Fantastic gardens and swimming pool
Lovely cottage used as a base to explore the local area on bikes. Excellent location for visiting chateaux in the Loire Valley.
a lovely cottage just outside the commune of Cour-Cheverny
What a lovely stay, and a great base for exploring central Loire valley. We wish we could have stayed a month to enjoy more time on the property. During the day we explored various Chateaux and wineries. In the evenings, sometimes we went to town for dinner but most nights we came back in the early evening for a swim in the heated pool and a simple dinner. We loved the fireplace, the chickens, and the lively dog who came to check on us most days. This is the perfect place for a couple or a couple with 1-2 small children.
Beautiful and peaceful escape
My wife and I stayed here for a week in the middle of September with our 2yr old son. The owners are lovely and speak very good English. They left us to ourselves but were there if we needed anything.
It was a very comfortable and characterful house with a beautiful walled garden on one side and a shared courtyard garden on the other (shared with the owners who live in the main house). We often strolled around the walled garden with a glass of wine in the evenings. We had breakfast and lunch (some days) at the outside dining table - it’s sun catching for the first part of the day and just a peaceful place to sit and clear your mind. There are pigs, which are in a pen close by and kept our son entertained through the day and in the courtyard garden are chickens and rabbits.
The pool (which is heated) is beyond a gate, which is great so our son couldn’t just escape from the cottage and run into it. The pool is located so you can retain privacy from the owners in their garden - just watch out for the fig tree close by as it has wasps and hornets flying around the fallen fruit all day. They didn’t bother us but it is a little unnerving when you have a toddler. There is also plenty of choice of outdoor furniture too; including a hammock.
It can get quite cold at night so there is a fireplace you can use. We didn’t bother but it’s certainly good to know.
The storage in the kitchen and bedrooms is great. There is a bathroom with Jack and Jill doors, which is handy and the house generally is well equipped.
A supermarket is 15mins away, which is also open on Sunday mornings and Blois, Chateau du Chambord and Cheverny are all pretty close by. If you’re interested in visiting Zooparc Beauval, which is very impressive it is a bit of a drive away but well worth the visit - you may want to buy a two-day ticket if you’re staying long enough as it is a huge place to walk around. (In six hours we saw about two thirds of it). Enjoy!
a week away!
We had a lovely time at the cottage, the house is well equipped and it was lovely to be using the fresh vegetables and fruit from the garden. The swimming pool area is lovely and we were able to use it for 2 days in the week. (the weather wasn't great the other days!)
There is lots to see in the area and we would certainly recommend this property for a holiday.
The owners were very welcoming and even gave us a lovely bottle of red wine from their estate!!
Charming rural property with friendly hosts
Beautiful grounds surround this charming and rustic property. The pool was fabulous and we enjoyed the space. We loved the animals and the peace that surrounded us. Quick drive to the local village for bread and meat etc. Large supermarket also available. Close to chateau. A wonderfully relaxing week with friendly owners nearby if needed.
Charming, peaceful French cottage
We stayed here for two weeks with our girls aged 7 and 9. The cottage is delightful and they loved the garden, which is vast and gave them a bit of freedom to run about. They also enjoyed checking the hens for eggs every morning and watching the pigs being fed! The cottage is very well equipped and the pool is amazing, nice and big and in a very pretty setting. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and so helpful. The setting is rural so lovely and quiet but I would recommend a car if you are staying here. There is lots to see and do in this area of France. If you are looking for a peaceful, rural cottage then I would thoroughly recommend staying here.
