About the property

A distinctive detached property in the lovely village of Waterhouses, on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District. The property has recently undergone a complete renovation and is fitted out to a high standard with all your holiday essentials. There is a fully fitted kitchen with a dishwasher, electric hob and oven, kettle, toaster, blender/juicer etc. You will also find all of your pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and tea towels provided. There is also a fully fitted laundry with washing, drying and ironing facilities, for sorting out all your kit after a long day in the Peaks. The property has oil fired central heating and instant hot water.

On entering the property you will find a porch with hanging space for your coats and a rack for your shoes and boots.

The sitting room has a feature fireplace fitted with an electric stove type fire for those chilly autumn evenings. Equally the room benefits from french doors out onto the rear patio and has SKY TV and a DVD player if the weather is inclement, and ample sitting space. There are also a compendium of board games and playing cards. Naturally, the property is fitted with Wifi which works throughout the house.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms (one kingsize and two single) and two bathrooms (one en-suite) and both with showers. There is also a dressing room attached to the master bedroom.

Outside is a large garden with surrounds the property on all sides. We have a gardener so that the lawn is always kept neat and tidy for those impromptu games of 5-a-side! There is a swing set up for smaller children. As the weather improves there is a Weber charcoal barbeque and garden furniture provided for your stay. The patio also benefits from outside lighting.

Towels and bed linen are provided and there are spares in the linen box in the dressing room.

To give you an idea of the surrounding area, Waterhouses is located halfway between the historic market towns of Ashbourne, to the south and Leek to the North. It is a relaxed 10 minute car journey to either.

Of course you are surrounded by the beauty of the Peak District but not far from Waterhouses are a number of attractions for you to really relax and benefit from your time here.

So, one attraction right in the village itself is the Manifold Trail that runs between Waterhouses and Hulme end. It’s an 8 mile walk/cycle ride, with a pub at the end for ‘refreshments’ The Manifold Inn. Cycles can be hired either from or

Perhaps though, the most famous perhaps could be Alton Towers situated just seven miles away. .

There is Rudyard lake situated just to the north of Leek which offers a lakeside café,boat hire and a small gauge railway for the children (and big children!).

There is also Carsington water located to the east of Ashbourne. That is a larger reservoir with a lovely circular walk. .

Beaver Hall Equestrian Centre lies to the north of Waterhouses and offers riding lesson and experience days for young and adults :

In the pretty village of Ilam is the National Trust Estate at Ilam Park. There are a number of things to do here including walks around the estate and along the river, or just whiling away the time outside the tea room. :

About The Owner

My name's Simon, and I've had this house in Waterhouses, since it was built in 2007. It was a new development of 19 different houses backing onto the village cricket and football pitch.

My job takes me all over the place so I sometimes use the house and keep it ticking over, but given the area of beauty it's in and facilities and entertainment that surrounds us here in the Peak District National Park it seemed a shame not to let other people enjoy it. Why The Owner chose Waterhouses

It's a modern, private, well cared for property, with character and traditional materials of stone block work. It has everything you need for a home away from home, because it's my home and you'll have everything you need here for a few nights away or more.

What makes this house unique

Beautiful landscape around the property. Nice walks to the two village pubs - 1 uphill (!) Red Lion at Waterfall and one downhill - The Olde Crown Hotel in Waterhouses. Lots to see and do around here - we are 7 miles from Alton Towers for example. There are the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne 6 miles either side, and there are the reservoirs of Rudyard and Carsington water about 20 mins away in either direction aswell. Lovely family break

Really enjoyed our stay here for Halloween break. Travelled from Ireland and house is about an hour drive from Birmingham airport. We visited Alton towers which is about a ten minute drive away and also the peak wildlife park which was fab. The house is as described and was clean and comfortable. Lots of little touches to make it homely. The garden is enclosed and my boys enjoyed playing on the swings and with the scooter etc. The village and surrounding area is very scenic.

The only suggestions I would made would be an information folder with info on how to work appliances in the house and info on nearby services. Also I suggest safety loops for the blind cords as these are dangerous to small children.

Lots to do in the area and will stay again in the future to explore the peak district more.

Communication with Simon was excellent and he was quick to respond to messages.

Beautiful Home

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our 2 year old and had a fabulous holiday. Simon met us at the house and showed us around, he was friendly and had even got us some bread, milk and eggs so we didn't have to rush to the shop. The house was well equipped and really was a home from home, providing us with an excellent base to explore the local areas including Alton Towers. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone! Lovely cottage in a quiet country village

We really enjoyed our stay here. Simon was an excellent host who went out of his way to help us both before and during our stay. I would recommended this house for people wanting a quiet break in the countryside without any disturbances. There are lots of lovely villages to see within an hour or so and the drive to them is very picturesque.

Stayed here for four nights with a couple of friends, wonderful house, very spacious , everything i needed (household things) was there, Simon was very welcoming, we ended up leaving late on the day which he did not mind and was very generous of him

Brilliant house, lovely place to stay!

The house was really really nice, and had all the home comforts we needed. The garden was great too, with the outdoor seating getting plenty of sunshine. We also used the BBQ one night. Our main purpose for visiting was to go to Alton Towers and this house is just 15 mins drive from the park. The local pub in Waterhouses also does very good food. Would recommend to others. Since staying here my partner and I have actually been on Rightmove as we're now wanting to live in a house rather than a flat!

Relaxing mini break

We only booked for three nights but could easily have stayed longer. We were met at the property by the owner, Simon who gave us a quick tour and left us to settle in. There was a welcome pack with a few goodies which were very much appreciated. The house was clean and well equipped for those who want to cater for themselves. Hand soap in each bathroom, the toilet and kitchen which are a nice touch.

We had a lovely few days away, very relaxing and we found some lovely walks from the front door. We would definitely stay here again.
