The Rigole which is a feeder stream for the Canal du Midi coming from the Black Mountains, and which is part of the Chemin du Saint Jacques de Compostello is just one kilometer from the house and you can walk by there or take a bike ride with the bikes we provide. Nearby there is horse riding, canoeing, tennis and golf. A little further afield are the wine regions of the Corbières and the Minervois where you can sample some wine tasting. Toulouse which is less than an hour is worth a visit. The city with its red brick construction and different styles of architecture. The Space City is a good day out for the children with its planetarium and copy of the MIR space station. The city of Albi is close which houses the Toulouse-Lautrec museum. The Mediterranean and Pyrenees are just over an hour away. Discover the history of the Cathars and its many castles.
We arrived at Toulouse airport fourteen years ago from Asia where we had been living and working for 8 years and on arriving, very shortly found this farmhouse which we knew was what we were looking for but which was in need of repair. Over a couple of years we renovated the house and then started to rent out the property. We now have a small property where we live when the house is rented so that we are not on site but are available if you have any problems or need a bit of local knowledge in order to explore the region
Keith and Maggie BULLOCK purchased this farmhouse in 2002
Near to an airport, not far from the Pyrenees for skiing and hiking, not far from the beaches of the Mediterranean and not far from Spain, only 3 hours driving to Barcelona.
My wife and I stayed at this property for 3 days and two nights and we discovered what a delight a true French farmhouse could be like! Stunning views of the Pyrenees great rooms and all the facilities that one could wish for. And on top of all of that it was the owners 60th birthday!!!
Am writing this from Toulouse airport suffering from a surfeit of outstanding hospitality.
My wife, Louise and I are already planning our next visit.
My family and I ( 9 persons) had 3 wonderful weeks in the farmhouse. Plenty of room in the house - although we spend most of our time outside.
The bedrooms are good and the bathrooms impressive (more modern than expected in an old house). The kitchen is equipped with all you need ( except a garlic presser).
We spent our evenings on the terrace - eating and playing games - except 3 evenings with light rain. It would have been nice if the terrace had been covered - but the kitchen is big, so we could sit inside.
We enjoyed the pool - although only 1,25 m deep. We would have liked it a bit deeper.
But all that is just trifles. We had a wonderful holiday.
Keith, Maggie and Giles are easy to talk to - very down to earth and very service minded.
We can only recommend this house that in addition has its own house cat (Fitou) which we all loved.
Lis and family from Denmark
Property is exactly as listed. Bedrooms & bathrooms are modern and bright. Garden is wonderful - pool, trampoline, badminton, pingpong, etc. Fantastic for children. Maggie & Keith were easy and honest to deal with. We had no problems at all. This area of France was quieter in June than we expected. Best parts St. Felix, bike ride down Canal du Midi, Carcassone, Grottos, Revel market, and just the views from the property. Very good holiday!
Our family of 6 adults and 5 children had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday at Laspeyrisses in July 2012. When we were shown around on arrival by the owner, the children were extremely excited by the size of the property and the variety of rooms. All was very well maintained and clean and matched the listing description very well. The house looks out to the Pyrenees mountains and is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and wheat, very picturesque and so typical of a French farmhouse.
There were loads of dvd’s, games and books, and there were outdoor games in the garden. By the pool were plenty of sun beds and chairs for our use.
We only ventured out a few times during our two week stay as there was plenty to keep us occupied at the farmhouse. We visited the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Cathare castles, a trip along the canal du midi on foot or with a bicycle(which are provided at the property). We also did wine tasting and tried Cassoulet, the local dish of the region.
There was shaded areas under the trees when it was hot and we were able to eat outdoors for most meals including breakfast and in the evenings we mainly barbequed.
We would definitely recommend this holiday to others, the owner was very helpful and available by phone to answer any questions.
Family from Surrey
Our family of five had a great week staying with another family with three children. The house is very comfortable and fantastically located in a quiet spot at the end of a driveway surrounded by open countryside and fields of sun flowers. There is lots to do for the children - Trampoline, T Tennis, Football, cricket, bikes, badminton. And the pool is great too.
Loved the area. Weather was fantastic and the region itself was much better value than our normal south of France destination near Cannes. And quieter too.
Loads of places to visit nearby and the beach is just over an hour away.
The house is just as nice as it looks in the photos and the owners were very helpful in answering our questions when we had any.
Would definitely love to come back one day....
Dear Maggie, Keith & Giles,
We really enjoyed our stay in your fantastic "farmhouse". When we arrived we were very pleased to find a wonderfull house that was a detailed copie of what we saw on the website. The house and garden are well-maintained and everything was very clean. The reception was super and we felt immediately "at home". During our stay, there was realy everyting what we needed to feel as "God in France". Also the location is super! What a quietness!
We wish you a lot of success with your Farmhouse !!! and hopefully see you soon!!
