The wagon in the woods is the perfect space for your escape to nature. It is located in a secluded corner of a large permaculture 'farm' on the edge of the spectacular Parque Nacional Peneda Gerês in northern Portugal. Your terrace overlooks the valley of the Lima river and a neighbouring vineyard. You can relax and swing in your own hammock, or prepare your breakfast whilst watching the sun rise over the mountains. The farm is off grid, power is supplied by solar and so is the hot water for the open air showers. Although the wagon itself has no power there are solar lights and there is also a charging area where you can power up your mobile devices. There is also limited internet access on site if you need to check emails etc. There is a small private terrace at the wagon with seating and a kitchen including a fridge, and a stove. There is a private compost toilet next to the wagon, but also several others around the farm.
In the village there are two cafés, one serves food at lunchtime and in the evening by arrangement, the other has a small general store. They are both within easy walking distance. There is also a small waterfall in the village, about 20 minutes walk. The two towns of Ponte da Barca and Arcos de Valdevez are just 10 minutes by car and have supermarkets bars, restaurants and other amenities. Both towns also have sandy river beaches where you can take a dip in some of the cleanest rivers in Europe.
The surrounding area is a relatively undiscovered paradise of mountains, rivers and the ocean. Just 40km away there are amazing beaches with world class surfing. There are many small beaches where you can find a quiet spot to swim and relax. In and around the national park there are plenty of marked trails where you can explore these beautiful mountains and hardly see another soul. There are rivers and waterfalls to swim in to freshen up and you can often find some deserted spot.
This is truly a place to get away from it all.....
