Gorgeous Notting Hill duplex/maisonette, full of Notting Hill charm.
A colourful, stylish, character-packed maisonette (duplex) brimming with originality. This is no bland holiday rental, nor a super-pristine show apartment - this is an authentic, quirky Notting Hill home that has been featured in magazines.
Situated just off Portobello Road, moments from the iconic blue door that appeared in the film 'Notting Hill' (for a millisecond!). Positioned on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with floor to ceiling windows in several rooms, it is flooded with natural light and has far-reaching views over the neighbourhood.
The oak-floored sitting room and large kitchen (the latter with a roof terrace leading off it) are on the lower floor, while upstairs there are two double bedrooms with crisp white linen and lots of pillows and fresh towels, with an open plan study and a colourful bathroom with bath-tub and shower.
The flat is two floors up from the street with no lift so it might not be suitable for those who find stairs difficult and I'm afraid it's probably not suitable for very small children. Ask me if you have questions about this. The flat is not super-modern, as in wet-rooms or coloured mood lighting but it functions perfectly nonetheless. It's a much-loved home with the quirks and idiosyncracies that all homes develop.
It's perfect for 2 couples, or a couple of friends. It's a lovely flat to stay in on your own too. I have lived here for years and love the combination of being right in the middle of all the excitement and bustle of Portobello, but at the same time feeling tucked away above it in a quiet, spacious, atmospheric apartment.

We just loved to stay in this charming apartment
We were 2 couples staying in the apartment for 4 nights, and we just loved it :o)
Every morning we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony, and there is plenty of room in the kitchen for 4 people dining.
Entrance floor of the apartment includes a small hall, a cosy kitchen, and a nice livingroom.
Upstairs there is another nice livingroom, 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom.
Perfect location just around the corner from Portobello road and market.
Simon was very friendly, and available if any questions.
Next time I go to London I will stay in Simons charming and spacious apartment.
This is the perfect antidote to all those bland, soulless apartments that abound. Si’s place is a home from home with plenty of character & quirkiness. It’s extremely spacious, warm, comfortable, clean, well equipped. The beds were great with good quality crisp white linen. We loved relaxing in the sitting room after heading back from an evening out.
Would definitely be keen to return.
Charming flat in great location
Our family of 3 spent a week in Simon's flat over New Year and had a mostly enjoyable time. The flat is easy to find although I did have trouble getting thru to Si on the phone initially we found the place but the intercom buzzer didn't work. The flat is on the 2nd floor and it is a bit of a struggle up the narrow stairs with heavy suitcases. The flat was very warm and inviting and had everything we needed for our stay except there were a couple of issues with the stovetop not working or the washing machine which was a bit of a drag as we were into the third week of our holiday and needed some clothes washed. Our first night and morning was a bit difficult as we had no hot water or heating. There was a problem with the boiler not lighting which did get fixed that afternoon thankfully and we didn't have a problem for the rest of our stay. Simon was very accommodating and left us a blowup mattress for our other daughter to come and stay a few nights with us. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the flat and access to public transport was really good. The number seven bus goes from just across the road all the way to Oxford Circus which was handy. It was great being just on Portobello Road for the markets and many shops and restaurants. We would love to stay at Simon's place again in the future although it would be good if a few things were fixed up i.e. the front door which is really hard to open and shut, the intercom and the hot tap in the kitchen which kept coming off. Overall we had a good time and would recommend.
Great location, quirky charming flat with sensationally comfortable beds.
We really enjoyed our stay here. So far it has been my son's favourite place. The beds were extremely comfortable. Si was very helpful with directions and instructions. Only problem i had was trying to work the washing machine. Maybe some instructions would be helpful. Overall a lovely flat and great location and host.
Amazing apartment, it had everything we needed. Simon was extremely helpful and answered any questions we had. We all had a fantastic time and would defiantly stay here again!
Notting Hill is a great London location
Great location - easy to get to the heart of London but more interesting neighborhood than typical hotels. Just feet away from Portobello market. Plenty of Tube access. The place itself is spacious and cozy. The host is terrific and very helpful.
