Great little flat
This flat is the ground floor of a terrace house so is small but well formed. The rooms have been reconfigured to make two bedrooms and a tiny sitting room and kitchen combined. This means that the photos are a little out of date and the space is definitely only suitable for 4 max unless adding a baby cot.... The second bedroom has a small double.
We had a very good time and managed to cook a roast in the little kitchen. Space is at a premium in the sitting room/kitchen but there is a nice sofa and chair. We added another chair from the bedroom but that meant all the space was filled. Cosy with the stove lit!
The flat is ideal for a well behaved dog as the park is literally one minute round the corner. All doors close so it is easy to keep the dog out of bedrooms.... We took a sofa throw to make sure of not getting any hair or dirt on it and an extra long mat for the hallway.
We had a fab walk on Longniddry beach. Car park by the dunes on Link Road. Wild and windy but a glorious doggy beach. We have been to Edinburgh many times so didn’t do touristing in town but popped in for dinners and shopping. All very easy. Food and supplies easy to find locally.
Very clean and a nice little bathroom with bath and shower. Main bed is comfortable. Space for clothes and cases. We would definitely book again. Parking is tight but we managed to find free spaces very near. Parking in the same road is tricky . Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues due to circulating space, parking and bathroom.
We stayed here for a week and found it to be the perfect location for us. With a park just a short walk away to take the dog to and with a playground for our son. It's also within walking distance to a very nice soft play. We have a large van so parking was very tight on the road for us but we managed ok. Inside the house we especially loved the bathroom's in floor heating and mattresses were extremely comfortable. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to spend some time in Edinburgh but especially to families as it has everything you'll need close by for kids.
Great small, quirky and clean property
Lovely clean and quirky property. Will certainly use again for a weekend in Edinburgh.Great access to all areas of Edinburgh on fantastic bus route.xx
Had a wee break away with my daughter and niece. A bit of retail therapy and we took in a show. The flat was excellent for this as we could come and go as we pleased. It had everything we needed and more. We couldn't fault it at all and would highly recommend it to anyone. The folder that was on the kitchen table helped us to plan which busses/taxis to use and had straight forward instructions on how to use the various things in the flat. We are planning our next visit to Edinburgh already and are hoping to get this flat again.
Highly Recommend - great place!
This place is really great - location is fantastic, and the owner was wonderful. It is cozy and she has a lot of great information to help your stay be even better. The place itself is so cute, and artsy and has everything you could possibly need for a great stay. Really wish we could have stayed longer! But I will go back and stay there next time I'm in Edinburgh for sure. Highly highly recommend this great place!
Lovely cottage in Leith
This was such an amazing apartment rental. The cottage is beautiful: immaculately clean and cozy. My son loved the loft bed in the living room . The weather was rainy and we enjoyed using the wood stove. It was a great base to explore Edinburgh: a 10-15 minute walk to the water or Leith and about 15 minute bus to the Royal Mile. Another big bonus of this apartment is it is right across from the Leith Links - a lovely park. We took some nice walks and jogs there and they are renovating the playground. This is one of the best vacation apartments we have ever stayed at.
There are three bus stops just 1 min away. It only takes 15 min to get to the city centre (No's 25,12, 49 and 35), 20min to the Botanic Gardens (no 21), 15 min to Portobello beach (no 21 and 12). Taxi to and from the centre is around £7 and takes about 10 min.
Arriving from Edinburgh Airport: Take the Airlink 100 to Princes Street/Waverley Station and then no 25 or 12 to Gladstone place. Ask the driver if you are unsure. There is a co-op pharmacy, a pub and a lovely cafe called Bijou at the corner closest to our flat.
Arriving from Edinburgh Waverley station you can also take buses 25 or 12
Another option is to take bus no 49 which leaves from North Bridge, get off at Burns st. Our home is a 5 minute walk from here.
If there is more than 3 of you it probably makes more sense to take a taxi as it costs as much as the bus and takes you right onto our street.
If you are wanting to use public transport, make sure you have the right change ready. A single ticket (for one bus only, no changes) costs £1,70/ adult. A day ticket sets you back £4 but can be used all day on as many buses you want.
Tip: Download the Edinburgh Transport app, which is brilliant. Just type in address and it will tell you exactly where to go and which bus to hop on.
The bus stop with a bus that takes you right into the center is just 1 min away. This area is also very close to Leith Harbour (about 10min walk) with many award winning restaurants and lovely cafe's and a big shopping centre (about 15 min walk) which also provides access to the Royal Yacht Britannia. 5min walk away there is a big supermarket (TESCO) for most shopping requirements, but there are also a few convenience stores just 2 min away on an adjourning street.
