Hi I'm Julie, I live just 10 minutes away from the Cottage, originally born and bred in South Wales, I left for London when I was 19 and have lived in London and the South East ever since. My passion is refurbishing property, I have been in the hospitality and property business most of my working life.
Owner purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Owner chose Farnham
When I first saw the Village of Crondall I fell in love with the area, the fact there are 2 good food pubs in the Village and a great Village shop/post office, selling all the essentials and more. Also being only 10 minute drive to Farnham - When I saw the cottage for sale and viewed I loved it :-) although it needed a lot of work I undertook the project and have now been inviting guests for the past year.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cuteness of brick built cottages of this age with the low tiled roof and wonkiness of the building, that it has survived for 300 years, the beams inside would have come from old ships so are even older than the cottage. It is cosy and warm in the Winter and in all seasons the garden is beautiful, particularly Spring and Summer when one can sit outside enjoying uninterrupted views seeing and listening to bird song.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
The property was far, far too small.
Lighting was poor , and not a lot of comfort seating wise .
Needs at least a nice comfy sofa to come home to .
Poorly equipped in the kitchen .
I am really shocked by this review and at a loss to understand what has been said! All previous reviews I have received on other sites have been 5* and very complimentary, particularly on the quality of fixtures and fittings, cleanliness and comfort. I have received Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for the past 2 years.
1. The cottage was built in the 1500's - it is a small as cottages generally are, it has low ceilings and beams as it says in the description.
2. There are 8 spotlights in the living area alone and a lamp, I would admit it is not the brightest room due to the low ceiling and is North facing with a lovely South facing garden.
3. In the living area there is a 2 seater sofa and 2 comfortable arm chairs, together with a dining table and 4 chairs.
4. The kitchen has an oven, hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine, has 6 sets of cutlery including cake forks, 6 x dinner plates, side plates, cake plates, cereal bowls, cups and saucer, mugs, wine glasses, champagne flutes, tumblers, short glasses.
A kettle, 2 caffertiers ( one for 2 cups, 1 for 4 cups), a Nespresso coffee machine, expresso cups, 3 saucepans, 2 frying pans, 3 oven trays, colander, various dishes, measuring jug, wooden spoons, cooking utensils, toaster, scissors, bottle opener - tea, coffee, milk, coffee, nespresso pods, biscuits, salt pepper and a draw of various cooking essentials. Washing up liquid, washing powder, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, sharp knives, bread knife, chopping boards, all of which are new and replaced regularly as I have a very high standard.
That's about all I can say really, rest assured if you are reading this as a future guest, your happy stay is my primary concern, if you should have a problem I am there in 15 minutes to solve it, you will have my mobile number to contact me anytime. Just to add, I did text this guest asking them if all was good and they never complained to me about anything. Hence the shock of their review. Julie
We stayed for a few days at the end of July. The whole experience was fabulous. The cottage is extremely homely, very relaxing with a beautiful garden. The pub across the road was very welcoming, and the play park up the road was brilliant for my six year old. Julie, the owner, could not have been more helpful. We would definitely stay again, in fact we tried to book for Christmas, but were a little too late.
Thank you for your lovely words Ian and I am very happy you had a good time, most welcome anytime :-)
