Remote amd private 5 bedroom 2 bathroom cottage near Beddgelert, Snowdonia.
Some half term and Easter dates STILL AVAILABLE!!! Bwlch y Plwm is a 5 bed cottage situated down a private lane some 300 metres from the nearest tarmac road, and further from civilization. Its situation and the adoption of its original layout make it increasingly unique within the current trend of 'open plan' living . We have refurbished the cottage to include modern facilities, with as little alteration to the features as possible. The 'open plan' living aspect comes into its own outside the house, with the expansive view down the Glaslyn valley, the sheep as your nearest neighbours, and plenty of exciting wildlife and historic artifacts to discover right outside the front (or back) doors. Please note that the privacy that Bwlch y Plwm enjoys, comes with what some may see as 'issues', such as access via a gated track, which needs care to drive along, pitch black skies at night unless you leave the outside light on, and sheep as your neighbours, who may well come in the garden if you leave the gate open! Of course, this is its charm and uniqueness and why you would just love to come and enjoy your Snowdonia holiday here.

Great Holiday Cottage - Beautiful Scenery
We had a fantastic holiday at this wonderful cottage.
The cottage is well furnished and very comfortable - perfect for our large family of 7. The location and the views are amazing. Even the weather was good!
The house is secluded (perhaps half a mile to the nearest neighbour!) but it is within easy reach of lots of interesting places. We enjoyed trips to many of the local towns, the beaches, the mountains, Zip World, the National Slate Museum etc etc. It was also great to spend time relaxing in the cottage and enjoying the beautiful countryside on the doorstep. It is hard to capture this in a photo - but the whole house is surrounded by open countryside and oak woodland. The place is very peaceful and very quiet - any background noise is from sheep grazing and the nearby stream! The nearest road is 200-300 yards away and cannot be seen from the house - at least in the summer (and probably the winter too). It is a quiet country lane with access to the cottage via a gated track.
Despite this seclusion supermarkets (Tesco's, Aldi and Lidl) are all just 10-15 minutes drive away in Porthmadog.
We would also recommend Capel Fron Evangelical Church in Penrhyndeudraeth - opposite the station.
A wonderful holiday that we will not forget in a hurry.
Thanks to Trevor and Sue for a friendly welcome and for your local knowledge (We enjoyed the waterfall swim!).
Thank you Robin and family for your comprehensive review of your stay at Bwlch y Plwm, perhaps we should ask you to write our tour guide!
Sue says thank you for looking after the cottage, and leaving it clean too.!
We hope that your holiday memories will stay with you for a long time.
Trevor, Sue and family, Harlech.
Stunning location , stunning views perfect rural break
house was located at the end of a woodland track . Views across to Porthmadog and the cob.
Good size bedrooms and well appointed kitchen
No problems with the weather but this time of year bring a torch for the person on gate duty and wellies as the ground around the house is wet
Thank you for your review of your holiday at Bwlch y Plwm. We are glad that you enjoyed the open views, and were able to experience the remoteness of the property, including its mid-field setting! I guess we dont think about a torch, as we are so used to coming and going, we know where to stand to do the gates!
Thank you for leaving the house nice and tidy.
Trevor, Sue and family.
What a lovely place in a special location!
Thank you Trevor and Sue - we had such a fabulous week away. The house is lovely, we enjoyed many fires and the house had everything you needed to have a comfortable stay. We particularly enjoyed the games and the milk and the delicious bread left for us (thank you :)) The location is absolutely amazing for exploring Snowdonia, but even just the surrounding area is very special. The views from the house are just exceptional (even in late November :)) Highly recommend and hope to come back for a visit in the future.
Perfect holiday retreat
Lovely welcome from Sue who directed us to the property and told us about the history of the cottage and local area. The cottage is absolutely stunning and sits in the most scenic of locations with unobstructed views of the countryside for miles. The cottage offers wood burners in both the dining are and lounge, 2 shower/toilet/bathrooms, a kitchen with everything you would need, and lovely cosy bedrooms with amazing views to wake up to.
You really are in the middle of nowhere here which is absolutely what we wanted. Would highly recommend to anybody who wants a very reasonably priced, quiet getaway in rural Wales. We had excellent communication with proprietors Trevor and Sue when booking the holiday and we very much look forward to returning again.
A lovely, peaceful place.
Not much to add to the other reviews, other than to say a big thank you to Trevor and Sue for their warm welcome and help. The cottage is lovely, the kitchen is well-equipped and the kids loved scampering around in the open air.
Great place to getaway with family
This was a great base for our visit to Snowdonia with my family from the US and my parents from Cornwall. Wish we could have been there longer to explore around a little more. The rooms were clean and quiet. The kitchen is small but very well equipped and functional. Wifi is basically not functional and very poor phone service too, but that's ok when you want to decompress for a few days.
