Description of the area

The villa is located in the Bisschopsdreef. The drive itself is part of the protection as a monument recognized by heritage flanders since 11-04-2016.

At the entrance of the Bishop's drift (side Polderstraat) leading to the Castle Rooigem there are two welcome linden. It concerns Dutch linden planted around 1823. On both sides of the welcome linden is a closure of natural stone wings connected by chains, one of which is dated 1763.

The drift was built in 1762, forming the access road to the former bishop's former residence (since 1720). The driveway with triple rows of oak trees joined the formal 18th-century garden of the Rooigem castle. The axis of the drift runs directly from the castle to the Belfort and the tower of the now-disappeared bishop church of Sint-Donau.

From the construction in 1762 the drive was used as a public access road. Between 1835 and 1948, the Visart and the Pier of Pierpont were sequentially sequenced according to the then castle inhabitants. From 1948, the dreef gets her original name back. On construction, the driveway was cranked by triple rows of trees, dating from the 17th century drilling boroughs, the outermost rows had to deviate from the deployment since the 1950s.

Comfortable Property ,could use a little more attention.

          Ross & Erma S.

It worked well for our 11 adults and one child. Unique historical furniture was interesting. Kitchen is well stocked and house was clean although the air was not fresh when we arrived. Beds where fine a little firmer then what we are use too though.

We had cars so didn't mind distance to centre of Bruges.

Decor on walls and outdoor maintaince would add value to your experience.

It was good for our large group and we likely would stay again especially if there was wifi available.

Great location, but rental has issues

          Neal K.

The TV didn't work upon arrival, but the owners retrieved a new cable/satellite box to fix. Washer also didn't work. The owner had it fixed (sort of) during our stay. No wifi in house. Overall, this seems like a rental situation that hasn't been quite worked out yet. The location is great. Beautiful neighborhood. But the home had several bedrooms we counted on using locked because the owner said we didn't need them for our number of people. That wasn't specified beforehand and was incredibly odd as we didn't want to double up our kids. There were no written instructions in the house explaining how things work. Also, communication with the owner was spotty, other than requesting our payments. Again, great location and owner was friendly in person, but I would not recommend.

          Ruime en nette villa

          David J.
