He and Margaret visit very regularly and bought the house to provide a comfortable base for those visits, renaming it, at the suggestion of the family, in honour of their mother.

What makes this house unique

Kath's Cottage is ideally situated for visitors to this fascinating part of South East England. It provides comfortable accommodation in a quiet, village environment with very easy access to the historic city of Canterbury and to the Kent coastal towns including Whitstable, Herne Bay, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Folkestone. London is less than an hour away by fast train from Canterbury and Paris is only two hours by Eurostar from Ashford. But those looking for a quiet country holiday will enjoy great meals at the village pub and will love the walks through apple orchards and ancient woodlands.

Homely, welcoming, very well equipped, clean, tidy, and wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

First impressions of the property were a lovely and tidy frontage - always a good sign. Once inside, a very welcoming and homely cottage. Spacious lounge and dining area, though we spent most of our time in the conservatory. Kitchen very well equipped. Great location for Canterbury and the coast

Overall a wonderful welcoming and more importantly, a homely place to spend a holiday. Hope to return again. THANK YOU

Straight and honest little cottage - big and comfortable enough for 2 adults and 2 pre-teens...

Perfect base for exploring this part of Kent. Well located, equipped, clean and reasonably priced. Small garden is well kept and indoors everything is neat and in good working order. The owner is very helpful and friendly as are the neighbours. There is a garage with a drive at the back, where a car can be safely parked out of the way. The road to the front can get busy during the day, but this is not an issue at night. Already booked for another weekend!

Excellent cottage

  • 4 of 5

This was a very comfortable cottage, well equipped and in a good location. There were some local walks which we enjoyed.

It was great for getting into Canterbury ( recommend the Park & Ride from Sturry ). We were there to play a few rounds of golf and found easy access to Sandwich and North Foreland about 20 minuets away.

An excellent stay and would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to our friends and family
