We are in an area of ​​Tuscany, very valuable for the cultivation of olive trees, on the hills overlooking the valley crossed by the river Era, which originates from the slopes of Volterra and flows into the Arno to Pontedera

Since the Middle Ages, Valdera has been a territory of expansion, before the Republic of Pisa and then the Florentine duchy; the dominant city, governed by the Medici dynasty, controlled all the vast territory through the creation of large farms owned by the noble Florentine houses and in some cases, as long as they were faithful, Pisane; to give some examples, the Pitti family, (that of the current Palazzo Pitti in Florence) had a farm in the current Pieve a Pitti; the Niccolini family had and still have the villa farm of Camugliano; the Medici-Riccardi family had its headquarters at the Villa Saletta farm.

Even our property was a farm of one of these farms, that of Forcoli, Villa Brunner named after the last historical owner, whose building, enlarged and renovated in the first half of the 800, together with the parish church today, is clearly visible climbing towards the hills. The area of ​​the farm is about three hectares and the original characteristics of rurality have been maintained, as far as possible: the land, cultivated until the 1960s by the peasants, maintains a terraced structure and paths, and a spontaneous vegetation rich in acacias, white poplars, holm oaks, laurels, euonymus, ivy, prunus from blackberries, ferns and asparagus. We, owners of the complex for about thirty years, engaged in public employment jobs-Lidia, secondary school teacher, and Adriano - commercial manager, we have limited ourselves to integrate with some specimens of favorite plants: olive trees, pines, cork trees, poplars, beautiful cypresses, some fruit plants and mimosa plants; and then shrubs for hedges: laurel, forsitia, jiaponica, rosemary, sage.

The farmhouse is very large and consists basically of three apartments, two of which are occupied by owners: wife and husband retired, and daughter Elena, a degree in veterinary medicine, who works in England, as in our beautiful country there is no work for the young people .

L 'apartment to rent has its own entrance and consists of a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a separate kitchen area, which is actually the place of the ancient wood-burning oven; Everything has been restored this year and it is new. Heating and hot water are included.

The apartment is ideal for two people who want to live in the countryside in contact with nature, in the most natural silence and breathe the clean and perfumed air of many plants. The nearest village is 3 kilometers, Forcoli with about 1500 inhabitants. The location is strategic to visit the most famous cities of Tuscany: within 50 kilometers you can easily reach by car, stopping from time to time to photograph breathtaking landscapes, SIENA, FLORENCE, VOLTERRA, SAN GIMIGNANO, IL CHIANTI; and then towards the sea: Pisa, Livorno and Lucca; on the coast of Pisa and Lucca there are free beaches and modern seaside resorts with well-equipped beaches and lots of people and shops such as Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Castiglion della Pescaia .....

We prefer to rent the apartment for a long period of time just to be able to give the necessary time to visit and enjoy all the reachable places.

Another aspect not to be forgotten is the famous Tuscan cuisine full of flavors and tastes: in the kitchen there is a wood stove with which the dishes are cooked slowly and for a long time developing all the flavors of the past .. The owner, true Tuscan, can occasionally offer dishes of the ancient rural tradition: bread soup, ribollita, beans all'uccelletto, and many, many eggs of our hens. !!!!!
