Brilliant Cornish beach cottage - stunning sea views - the perfect getaway

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Beachside cottage, breathtaking sea views, stylish accommodation: 3 bed 3 bath

Relax with stunning views of the sea in a stylish Cornish waterside cottage in Kingsand, Cornwall's forgotten corner, an area of outstanding coastal beauty. Simply decorated with a comfortable New England feel, the two double bedrooms have sea views and en-suites. One en-suite even has portholes out to sea - spot a dolphin while you soak in our roll top bath! The cabin style bedroom with two singles has walk in wetroom and bathroom adjacent. There is a well appointed duck egg blue, Shaker style kitchen-diner, with a table for six and french doors out to the sun deck. The separate, open-plan lounge has two large comfortable cream sofas and a chaise longue - facing panoramic windows which look out across the bay - perfect for gazing out to sea in. There's also a new Smart TV, CD player all linked to superfast Cornish wireless broadband. The cottage has two sea facing balconies and a private deck/eating area. There is exclusive parking for three cars. There are two beaches either side of the cottage and three pubs, serving great food, two cafes, two shops and a post office within easy walking distance. The sheltered sand and shingle beaches are safe and perfect for swimming, rock-pooling, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding or boating. Kingsand featured in The Life of Turner movie directed by Mike Leigh and starring Timothy Spall. Local sights are at Rame Head, Mount Edgcumbe House and Gardens, Whitsand Bay, which features a marine park, and Anthony House (location of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland) and its Woodland Gardens. Brilliant local restaurants include The Devonport, The View and The Carew Arms. The surf beaches of Cornwall, The Eden Project and Dartmoor are within easy reach. Hop on the Cremyll Ferry to get to Plymouth, with its great shopping, Theatre Royal and historic Royal William Yard and restaurants. Kingsand is a very special place - child friendly, safe and fun - this is a brilliant place to stay!

Sadly we are unable to accommodate pets - however gorgeous and well behaved - due to allergies.

About Dawn B.

We have lived in Kingsand part and full time since our London days in 2002 - and can't think of anywhere much better to be.

Dawn B. purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Dawn B. chose Kingsand

It's a gorgeous spot in a very special place. The kind of place where kids run barefoot, you can enjoy a drink overlooking the beach - and you can get lost for hours just exploring rockpools, taking long walks or just looking at the stunning view.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just the most wonderful, fun place to stay if you want to be right by the beach. Storm Cottage is just fab - very relaxed, stylish and flip floppy with beautiful views - and a stone's throw from the most important things: a beach, crystal clear swimming water - and a great pub! We'll be back.

Brilliant Cornish beach cottage - stunning sea views - the perfect getaway

You couldn't get any closer to the sea, with the waves lapping (sometimes crashing) against the wall below the balcony at high tide, but the insulated windows take away most of the sound at night. Opening the bedroom curtains in the morning to get a view across the bay and into the English Channel is magical. There was comfortably enough space for 6 of us. The provisions there when we arrived were a nice thought, and the owner was very helpful with recommendations of local cafes and other amenities. Parking is scarce in Kingsand (and in other Cornish coastal villages) but we fit 2 big cars in the parking space next to the cottage.

We went in early autumn, so just out of season. We didn't try all the pubs but those we did were friendly, had plenty of space, and provided a range of food sufficient for even fussy eaters.

Storm Cottage was all we had hoped for and more. The views of the water cannot be beat. Dawn was a gracious hostess and kindly provided some initial food supplies for us. Thank you!
