This is a very pleasant, bright and spacious bungalow which is situated in the quiet residential area of Hengistbury Head near Wick Village. It is only a few minutes walk away from the Riverside walks and boating activities, a public slipway and 3-par golf course and driving range. Also nearby are the sandy beaches at Southbourne-On-Sea and the nature walks at Hengistbury Head. A land train runs between Hengistbury Head and Mudeford Spit beaches. Wick is a village on the southern bank of the River Stour just before it enters Christchurch Harbour. Although only half a mile away from Christchurch Priory, the village is in the borough of Bournemouth, the town centre of which is 4.5 miles away. Wick today retains much of its historic character, including some very old timber framed buildings. Catch the Wick Ferry across the River Stour to Christchurch. Wick Fields are an important part of the Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The meadows have not been improved for agriculture and are therefore regarded as ‘ancient grassland’, rich in flowering plants and rushes. An increase of birds has been reported here, including the rare Dartford Warbler and the Cetti's Warbler, and the Otter is seen here occasionally, as is the now 'uncommon' Water Vole. A herd of Galloway cattle graze the land; these cattle are ideally suited to the harsh conditions of the coast and estuary and help to manage the land, as was done in ancient times. Current attractions include the Wick Ferry across the River Stour to Christchurch. This is a very popular holiday location.

Why Bournecoast Holidays chose Bournemouth

Bournemouth supplies the perfect base from which to explore the full pleasures of the area (Dorset & Hampshire), as it offers a mix of experiences to suit all tastes. All set in area that enjoys the UK's best weather and warmest temperatures. All set in a surprisingly compact area, making it the ideal place to visit for any length of time, from one week to two months.

Situated only 2 ½ hrs drive (the time usually taken to drive to the airport and check in) from Birmingham and London, Bournemouth presents itself as a destination that is conveniently only a short drive for many, and brings with it more benefits than most European destinations.

Set in one of the most beautiful parts of southern England, Bournemouth and Poole are justly famous for their seven miles of golden sandy beaches, both Poole and Bournemouth beach have been awarded Blue Flag status meaning they are internationally recognised to be of the highest standard, but there is so much more to the area than the seashore.

The area has a host of award-winning restaurants, bars, clubs, theatres, museums and cinemas, as well as countless attractions and places of interest.

With its ponies, protected natural beauty and thousand years of history, the New Forest is Bournemouth's back yard and for those of you of a literary bent, Thomas Hardy country is just a few miles away (Bournemouth being Hardy's Sandbourne). Continuing the themes, the tranquillity of the nearby isle of Purbeck was the inspiration for Enid Blyton's Famous Five adventures.

Add to that the National Trust sanctuary of Poole’s Brownsea Island and the historic charms of Christchurch and its famous Priory and you have the perfect backdrop for your holiday - with accommodation from Bournecoast being the cherry on the cake.
