Charming Little Cottage
This was the perfect cottage for our week long visit to Glin. Inside you will find some of Marie’s original oil paintings as well as tastefully updated decor.
We thourougly enjoyed chatting by the fire in the evening, French press coffee in the morning and the village of Glin during the day hours.
We highly recommend this little cottage as a quiet getaway or a great home base for exploring this beautiful part of Ireland.
Perfect Quiet Country Cottage in Glin
This was our first visit to Ireland to celebrate 47th wedding anniversary. We loved the village of Glin and the friendly community. Marie our host was superb. She was waiting for us on arrival and gave us a tour of property and explained use of all the appliances and heating system.
The cottage has perfect central location to see many sites. We had a rental car and drove to Cliffs of Moher, Dingle Peninsula, Adare, Bunratty Castle and Killarney. We also took a short drive to the Limerick train station and took train to Dublin for two night stay and saw Riverdance at the Gaity Theatre and used Hop on Hop on Bus to tour the sights in Dublin. I also enjoyed hiking up the 1.5 km hill above town on the Glin Knight Trail. I was rewarded for my effort with an observation deck with a spectacular 360 view of the Shannon River and the Glin village.
Each night during our 2 week stay in cottage we stopped into the Geoghegan Maypie Pub for a pint. Gerald the proprietor and his son Carl were a delight as were the regular patrons. They treated us like a local and were very helpful at suggesting things to do. On our last night in Glin before flying back to the USA Gerald insisted my wife and I join him behind the bar so I could be trained in the proper way to draw my own pint of Guinness.
If you are looking for a restful holiday at your own pace this is your home away from home.
We used this cottage as a home base for exploring southwest Ireland. Very clean with all the comforts of home It was so nice to come back to this cozy cottage after a long day of exploring. There were lots of brochures available to find nice restaurants. Our favorite was the Old Stand, a recommendation from the owner!
A most delightful stay.
This is a rehabilitated traditional Irish cottage (one of a row of three derelict cottages that has been given a new lease of life as a self contained self catering unit for two). A charming mix of traditional furniture and very contemporary interior styling creates a tasteful and relaxing environment. A very well equipped kitchen with an almost endless supply of cuisine equipment. A very comfortable bed in a well furnished bed room and a delightful private patio space at the back which becomes sun drenched in the afternoon almost encourages one to stay and enjoy such amenities rather than explore the charm of the surrounding countryside and the glory of the River Shannon as it prepares to meet the sea. Glin is an ideal village to act as a Base to explore the rugged nature of South-West Ireland. An immensely enjoyable and memorable week week for the two of us.
WEr Irland wirklich kennenlernen will, ist hier hervorragend aufgehoben.
