About the property

Conveniently situated with all amenities near, but nature on the doorstep.

This beautifully situated gite has been awarded 4 stars by the French tourist office, and also a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence. It is in a historic village with all amenities, just fifteen minutes from Beaune, in the scenic valley of the River Ouche, close to both river and forest. The house is over two hundred years old, but has recently been sympathetically renovated to provide a light and airy home, opening directly onto a private south facing terrace with views up the hill to the twelfth century church.

The house boasts a well equipped dining kitchen, with laundry and downstairs toilet adjoining. The large light living room is comfortably furnished, with a wealth of original features including beams and a fireplace containing a wood-burning stove. Both reception rooms open directly to the terrace, which is partly shaded by a vine covered veranda and an optional wind-out sun awning, making it ideal for alfresco meals or a glass of local wine.

A beautiful oak staircase leads from the living room to the first floor, where there are two double bedrooms, and a modern bathroom containing a four piece suite. The main bedroom contains a superking size bed,and the second bedroom has two singles which can if required, be pushed together and made up as a superking. If this option is required please contact me at the time that the balance for the holiday is paid. The bedrooms benefit from wood floors and traditional furniture, giving them a cosy and restful feel.

The area surrounding Bligny sur Ouche is ideally suited for a relaxing holiday, combining outdoor pursuits with the chance to enjoy the local culture. A leisurely steam train journey through the Vallee de l'Ouche starts from Bligny itself, and there are ample walks from the village. The vineyards of the Cote d'Or, the ancient town of Beaune ( with it's famous Hospices and renowned restaurants), a medieval chateau, a lake with beach, and the Canal de Bourgogne are all within fifteen minutes drive from the house. Further afield, at about forty five minutes drive, are the city of Dijon(the regional capital of Bourgogne),also several other chateaux, as well as numerous opportunities to visit the famous wine producers of Burgundy.

We are happy to welcome families at Les Rosiers. There are many family friendly activities and days out suitable for children within a ninety minute radius of the house , and a list can be provided if required.A travel cot and high chair can also be provided if requested when the balance for the holiday is paid.

Lovely gite in the heart of the village

  • 5 of 5

Perfect! Helen met us on arrival to show us round and answer any questions, she also left a welcome pack of essentials to tide us over initially.

The facilities are great, fully equipped kitchen/dining room, laundry room, large sitting room with very comfortable sofas, freesat TV, wifi, the master bedroom is enormous.

Would stay there again if in the area.

A very comfortable house in a lovely area.

The house is very comfortable and we made very welcome. The area is full of interest. Bligny itself is a lovely village with everything you need. We cycled every day on quiet roads to see many lovely sights.

" Les Rosiers" - Beautiful character house

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased we found Helen’s house online when planning our trip to France. We stayed at “Les Rosiers” for a week in August. Helen met us at the house and showed us through. The “welcome basket” on the table was very much appreciated. The house is lovely - true to the photos. Very clean, and well equipped. A large modern bathroom upstairs and a separate toilet downstairs, a very comfortable bed in the large bedroom, mirrors in both bedrooms and powerpoints ( for hairdryers etc.) nearby. Great internet access. We spent time sitting outside enjoying a wine with our meals - taking time to ‘smell the roses’. The Maximarche on the outskirts of the village had all that we needed. This is a great place to explore the Burgundy region. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at “Les Rosiers” – we highly recommend it. Thanks, Helen.

Boise, Idaho

The home is conveniently located in a small village.

  • 5 of 5

Helen was very helpful and extremely patient as we arrived 2 hours later then expected. The home is completely renovated while maintraining the old world charm. It is comfortably and tastefully decorated. We met some of the locals who were very welcoming and friendly. There are not many services in the town but Beaune is only 18 km away with an array of things to see and do and a ton of restaurants. The surrounding areas are beautiful and close to world class wineries. Did I mention that the home was immaculately clean? I would highly recommend this place.

Owner's Response: Thanks,Dianne. It was not a problem that you arrived late. These things happen, and you kept me informed. You must have suffered from some of the worst May weather ever, but all credit to you for keeping going, and making the most of your stay. I do appreciate your feedback, and hope that the rest of your trip is amazing.

Car: recommended

A folder containing extensive tourist information is left in the house detailing the many outdoor pursuits, chateaux, wine tours, and ancient abbeys to be found within one hour's drive of the property. There is also a tourist office about 500 metres from the house in Bligny sur Ouche
