The property consist of several houses. Family owned and operated. Owner is very prompt for addressing all questions.
Pros: Breathtaking scenery, serenity, rural settings, spacious house, privacy, very helpful and fast-responding owners.
Cons: there are no cons but the things to be aware of. See below.
Amenities: Villa Montisi house has a separate driveway and private pool, so you can stay isolated from other guests. House is one storey, clean. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils, cookware, dishes, towels. Fridge, dishwasher (never used), gas stove. Clothes washer in one of the bathrooms is small and slow, but helpful. Bathrooms are OK, tight on the counter space, like everywhere in Europe, hairdryer supplied. Shower drain kinda slow and with shower base being shallow it is easy to overflow and flood the floor, so need to be careful. Outside there is a pool (cold but swimmable), bbq grill, 8 seat table, several lawn chairs and loungers and a tent. WiFi - slow, unreliable and spotty. WiFi reception seems to be better outside rather than in the house. I had to use my LTE cell (thanks Rogers Roam Like Home) for 50% of my internet need.
All doors and windows have no opening window-panes to keep air in with door/window closed. One bedroom has walk-out doors but no windows. We were afraid to keep doors/windows open at night and had to run A/C instead, which was a waste of nice cool fresh nigh air. That was probably my biggest disappointment. Also, there are no nets on window/doors to keep bugs out, so they creep in, especially at night, when lights are on. Pill bugs, house centipedes and large spiders are no strangers inside, and while harmless, may make you cringe. There are some mosquitos, horseflies and gadflies outside at dusk, but not many.
You may need to buy own cleaning supplies, like dish soap, laundry/dishwasher detergent, as well as own toilet paper/towels. You expected to pay for the use of electricity, the owner was upfront about it when arranging the rental. We paid €100/2wk.
Groceries - there is a small Coop in St. Giovani d'Asso and bakery, literally 5-7 min away driving. Large Coop in a mall in Sinalunga is about 25 min away.
It is fun to explore small towns around. Must be aware of work hours. Lunch noon to 3 pm; dinner only after 7:30 pm. We are generally ok to drive up to 4 hrs one way, so used the place as a launch pad to visit Naples (Pompei), Venice, Rome, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Perugia.
A unique experience
We stayed in Casa di Sopra a delightful house situated on a hill overlooking stunning scenery and sunsets every night at supper. Having holidayed in tuscany for the last 11 years this region is beautiful truly tuscany. The house was very large with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms with air conditioning. The kitchen and livingroom is open plan with a well equipped traditional fitted kitchen. Dishwasher, Washmachine were on hand and used extensively. We also had a very nice private garden outside with a bbq and an outdoor table and chairs.
The swimmingpool is very large again with terrific 365 views.
All in all a wonderful holiday and we have re-booked for 2013.
Lo pasamos muy bien en la Toscana, el entorno es maravilloso y el lugar donde nos alojamos no podía se mejor, cómodo, confortable, espacioso, independiente y bien equipado. Estuvimos muy bien...
