With 180º views, you are surrounded by Lisbon's charm from the moment you awake until you fall asleep to the soft glow of the city's twinkling lights.
Casa Villa Serra’s multi-level design provides privacy for couples or extended families traveling together. Despite interior stairs, child safety gates can be provided to make the house suitable for toddlers and young children.
Stretch out or dine on your sunny terrace, wander the medieval lanes, feed the ducks—and the chickens!—at the local park. Enjoy the bustling "Chiado" and frenetic "Bairro Alto" (10-15 minutes walk away) knowing you can leave those areas behind, returning home to sleep in your refreshingly residential neighborhood.
(Our delightfully quiet, hidden lane consists of some of the very few private homes to be found in central Lisbon. The charming, famous neighbors are an added bonus.)
Let us share our love of Lisbon with you. At Casa Villa Serra, the best of Lisbon is at your feet.

About Property Manager
In June 2001, we kissed Seattle good-bye and moved to our family's ancestral Portugal to work with Habitat for Humanity/Portugal. Soon afterward, in an attempt to protect ourselves from the crashing dollar, we diversified into Euro-zone real estate... and we couldn't be more pleased with the result: sharing our love of the Portuguese people and culture with guests from around the world has been a delight. We now have five historically-protected homes in our little medieval neighborhood... right in the middle of town, yet oh-so-quiet and charming! (Just 3 - 8 minutes from Lisbon's main plaza, the Rossio.) Walk everywhere from here; or stay home and relax on your sunny terrace. Many thanks to all our guests for the support and encouragement. We look forward to seeing you again someday soon. Until then, Godspeed.
Property Manager purchased this Villa in 2009
Why Property Manager chose Pena
Our Lisbon homes are located in an historic area, protected by the Portuguese government because of its unique value; the exteriors look just as they did in the 19th century, with even the paint color regulated to ensure authenticity. Most of the buildings in our Historic Preservation neighborhood were built in the 1500-1800s and all our properties retain their old-world flavor. Nowhere in this neighborhood will you find McVillas with plate-glass windows... instead, prepare to step back in time.
What makes this Villa unique
Full of glorious sunlight, with the city of Lisbon at your feet: sweeping views in every room over Lisbon, down to the Tejo River. Close to the center but on a quiet street. Private terrace with gas BBQ, outdoor dining… You'll never want to go home!

Organized and clean
We had a lovely time in Lisboa at this rental. It was easy to contact Austen and she was very accommodating for an early check in. She helped us secure private transportation from the airport. The driver gave us a quick tour of the city and let us out for pictures before taking us to the apartment where Austen was finalizing everything. The apartment was true to description and was very clean. She was very organized and had all amenities and supplies. It is very hilly in Lisboa and the narrow street to the apartment is not bad. Definitely walking shoes. We were worried about my mother but she did very well. Thr apartment is very close to everything! There are two small fruit stands/grocery stores (no meat - just essentials). The Rossio train and metro station are also a very close distance. Maybe 10 min walk including several sets of stairs downhill.
Nice lodging, as advertised!
We really enjoyed our stay in this rental. The owner was responsive and patient with our many questions leading up to the stay. Upon arrival we met Austin at the apartment and she went over the specifics about the rental and even took us on a quick walking tour to orient us to the area. She was willing to answer any questions throughout our stay and we felt very welcome. We had a great stay and would stay here again if in the area.
The apartment was just what we were looking for. Well located, lovely views. We immediately felt at home. Austin was very helpful and her arrival orientation tour made a big difference. Exploring the seven hills of Lisbon on foot provides great exercise and fun stops at the many cafes. A great experience.
The perfect place to stay in Lisbon plus a fantastic view!
We had a great stay in this house but spent most of our time on the porch overlooking parts of Lisbon. Everything was great and clearly Austin has been very thoughtful with the details. She was very responsive and helpful; one of the best managers we've ever dealt with. My wife wants to come back to Lisbon, but I think it's the house that appeals to her as much as the town.
The neighborhood is very close to Libertad and Rossio, and about a 15 minute walk to the water. There's a million restaurants in walking distance. There are a couple of small grocery stores about 2 minutes away, so that was convenient.
The only negative is the house is on top of a hill, but we took the tram most of the time (and a $5 taxi the rest of the time). The tram was very fun, actually. We ended up searching out the others in Lisbon.
Wonderful stay in Lisbon!!
My husband and I spent 5 nights at Casa Villa Serra with our three sons (ages 11, 9, and 6). The apartment really exceeded my expectations. The location is perfect - on a unique, quiet, "village" lane right in the middle of the city. It was a short walk down to the Rossio square and the Baixa district and only a slightly longer walk up to the Bairro Alto/Chiado neighborhoods. The view from the kitchen and rooftop terrace is spectacular. You can see all the way to the river.
Everything in the apartment was clean and in perfect working order. There was a nice laundry room with a washer and dryer. The kitchen was very well-stocked with dishes, utensils, appliances, and Austin had left us some fresh fruit, wine, and cheese when we checked in.
Austin was very helpful and gave us a tour of the neighborhood when we arrived and helped us get our bearings. She also arranged a fabulous "Fado" evening for us, which I would highly recommend.
We were very comfortable and I would have been happy to stay several more weeks. Highly recommended!
Dear Molly, Thank you for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed the apartment and that everything was to your liking. And I'm especially glad you enjoyed the Fado; Diogo enjoys doing the tours, as well. Please come see us again! Best regards, Austin
Fabulous property in central Lisbon
Our family of four with a 3 yr old and 8 month old stayed here in early October and had a wonderful stay. It's in a great location and has fabulous views. The quality of the towels, bedding and pillows was great and made it feel like I was staying at the Four Seasons but with a lot more room and a much better price. Austin was waiting for us when we arrived and gave us a quick walking tour of the neighborhood and pointed out good restaurants and grocery stores in the area. The provided lots of kids stuff- high chair, potable crib, baby bathtub, toys, books, beach towels, baby gates, etc at no additional cost.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat and Austin was extremely helpful and we had no complaints or problems with our stay. It's easy to get to the Metro stations and plenty of restaurants and you definitely get a better feel living like the locals that you wouldn't get staying in a hotel.
Dear Geoffrey, thank you so much for your lovely review! I'm glad you felt so good about your stay with us. Please come see us again, we'd love to have you. Best regards, Austin
