Great getaway hidden gem!
We enjoyed so much our own secluded house away from all the traffic it’s a great place to walk around and so easily accessible to all that’s near. We loved the sitting areas and landscaping the home history and the not to mention the furnishings and decor are great and beds pillows and blankets are lush!
Great house! Great location! Quiet at night.
How cool it was to stay in an historic house. We loved how the original bones of the home are still there. First off the location was excellent. About an 8 minute walk to the Alamo. You can access the more touristy part of the river walk right by the Alamo, or if you want a quieter walk go down about 2 blocks the other way right past Pete's Tako's (good food too!). Right past there is one of the dam/locks and if you keep walking that way you hit the Pearl area. Go on a weekend morning and you can hit the Farmer's market. Food, so awesome. Stay right by the house and walk to Augie's BBQ. SO GOOD! We ate there 2 times in just 4 days. Really good value, lots of food for great price. Then right across the parking lot behind the house is a little mexican cafe. Grab the breakfast tacos and bring them back to the house to eat. Besides the Alamo and missions, we really enjoyed the Briscoe Western Art Museum. There were 4 of us and plenty of room. One bathroom meant a little negotiating times to get ready but we made it work. Always felt safe, and we once we pulled in the gated lot and hit the local grocery store we never even used the car until the day before we left. Walk to everything. Good house for a small family, friend get away, even a romantic trip. Nice and quiet at night since you a few blocks from all the hub-bub.
High School Friends Get Together
We had such a great time staying at this lovely house in San Antonio. The house was ideal for the four of us and the accommodations were perfect. We took an Uber or a Lyft wherever we wanted to go which was such a reasonable fare from this location. Mono stopped by for a few minutes on the first day to say hello which was so thoughtful. All four of us would recommend this property for a getaway in San Antonio.
I so enjoyed meeting you and your friends. What a fun group you are! Thanks for staying with us. Come back again.
They communicated quickly and politely. We get very welcome! The house is so cool and the beds are comfortable. Perfect for a weekend getaway!
We loved this historic house. Decorated perfectly. The area where the house is located is less than desired due to large amount of homeless subjects hanging around in the rear alley at this location. Although we had no problems with them, having them stare at us as we walked away from the house for our daily sightseeing walk was unnerving. The house is secured with an electric gate in the rear alley and there are security cameras that probably prevent on site issues at night. I would not reccomend walking in the area of this house after dark, but during the day it is fine.
Beautiful historic home
Comfortable place and gracious owner.
Thank you, Chris! Such a wonderful guest!
StoneHaus is a remodeled historic house built in 1858. It was part of the Alamo farmlands. The house is located within walking distance (4 blocks) to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. A front porch and a landscaped, shaded backyard provides a relaxing place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. Free gated parking is a plus.
