Take the ancient Rail trail or a gentle walk into Goathland home to the North Yorkshire Steam train and the Mallyan Spout Waterfall. Gift shops, tea rooms and inns serving some of Yorkshires finest cuisine line the village green and friendly locals wait to greet you. Board the steam train sit back relax and enjoy memorable journey through the glorious Esk Valley as it chugs its way into Grosmont and onwards to Pickering. Beckhole boasts an old world pub serving traditional ales a beer garden along side the Mursk Esk and less than a 100 yards from the cottage. Ideally located for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the rugged but beautiful coast of North Yorkshire.The ancient Sea Port of Whitby is just a 15 Minute drive with its historic cobbled streets colourful harbour and Marina, 199 steps to the Abbey ruins and St Mary's church, where legend tells Count Dracula is sleeping. Step back in time as you explore fishing villages of Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay where colourful cottages cling to the cliff side, children will love fossil hunting here. The elegant seaside resort of Scarboroguh is some 18 miles with beautiful award winning sandy beaches, amusment arcades ice cream parlours a fun fair and the Sea Life Centre are all on offer. A more sophisticated day can be enjoyed in the Minster City of York an easy 40 mile drive. Market towns of Malton Kirkby Moor Side Pickering and Helmsley are easily reached. Historic Castles Homes, Halls and Gardens such as Castle Howard, Duncomb Hall, Burton Agnes Hall home to a magnificent collection of Monet Art are just a short drive.
